Canad also has: Revenge, Blasphemy, Axis of Advance, Mitochondrion, Adversarial, Antediluvian, so yeah, it's my favorite for black metal because of these masterful bands
***** They all sound different. Born Of Osiris sounds different from Suicide Silence, wich sounds different from Thy Art Is Murder, wich sounds different from Clelsea Grin, etc.
***** I'm with you Harvest, I don't like Deathcore myself (expect some songs but whatever) but you can't deny that it's just as generic or diverse as other genres of metal. Death and Black metal both have all those small bands who just sound the same but also very good bands who just sound different, not to other people, but to fans they do. so you keep on listening what you want man. rock it with pride
A mention on Canadian Metal, Mechanism is a little side project of Gene Hoglan and Chris Valagao, I think it's really cool. I also discovered a band called Beyond Creation and the guitarist of Cryptopsy did some work with them. Their only release, The Aura, I think is really catchy, but it's the overall instrumental unit is what drew me to like them.
@Hitchhikeroftheyear Sorry dude, but Venom really was the first black metal band out there. The fact that they black metal after it changed the sound does not take away the fact that they were the first ones.
I couldn't help but notice 'Descend Into Depravity' in the background. It's definitely one of the best and most consistent metal albums I've ever heard. Really good choice. I think it's cool that you mentioned "Dig"; that's one of the songs that got me into metal in the first place. I still enjoy Mudvayne.
Loved L.D.50, still do, and Disturbed was my middle school soundtrack. My heart skipped a beat when I saw you have Audioslave! My step dad and I are huge fans! I was curious if you also like Soundgarden and Mastodon.
@Hitchhikeroftheyear Trust me dude, I got almost every album...just got their newest this week. 'Black metal' was the very first song I ever heard. I would not bullshit you just to be right in this...;-)
Infidel, have you heard of Rebellion? A great German power metal band, worth noting IMO. Lyrics of their most recent albums are about Nordic mythology and Scandinavian folklore, lore and history. Learned a lot from them.
Thank you Infidel, as always it was a pleasure to watch you video. I would like to thank you for your tips of Disturbed and Eluveitie, they are now added to my "to buy list"
Ever hear of The Agonist? I'm not sure if it's pure Canadian, but the singer, Alissa White-Gluz is Canadian, but they are a fantastic melodic death metal band if you haven't heard of them already.
I love watching these videos and being able to hear and learn about new kinds of metals and other peoples opnions of metal. Even if it's in the comments as well, I definetly just love being involved in the metal community... thanks ed \m/
Pretty awesome you mentioned LD50, Mudvayne was one of the bands that really opened me up to the world of metal. Some might have called it my "gateway drug"
gotta love how 4 of the 5 canadian metal bands you stated are from Quebec and perhaps french! Also the ex-bassist of augury is the current one of beyond creation!
@sethwoodring he doesn't like deathcore in general....but of course there are some albums that he likes, the ils of modern man by Despised Icon for example - as the other comment says. i really recommend to watch this video "just a few things"....
really good Q&A and i really enjoyed the part were you showed the bands from canada and the other bands you like apart from death metal since i didn't know some of those bands!!! also you are right that some metalheads react too much against nu metal, and it's wrong not only because everybody is entitled to express himself as he wants but also because lots of people start their journey into metal music from these type of bands!! Keep up the good work Ed \m/
@xXRockWafflesXx Right on man, I have a huge variety of music. Ranging from many different types of metal to dubstep. And the oldies. 80's metal and rock. Music, is just a relaxing and amazing thing.
Tons of people know about Strapping and Devin xD He's like one of my musical inspirations. I met him at one of his shows and he gave me a special autograph on a piece of cardboard from a beer package on which he drew a doodle of the Deconstruction art x3
I never said they HAVE superior morals. I said it's strange that these people judge others when they themselves are always judged. They do to others what they hate when people do it to them
@Infidelamsterdam I think he means that it's brilliant that you like them, and so do I! It's so great when there are metalheads who like bands like Decapitated and Dawn of Demise but also like the not to brutal stuff like Mudvayne and Disturbed!
everyone thats in to your music should look at your videos. im in to metal but not the same as you. i like heaven shall burn, the devil wear prada, august burns red and so on. but i still love to look at your videos. keep up the good work man.
