Really great! I am thrilled. So far I have always worked with gouache, pastels and acrylics. I'm going to give acrylic painting a try. Just discovered you on TH-cam! Greetings from Switzerland 🙋🏻♀️🎨
Terrific! I just love your work! Gives me new ideas on how to add that extra interest to work that just might be missing that little bit of mystery. Thanks
How could any real artist of soul say that ANYTHING is not part of "real" art! Geesh. This piece is wonderful. I love it. I'm so glad I ran across your channel. I've always wanted to do abstracts and now I have a teacher! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.
Thanks Kim....I totally agree about "real art".....actually everything is art and we are so lucky to be artists....
I just love your spontaneous way of creating ❤
Absolutely fabulous! Thank you
I'm going to incorporate this idea into my latest painting. Thanks!
Thank you Gwen, great demo!
You are so engaging. I enjoyed listening as much as watching your process.Thank you! I learned a lot.
Thanks Gretchen.....you are so kind...
This is incredible! You are incredible! I just discovered your channel and I am so, so glad I did! Thank you for sharing your amazing art❤
I like the extended strokes from the collaged asemic writing.
Those are my favorite as well.....
I incorporate asemic writing a lot in my art, I absolutely love it, I think it' just adds interest, to a piece, I love what you did thank you for sharing 😊
I just found your channel and i love it ❤. You make creating so free & I absolutely agree, asemic writing adds a different level of interest. Im hooked. Going to grab a coffee & im off to view more of your videos. Thanks so much for sharing. 😊
So glad you found me as well.....thank you for your comment....loved it!!!
i loved watching you. you have given me permission to enjoy myself and not feel guilty for doing what i enjoy
Love it! I'll try something like that on my paintings. Thank you, Gwen!❤
This is amazing... so lovely to see other artists do the same technique... mine is in acrylic mixed media with collage and I feel I am aligned with my artwork!! it speaks to 🙂 I would love to see the final artwork of yours.
Hi, Gwen. Just discovered you this morning. I use asemic writing often in my art and love your parts 1 & 2. Your extension out from the collage is an excellent tip! I’m also a “What if…?” gal! ☺️ Thanks so much for sharing your art with us! Following. 💫
Learning sooooo much from your work!!! Thank you 🙏.... thank you 👍🙏
Love this ..just started doing it...then found your channel.
You might already know this technique but if not have you tried doing your writing on large tissue type paper or deli paper? I keep a supply of different abstract shapes and symbols and I’m able to float them around the painting to find the right place. And you can rest assured that the paper will disappear! Only I’ve never tried using wax as a finished touch. I create with acrylic paint but I would love to do oil!
This is a beautiful creation!
I love writing on large tissue paper and deli paper....so much fun.
Love this, Gwen! Can't wait to try it!
You are so good ! And….so permission giving !
Thanks Ingrid....love your comment...,
Love the look of the writing... to my untrained eye it certainly looks like art. Hope we get to see the finished painting.
Your art is amazing, Gwen ❤
Oh Linda.....thank you so much for your kind comment....your the BEST!!!
Love this. First time I've heard of asemic writing. Will look it up. 💙❤️🖤
Love love love your art!!!!
Beautiful, loose, love that it is so free flowing. My kind of movement. Thanks for the video!
You are so welcome Ginger....
Art process is sooo easy with you by my side! Very helpful. Thank you so much, gwen!❤❤❤
Oh thank you so much for your comment.....loved it!!!
That was so cool to watch it all come together, amazing!
Hi Gwen, Im a new abstract artist and just had my debut show in gallery and i love this.
Never heard of it.
Ill definitely try it in my work
Thank you!
I subscribed also.
Just discovered you… am smitten… love anemic markings…. Love your voice and reasonings… and your art. Thank you! Going to watch more of you now 😊
Oh Lois....I loved your comment....what a lovely thing to say....thank you ...
This is su h a helpful technique! Thank you for sharing. I will certsinly try it. I think tearing the part you want to use organically, rather than a straight edge may incorporate the piece better. Thank you so much! I love your palette!❤
Wonderful! ❤
Love this! Thanks for the inspiration, Gwen.
Just found you!!! Love asemic writing and am just learning how to use it. Lots of times it's the first thing I put on the board as my inspirational starting point. Great video & can't wait to see more!!!!
love your voice! encourager of creativity!
This is fun to watch! Thank you! I have a friend who uses asemic writing. I had never heard of it before! Love it!
Give it a try Martine....I bet you will love it!!! Sorry if I spelled your name wrong...

This is a new concept for me love t thank you
I like this style will try it.❤
Thank you Gwen. I love what you did. Will try something like that myself. You're the best. Kevin.
Thanks Kevin....let me know how it goes for you...
