HEY, WAIT THAT IS NOT A DORM ROOM THAT IS AN APARTMENT !!! That’s something I’ve never seen at any school!! And loving the pink doors, I admire how organized you guys all are, If it was me, My roommates would excommunicated Me
I am so glad the page could be of help to you all! Grateful to have led your bus group this past weekend and hope you enjoyed your SCAD experience. Please let me know if you have questions about anything! I’d be happy to answer the best I can.
I really enjoyed the video!!!! It is literally 2:17 am and I’ve been looking at video etc on this school for 2hrs and I’ve completely fell In love!!!! Graduated high school in June 23 and im taking a small break and I plan on enrolling for here in the spring🩶
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching. That’s awesome! Wishing you the best of luck for your spring enrollment. Let me know if you have any questions in the future.
39 y/o alumni, same! I was at Dyson House, which I think was demolished to make way for the Hive. (It was a janky old motel, this is so much nicer). Turner House was brand new when I was there.
Hi, great video. My daughter starts in the fall. Super helpful. I noticed under your desk it looks like you have an electricity strip. Does this come with the desk/room or did you purchase it. Did you love being in the end dorm with the extra windows or would you have preferred to be in a different dorm assuming others would be closer to the cafeteria and busses? tia
Oh, geez.....I'm so sorry. I wasn't done with your video yet when I asked the question ^^^^. I resumed the video and there it was....the answer. lol I thought you were done with the desk info and moving on so I stopped to ask the question.
Greetings! I am so glad this could be helpful for you all and I wish your daughter the best of luck this fall! While we didn’t get to choose where we were placed, if I did, I believe I would have without a doubt taken the dorm room with the extra window arrangement over being closer to the elevators and front of the building! Having the natural light just opened up the space and lifted the mood in our dorm. We also got a lot less foot traffic from being at the end. No worries at all! I’m glad the video and description were able to help you with the power extension cord strip question! I did purchase and bring it myself but made sure it was per standard of the housing policies.
@@ShandrikaRenee Hi there! I'm so glad the video could be of help to you! My mom actually picked it up for me at a hardware store before move-in. I believe it was Menards if you'd like to check there. The housing policies are linked in the description of this video if you'd like to read about what all is allowed. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hi, Niah-This is a great video. Very informative, thank you. Do you remember where you purchased the large racks you use in the toilet room (large white one that all have separate bins)/ Around 7:18 in the video? Thanks so much!
Thank you very much! My daughter is moving into the Hive next month. Could you possibly give links or dimensions to the under desk cart, the bathroom shelving, and the hallway cart? Those look like they would work great but not sure what to get that will fit - thanks for the video and your time!
Hi Niah-your video is very helpful-thank you! Did your dorm suite come with boring things like a toilet brush and plunger, fire extinguisher, and carbon monoxide detector? My daughter will room at the Hive in September and would like confirmation that the couch, coffee and end tables, and console are provided. Thanks!
Hi there! I’m so glad the video could be help to you all! We brought our own toilet plunger and brushes. There are provided fire extinguishers in the hallways. I cannot recall if there was a carbon monoxide detector or not in there but we definitely had smoke detectors. The moveable furniture that comes with the dorm are the two end tables, tv cabinet, couch, living room table, and two ottomans. In the bedrooms, the beds, desks, chair, closets, and night stands all come with the room. Everything else is up to you all. Feel free to look through the housing policies linked in the description of this video for more helpful information regarding items. Wishing your daughter the very best in the fall!
Hi! thank you so so much for this video!! The one thing I'm struggling to find right now is a couch cover. Is there any chance you know the approximate couch measurements? (even just a guess as to how many feet long it is) I know that's a rather specific question, so I'd also just be happy to know where you got your it or what you looked up in order to find one!!
Hi there! Thank you so much for watching! I asked a sweet friend of mine living there over the summer if she could measure for you and she said that the couch is roughly 6ft long and 3 ft deep/wide. Here’s the link to the cover my suite-mate ordered for us I believe: a.co/d/enkMKY2 Have a great fall quarter and let me know if you have any more questions!
Hello! The video is great and super informative! I really appreciate it! I was wondering if you got the chance to meet your roommates before you actually moved in? I’m extremely introverted so I struggle with meeting people on the spot and was hoping you could lend some guidance onto that. Thank you so much!!
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching. I’m glad it could be of help to you! I actually talk all about finding my roommates before coming to SCAD at the beginning of my q&a video linked here: m.th-cam.com/video/MJ8sKfxd0F8/w-d-xo.html Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions after watching :)

Hi!! This video is really useful, thank you! I was wondering what the rules are regarding hanging things up using pins/nails. I know some places permit holes up to the size of a dime, but due to your mentioning of command hooks it seems like maybe no holes are allowed?
Hi there! I’m so glad it could help you! I used thumbtacks and command strips for all of my decor as nails are not allowed. Here is the quote about it from the housing license agreement: “Use of nails, screws, and adhesives that damage walls, furniture, or fixtures is prohibited. The use of thumbtacks is permitted.”
Hello sweetie. I love your content- thanks for the dorm tour! Can freshman bring a car and park at the Hive? Does the ac work well? Where could I find a slip cover for the sofa? Thanks again
Thank you so much for watching! Yes! Freshman can bring a car and park at the Hive as long as they register it with SCAD to get a parking pass sticker. The AC does work well! Each dorm room has control over their own. However, the lowest temperature it goes to when it is warm out is 68 degrees. When it is cooler in the winter, you can turn it down more if you wish. I have a mini-fan in my room that I would use every now and then if I got warm at night. My suite-mate ordered us a couch slip-cover online- I believe from Amazon!
Hi there! Great question. I listed these measurements along with some others throughout the dorm, and helpful links in the description of this video! - Underneath bed from SPRINGS to the floor - about 24 inches - Underneath bed from bed BORDER to the floor - about 21 inches Wishing you the best of luck this fall!
@@niah_jo Also, I was wondering how many inches were in between the desk poles and the chair, like how much room is there under the desk if the chair is in there.
@@TTreeseUnfortunately, I am no longer living there and am unsure of the exact spacing between the chair and the poles but I did list desk to the floor and between the desk poles measurements in the description. I also was able to fit a rollaway cart next to my chair which was nice!
I’m so glad it could help you! Unfortunately, I do not know and have moved out already. Otherwise, I would have totally measured for you! However, in the description of this video are links to the residence hall information provided by SCAD, housing policies, measurements of some things in the room, and another video that shows some more measurements that will hopefully give you an idea of all that can fit in the room and the size.
I asked a sweet friend of mine living there over the summer if she could measure for you and she said that the bedroom appears to be roughly 15ft by 11ft. Let me know if you have any other questions!
In the Hive, all rooms are set up with those equities! However, there are different residence halls with other setups. See this link to read about all the different qualities of the dorms! www.scad.edu/life/residence-life/residence-halls
