Thanks Barry. Looking forward to these videos. Love all the videos you do on all your books with your absolutely brilliant thanks again George in Stoke 🪰🦟🎣
I bought one of these at the UK BFFi in Feb this year as I use the split thread technique a lot. It's quite impressive, well made, good quality and certainly up to the job designed for. However, it is longer and much more bulky than my other bobbin holders (I use Rite and TMC). I have to adjust my vise to full height. There's also a bit of a lip in the tube which is annoying when threading, even with their bobbin threader. Nice informative video Barry.
A bit of a frugal tier myself, I see one dedicated for floss spools and one for dubbing loops. I've been waiting for a quality rotating bobbin for floss spools for some time, but your dubbing loop demonstration sold me for a multiple purchase.
Great review! I am trying this bobbin and after the first couple my first observation is that it is very big and a bit unwieldy. Probably great for big salt water flies but I’m struggling with little trout flies. Also I have to adjust my grip because I usually hold the bobbin pretty close to the tip but on this bobbin that will negate the bobbin spinning to keep the thread flat. So adjusting my grip is an awkward adjustment that will take some getting used to …. Very well made and solid, like the concept but old habits die hard …
@@Thefeatherbender Thank you Barry for telling me that. The Marc Petitjean bobbin looks a super bobbin. Like many other people I would like to thank you for sharing and showing us your depth of knowledge on fly tying. And what’s more making it accessible to the beginners. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos and have learnt lots of useful things and will no doubt continue to do so. Thanks again Barry. All the best.

I cannot believe the negativity! My choice for a bobbin is the Novice automatic bobbin which is not cheap either, but it’s what I prefer… period. Let the gentleman review the different bobbins & be less judgmental… don’t shoot the messenger. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything. I find his videos educational.
Im yor fan since I started tying. But I have to say that this is a perfect example of how to make something simple very complicated and expensive. Why would I need aeronautical grade aluminin on a bobin holder?????? Why make a rotary holder that way? as an engineer myself I can state taht doing it in the way they did is wrong: you need a bearing for that to speen really well... But putting a bearing on a bobin holder? toooooooooooo muchhhh!!!!! I think this is not a good product
Been using Rite bobbins for at least last 10 yrs and love them.

Thanks Cy, good to know...
Hi Barry what bobbin do you use typically in your videos please?
I use two David, the Petitjean TT bobbin holder and the C&F bobbin holders.

Great video! I went to your website to subscribe as you had suggested. Unfortunately I do not see an option to subscribe to your website?

Thank you, you're right. I'm not trying to push product here just be informative.
Thank you sir, very nice
Thanks Chris.
What brand of vise are you using in this video?
C&F from Japan.
@@Thefeatherbender Thank you.
New vise Barry a wee change from MP vise
I miss the Petit Jean, I'm still saving for one of those.
It's my holy grail of tying vises.
Yes where has the Petitjean Swiss Master gone?????
They look excellent vises but I’ll stick with my norvise you don’t need fancy looter bobbins norvise system does it all , each to our own 👍
Still got two, Petitjean Swiss master vises and I shan't be getting rid of them...
@@Paradise_found Quite right sir, each to their own...
I know this is about a bobbin holder, but I can't take my eyes off that vise.
It's a nice vice that I can highly recommend!
gimmick , over engineered for no reason other than to hook/catch us fisherman/fly tiers and empty our wallets
As with everything I'm afraid!
💞Wow🧡🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🧡🤍🤍
Not good. too long to spin up a simple dubbing loop and it looks awkward to use. Not to mention the price!😡
I had a similar experience.

Thanks. As I say, each to their own and don't shoot the messinger, I'm only here to inform.
Seems a little over the top, a simple gadget over complicated
I agree whole heartedly!