Hey thanks for the response on the video!! If you get a chance to broaden the horizon of Canadian metal, I'd suggest to you Negativa, its like a technical super-group of Gorguts, Ion Dissonance and Augury. Cheers!
have you ever heard or agalloch ? they are an American band that I've seen described as folk metal. I think there very good and quite calming as metal goes.
Hey, Ed! I heard you mentioning you like Pagan/folk metal. So, I wanted to see if you heard of these bands. Tyr and Korpiklaani. They're really great bands, and have really good music. Tyr is a band from the Faeroe Islands and Korpiklaani is from Finland. So, they're strong on their culture.
Hi Ed, nice to see another Q&A.. Speaking of Canadian Metal bands I'm suprised you didn't mention Cryptopsy, they are right up your street, Melodic Death Metal, I'm pretty sure they hail from Canada but either way they have (or used to have, in my opinion) a great sound with Lord Worm as their vocalist.. crazy fella but hey, great music. What are your opinions on them may I ask? James :)
i really like Cryptopsy, Gorguts, and Neuraxis those are really good bands from Canada....oh almost forgot, Rush is a great Canadian band too(i know Rush isn't metal but i listen to them anyway...i need variety in my music lol)
i seen the part on canadian metal, there was this viking like death metal band i heard of but the name was different so i cant remember but when i do ill let yea know but other canadian bands i like is martyr theyre like a technical death metal style great band, umm odium melodic death metal theyre basically just getting started 2 albums and then there divinity i donno i just like them alot
Disturbed is good band ! I like it. In my opinion, the Black Metal and Death Metal have to walk together, no matter if it's melodic, symphonic, progressive, they are great styles and I like both.
Glad to hear that you like Disturbed, I fucking love 'em. Every album they released is pure class from beginning to end. They certainly don't do filler tracks!
wow! we share the same fear. It is also really hard for me to explain because I love a lot of dangerous things like snakes, tarantulas, wolves etc but I am really afraid of drowning even in shallow water (4 ft below), if you push me and I fall and my head gets submerged for just a few seconds, it would scare the hell out of me so I don't go swimming. I also like a wide range of music, I started out on Death Metal now my fave is Black & Folk Metal, I also like electro, punk, classical, folk etc
Hi Infidel, have you dwelled into much post-metal, with big names such as Intronaut or Pelican. I recommend you check it out. Not the hugest fan of nu-metal, but I've always enjoyed Deftones
@LartenCreapsly the black dahlia murder is NOT deathcore. their early, early stuff was kinda metal/deathcore, but unhallowed (first TBDM's LP) and later stuff is melodic death metal.
Hell yeah! LD.50! It scared the shit outta me one morning.. on the bus then the first track started playing and I didn't know where the hell it was coming from.. lol. I lost that album when a sibling moved thoughD:
@MetalGuitarist840 He stated in an older video about deathcore that he didnt like AoaA. hat video's actually how I found the band and I really like them :)
Hey,NICE Metal coffee mug collection! Awesome channel!
I have a couple yeah, and I am a diehard fan of 'Majesty and decay'....flawless album
Canad also has: Revenge, Blasphemy, Axis of Advance, Mitochondrion, Adversarial, Antediluvian, so yeah, it's my favorite for black metal because of these masterful bands
000 000 woah, Mitochondrion, theyre brutal
000 000 Do you follow Odium Nostrom's channel?
@ArchEnemySlayer
You're right I don't have that in my collection
00:30 - 01:00
That's what I call multitasking!
@skyfall001
Correct, but they have had their own entire video, thse other bands didn't,
Hey Infidel, I have a question, what deathcore bands do you like?
