Across the street from where I work is a halfway house for drug addicts. Every morning and afternoon a van pulls up to bus the resident in and out of the building. This evening, the van pulled up playing this exact song on the stereo. It was such a surreal experience and it took me a minute to notice it was a GTA III song, but it clicked. People are fighting their own demons everyday, and "Fade Away" captures that dark loneliness that comes with it.

I'm surprised that a non-licensed song that was made pacifically for the game is actually one of my favorite songs to be used in the whole GTA series, it's easily the best song in III.

As a kid I never listened to music on purpouse. Yeah, it wass cool to hear something good in games, but nothing more. GTA III, Morrowind and Silent Hill 3 changed all that. They, basically, shaped the base of mu musical taste and I greatly appreciate them for that. Thanks you Rockstar and thanks to all beautiful people writing comments here over the years - it was very heartwarming to read all of your comments.
This and Lucy always give me nightmares about 9/11… I was deeply affected by the attacks as a small child in the city.. I had drawings of the towers and the attacks. I was only 5 years old.. My mother still has them somewhere. They were very eerie in depicting the event in a child’s point of view. The whole event heavily influenced me in becoming a first responder later on in my life…

Water on the window pane,

i agree. i absolutely love this music. something about it is just so healing. like imagine at night youre driving an open roof luxury car with your wife/husband sitting next to you...and there's streetlights/citylights on both the sides of the road. youre playing this music on the radio..and your scarf is flying in the air. like dang the feels- idk if can you feel it too.
favorite song in the whole game
Props to Stuart Ross for writing this song and his work on GTA2 music. I wish Rockstar would produce their own music again.
This brings back memories of playing the game GTAIII. I always loved this song and enjoyed it most during thunderstorms during game play. I probably would never have heard this song if I hadn't played. Beautiful song.
Wow this sounds like a 2018 song. Way ahead of its time
I can't get enough of this song, the autotune is beautiful
I remember first hearing this song playing tbe game the first time this year , I got such a early 2000s vibe 😢
This and Stripe Summer were my favourite songs from the game. I preferred it when GTA had custom music.
yeeeeeah boooooooooooooy
Excuse me are you a girl or a boy? Be glad if asked and god bless your soul
so much memories with this song and game , how i want to get back in these times...
want it2..oohh ;(
here's a song you're not going to find anywhere else, except for one of those stations owned by love media our sister station, Rock and Roll!, it's Head Radio
Memories!
This song reminds me of that industrial part in the first island, in a rainy evening
Same. It always seemed to be playing when I went there. Also sitting in Salvatore's car park looking out towards the lighthouse and industrial area, night time and the fog rolling in, with this song playing.
Always loved this song. I hated when I turned to the radio station and it was going off. Lol, good times.
This song actually fades away
Because Craig Gray Never Exist
Best song in this game 👌
I remember stopping the car every time this song came on to listen to it. Sometimes going into the menu to block out all other songs just to listen to it. For the longest time I couldn't find it anywhere. Now its here,...on da Y-tube
Makes me nostalgic for my past, those were good days. 2001-2006 RIP :'(
Utterly depressing. But beautiful 😣
The song was literally about the broken relationship between claude and catiliana
Definitely my song to put on when driving in the city!!
It has dark lyrics but it's perfect.
every time this song plays on a rainy day in gta 3 driving around in a kuruma near shoreside vale
This person GTAs 🤘🏼
Still rockin in 22 lol
one of my favorite songs from video game I love this song a males voice is unknown his name is Craig Gray I can't find him on the internet but this came out in October 2001 that same year and month I turned 10 years old miss those old days I was born in 1991 the early 1990s yep 91 all myself watching my older brother playing it came with a poster and everything it was so cool the songs the gameplay was amazing Rockstar Games did the best outstanding job back in 2001 I was going to school nothing like School days glad that's over but I do miss 2001 my good life the 2000s was my childhood even 1991 the year I was born which is the 1990s all those years I was in crazy 26 years old I will be today and in 2021 I will be 30 years old in 4 years down the road it's amazing very amazing I truly came this love Grand Theft Auto 3 it's classic we ever played on our PlayStation 2.
When Grand Theft Auto III came out in 2001 I was only 9 years old when it came out in October my brother played it that time those was the days back then having a Playstation 2 for the first time was great.
This was the most memorable song in the game for me. Takes me back to 2001, being in 9th grade and that Fall season with so many iconic PS2 games being released.
thanks ROCKSTAR for those memories and this song,CLASSIC
Thank you SO much for posting this. I've been wanting a "clean" version of this song for over a decade. Why Rockstar didn't make an official version of this song from the beginning has had me angry for so many years.
this is one, or if not the most exciting and beautiful song in all of GTA, this melancholy tone that has in the music makes everything more amazing in this song, simply one of my favorites of all the gta franchise
I played this at work and omg what a reaction!
I want back 2000s 🥺😫
We peaked as a society I legit believe that. Technology and entertainment was perfect.
I'm surprised that a non-licensed song that was made pacifically for the game is actually one of my favorite songs to be used in the whole GTA series, it's easily the best song in III.
One of my favorite songs, period. Well done.
All head radio songs are awesome in gta 3
I Love this song!!!! i remember when i first played GTA 3---I would stay up all night playing and in the game i would just drive in the middle of the night all over the city to that song. What a great intro to gaming memory! =)))
This song definetly reminds me of the day AFC Bournemouth were promoted to the Premierleague for the 1st time in their football club history back in 2014/15 football season ⚽️⚽️⚽️
This song reminds me of early to mid 2010s, I don't know why
2009-2012. Sounds like some stuff in the EDM scene at the time. Not production-wise, but the vibe, the chords etc. Reminds me of deadmau5 personally
*If a deep house DJ or producer remixed this, it would be a massive hit*
The picture is slowly zooming out :33
:3
This song gets me everytime. So nostalgic now and days.
I'm 25 now and this was my favorite song in the game especially when i drove my multicolored banshees.
By now you’re 30. I’m 23. What do I have in store the next 7 years? :/
Driving in the rain in Portland staring out to the skyscrapers of Staunton Island…
HeadRadio don't stop rock :)
The Darkest Song in the Game...
Hearing this again after the announcement trailer for the Remastered Trilogy came out today hits hard.
In the navy
you can sail the seven seas
Cheeky Kent and be caught by pirates
Hahahha aha OMG MAN!!!! lol rotfl
There's a place you can go
i see pain yo futurrre
This and Lucy always give me nightmares about 9/11… I was deeply affected by the attacks as a small child in the city.. I had drawings of the towers and the attacks. I was only 5 years old.. My mother still has them somewhere. They were very eerie in depicting the event in a child’s point of view. The whole event heavily influenced me in becoming a first responder later on in my life…
Who’s here in 2024? 🤔

Every time i go to Staunton island, this song plays.I really like this song!
Driving around Red Light Destrict in a banshee on a rainy weather with this song on. GTA III was way ahead of its time.
glad to hear a version without the radio voice individual in the end... kinda takes away the mood stuff
This so song is ahead of its time
I never really noticed this song whenever I played GTA 3.
It somehow got my attention once I started playing GTA 3 again and youtube just recommended this song to me.
This is truly a masterpiece in my opinion, made for nothing else but GTA 3.
I love this fckng Song!! from Colombia :)
I love this music !
Good memory of the excellent GTA 3 !