Gwen, this lesson was simply fascinating to me! Very often I've seen artists try and blend the edges of the layered piece on top into the backgrounds. But Ive never seen them try and bring out the objects, like your black Asemeic pieces onto the original piece! So, so cool! PS, what kind of cold wax do you use, and can that only be used with oil paints?(I usually just use acrylics) I have a small jar of Jacquard's Dorland wax. Could I use that in this same way? Thank you for your help and this interesting video!
Looking nice. Thank you for sharing your process.
Thank you! I've seen some asemic writing but you gave a great tutorial about applying it to a painting.
Love your colors, too. I subscribed so I can learn more from you.
I am so happy you subscribed as that made my day.....thank you ....
Super! Thank you Gwen!
Lovely
This is interesting.,.I love including text to art anyway. Thanks!
Looks fabulous indeed❤...I love it. Gabby from NZ
Beautifully done, thank you.
Love this.
I love your style, it's so inspiring.....thank you ❤
Love it..!
Cool!
Just stumbled on your channel, thanks for this idea.
I call my 'letting things dry; as 'marinading time'. Gives one a chance to see how it blends =)
I saw another artist use tissue paper and it became transparent when put on the art piece. So that's another way , possibly with oil. I know hers was mix media. And adding like you did kinda makes it mix media vs just an oil painting.
I like it
What is the paper you use for your ink writing? It looks thin. I have tried using tracing paper with cold wax medium but it didn’t seem to dry. I like it when the paper goes transparent. I love your tutorial and style! Brilliant and inspiring!
❤👍 Thank you!
I find your addition of asemic writing inspiring.
Hi Gwen.
I’m new to your channel. You are SO much fun to watch!
I’m curious about cold wax. Looking through your videos. Could you create a video specifically explaining how to use cold wax? Thank you!
Mary....I did but will be having a course you can purchase on my website that takes you through the entire process from tools, paper to use, how to collage, etc.....you name it I think it is covered in the course....email me and I will let you know all about it.....gwen@gwenfox.com
Love this Gwen! Thank you for the great tutorial. I use acrylics and so if I did this writing on tissue paper or some other thin paper, how would I apply it? Maybe a matte medium?
Funny story about when people say something doesn’t look like art. I was exhibiting my flow art painting at a show this past weekend and a guy came into my booth. He saw one of my paintings from afar and shared with me that my painting looking just like paint splattered on a canvas yet he came into my booth and got up real close to the painting almost pressing his cheek to it to see how I added the dimensions and layers to it. He was drawn in by the paintings energy but his logical mind didn’t understand why. Several people offered an insulting comment and said my paintings were beautiful almost in the same breath.
Great video. I like you used cold wax. :)
Hi Gwen! You are my favourite TH-camr at the moment! Here is a question. I have been trying to collage rice paper on to paper with Wax Medium (Dorlands and Gamblins) but when I have checked how well it adheres leaving it a few weeks to dry - the collaged bits come off a bit easier than I would like to see. Is this a matter of leaving it longer to dry? Or will it always be possible to pull of fragments?
Oof! Good episode!!!!!!!
Dear Gwen , in another video (can’t remember which one ) you talked about only using not more then five colours. My question is , can they be darkened and be made lighter ? And what if there gonna be mixed (blend ) on the canvas ?
Thank you !!
Love the video.....but why not just do the asemic writing directly onto the painting rather than putting it on paper first and sticking it on?
So was this rice paper? And also, at what point in an oil painting’s drying time do you do something like this? Is it after the underlying layers have fully cured, or is it okay to when they’re touch dry?
Wonderful video. What kind of paper are you using.
asemic what means in french ? very interesant. Je crois que c'est le mot sans le sens, écriture spontanée un peu comme le jazz ou la peinture abstraite. Merci pour votre démonstration et votre enthousiasme.
Loved it! Do you varnish with Gamsol?
When the painting is finished I will varnish with a varnish made for oil paint....do not varnish with Gamsol as it is not a varnish.....So glad you asked this question.
Do you never just write right on the piece? I would ❤
You can write on the piece but I just get a bit uptight so I just do it on paper and then collage it to the painting.....
Gwen, you simply are awesome. Man I wish more women were as cool as you 😉
You just made my day.....thank you!!!
Why not put the asemic writing on wet strength tissue paper. It will be incorporated much easier into the picture. 😊
Yes, you can do that and you can use many other forms of paper to do asemic writing on....
Why not write ( ascemic writing) right on canvas…
Why are you sanding the canvas, please?
I honestly thought you were going to cut out the negative spaces with something very sharp and incorporate them. No experience with a semi writing.
Thanks for your comment Barbara....glad you watched to see that cutting out the negative spaces was not what I did...
Asemic writing isn’t art? What the heck is wrong with people?! I find that people who says things like that should just really be saying ‘“I don’t like that,” which is really what they’re saying.
Thanks for your comment Mark....I totally agree with you...