***** Ew my ass, Deathcore is as great as other metal genres.
And I already know the answer to that question. He likes JFAC, Despised Icon and Oceano.
***** Oh really? And Death Metal isn't generic?
***** They all sound different. Born Of Osiris sounds different from Suicide Silence, wich sounds different from Thy Art Is Murder, wich sounds different from Clelsea Grin, etc.
***** Nope, I can distinguish them, because they're all different.
@mojototal
I think that people know after I promoted the band Essence, that I like thrash.
Most sexy shower scene ever, I think so
@Kirril1 yeah only up to the cd 'mutter' everything after that really sucked imo
@TadyZaZ
Extended words are being said in the promotion video's.
I have a limited time to fill in the video so I can expand too much about it
@JMCfromNEWb
How known is Cryptopsy and how known is beyond creation?
Why would I always name the big and obvious names?
@99drummerboy99
I heard of them but it's not really my band
@jaketheripper66
I have their first album...;-)
I also like some American head charge
Okay, I just got finished watching the first minute of the show, and the way you present your humor improving. Actual laughter was produced!
@TheFreakzi
I have a few cd's yeah
@sonnymoorefreak07
Yes, got two cd's of them
@crazyLocko
My knowledge about that is too small to form a solid opinion about that.
@Nickemericalover123
Here in Holland we always say, 'better late then never'....
Yeah soms songs are really good.
@DeathHeretik
I never said all the questions purely have to be about metal.
@YouNoob93
some songs yeah
the perfect coffee making tutorial for anyone (but me...) ! BTW, one of the best intros you've made, Ed !! Excellent !!! Keep on going !
@FinallHit
Sorry those are not really my kinda bands
Hell yeah, I also have Ozzy and Motorhead in my collection
A mention on Canadian Metal, Mechanism is a little side project of Gene Hoglan and Chris Valagao, I think it's really cool. I also discovered a band called Beyond Creation and the guitarist of Cryptopsy did some work with them. Their only release, The Aura, I think is really catchy, but it's the overall instrumental unit is what drew me to like them.
Yeah I quited using that not long after this video...
@playstation3rules123
I only like Oceano of that list.
@Hitchhikeroftheyear
Sorry dude, but Venom really was the first black metal band out there.

I think it's cool that you mentioned "Dig"; that's one of the songs that got me into metal in the first place. I still enjoy Mudvayne.
@supersawneekfan
It's almost 600 now and it would just take too long
Agreed!
Loved L.D.50, still do, and Disturbed was my middle school soundtrack. My heart skipped a beat when I saw you have Audioslave! My step dad and I are huge fans! I was curious if you also like Soundgarden and Mastodon.
@hogmjr
No
@Hitchhikeroftheyear
Trust me dude, I got almost every album...just got their newest this week.
'Black metal' was the very first song I ever heard. I would not bullshit you just to be right in this...;-)
Awesome you like Disturbed I personally love them to bits. Great singer and great guitarist.
I really dig your view on what kind of music a band would want to play. An open mind like that is a wonderful thing.
@Metal2224 German schlagers I think....
Infidel, have you heard of Rebellion? A great German power metal band, worth noting IMO.
Lyrics of their most recent albums are about Nordic mythology and Scandinavian folklore, lore and history.
Learned a lot from them.
@ThrashOmega
Kreator, Slayer, Anthrax, Annihilator, Evile, Exeloume, Testement, Essence,
@Cymbidium91
Q&A answer for ya?
@Hitchhikeroftheyear
Because the first two bands you mention are really not my taste.

I'm glad that I'm not the only metal head kid
I have no idea what else to cal it
@BalleBaest
Haha well I was just making sure..;-)
@Hitchhikeroftheyear
Over rated how? By others? It's is just what you think it is...I don't care how others rate a certain genre or band.
@thesilentkiller555
Nope
It's funny how people always say "it's not metal" but they never say what it is then according to them...
@BeatySword
Check the spreadshirt link...;-)
Pretty awesome you mentioned LD50, Mudvayne was one of the bands that really opened me up to the world of metal. Some might have called it my "gateway drug"
@toarullesajag
Slipknot is Nu-metal.
@dorianleakey It's a term I use to help distinguish from later metal acts that are after LZ/ Deep Purple but before NWOBHM such as Rainbow.
gotta love how 4 of the 5 canadian metal bands you stated are from Quebec and perhaps french! Also the ex-bassist of augury is the current one of beyond creation!
If woods of ypres is also considered doom, then yeah I like some doom...or Cianide.
@sethwoodring he doesn't like deathcore in general....but of course there are some albums that he likes, the ils of modern man by Despised Icon for example - as the other comment says.
i really recommend to watch this video "just a few things"....

@Infidelamsterdam they are a little bit. but mostly industrial metal, metalcore, and heavy metal.
@HannahLover138
Almost, Augury...;-)
If I had to say whether it's metal or not I would say yes...
@K0sm1cKid
I like their death metal album, but their newer stuff turned into utter shit.
@raokin466
You mean my logo?
@MrHritcan
They're good but I am not the biggest fan of them
Tons of people know about Strapping and Devin xD
He's like one of my musical inspirations.
I met him at one of his shows and he gave me a special autograph on a piece of cardboard from a beer package on which he drew a doodle of the Deconstruction art x3
@TheForgotten27
That is where his name comes from indeed...;-)
I never said they HAVE superior morals. I said it's strange that these people judge others when they themselves are always judged. They do to others what they hate when people do it to them
@SkilledInMetal
Sure, sugar? Milk? Whisky?...:-p
@Infidelamsterdam I think he means that it's brilliant that you like them, and so do I! It's so great when there are metalheads who like bands like Decapitated and Dawn of Demise but also like the not to brutal stuff like Mudvayne and Disturbed!
I plan on making some Folk Metal songs of my own and I'm from America. I see nothing wrong with it. Thanks for agreeing!
everyone thats in to your music should look at your videos. im in to metal but not the same as you. i like heaven shall burn, the devil wear prada, august burns red and so on. but i still love to look at your videos. keep up the good work man.
@EpicRogueZombie
You like what you like....there's nothing bad about that.
Hey thanks for the response on the video!! If you get a chance to broaden the horizon of Canadian metal, I'd suggest to you Negativa, its like a technical super-group of Gorguts, Ion Dissonance and Augury. Cheers!
I think I have every album of nile so far..;-)
What I love is that you make your videos interesting and funny as hell! Love em all!\m/
Because?.....
I think you mean Tidfall
I really like the Nu-Metal band Ill Nino and I also really like Mudvayne, definitely one of my favorite Nu-Metal bands.
have you ever heard or agalloch ? they are an American band that I've seen described as folk metal. I think there very good and quite calming as metal goes.

@Hitchhikeroftheyear Burzum didn't form until '91 & Mayhem started already at '84 do the math!
@xXMorganIsAwsomeXx
Not good?

@flyinghobo18 I couldn't agree more. That album is something that can't remade by any other band.
No Prayer For The Dying is such and underrated album. It has a bunch of really good songs on it!
I fucking knew disturbed was goin to be next for sure when you described it as not really being metal. I also enjoy many disturbed songs
Hi Infidel, have you dwelled into much post-metal, with big names such as Intronaut or Pelican. I recommend you check it out. Not the hugest fan of nu-metal, but I've always enjoyed Deftones
Will do!..;-)
@LartenCreapsly the black dahlia murder is NOT deathcore. their early, early stuff was kinda metal/deathcore, but unhallowed (first TBDM's LP) and later stuff is melodic death metal.
@SeveredSlave yea, In Mourning is a great band!!
Hell yeah! LD.50! It scared the shit outta me one morning.. on the bus then the first track started playing and I didn't know where the hell it was coming from.. lol. I lost that album when a sibling moved thoughD:
