Cattle Decapitation is one of my favorite bands, but it really is no skin off of my teeth if you dislike them. You shouldn't have to defend your own fucking opinion.
What people really need to fucking understand is that everyone is entitled to there own opinions, everyone has their own specific tastes, and everyone is just simply different.
To say a band "sucks" is a bit blunt, and I personally would reserve it for music that is objectively bad (in before someone says music is completely subjective), but I understand that it's not like that for everyone. I have to agree with you completely on this one.
I like Cattle Decapitation and I completely agree with what you are saying! There are so many butthurt assholes out there that become overprotective about their favourite bands that they find it necessary to force their opinion on you. I think just the way that you think. I completely agree with you. Some day my friend had sent me a jazz song, I listened to it and told him that this sucks and (for me) jazz music sucks too. Then he started a monologue about that I mustn't say "something sucks" because it sounds like it was telling a fact, not my opinion; that jazz is objectively good; that I have to say "in my opinion it's not good" instead of simple "it sucks". Thank you for making this video,I have to show it to him, hope he'll finally get the fact, that if something is good or bad depends only on someone's perspective and it's never an objective thing. Oh wow same dude,heartwork and swan song were all i knew from them. But i just heard so many reviewers and people compare them to early carcass that i just had to listen to those albums.
Yeah they are very similar except I think Cattle has more of a Death Metal sound than early carcass and of course it is much better recorded haha XD I just bought the harvest floor today and me and my Gf have been jamming that shit in the car so I got my gf into Cattle and it makes me happy haha XD

There is a big difference between saying "This sucks." and saying "I Don't like this." or "This is not my taste of music". Saying it sucks is pretty disrespectful, specially when you are talking about a band that makes, pretty much, your type of music overall and is a much appreciated band among your fans. Now i'm not saying that you should choose your words, you can say anything you want basically but it would be a nice courtesy from your behalf to not just refer to a 20 year active band, as "They suck". That is just my opinion and its pretty disrespectful to me in particular. I really enjoy your videos, Ed, and I appreciate your opinion all the time, even if its not 100% identical to mine but this way of describing a band its just unnecessary. I respect your opinion but Cattle Decap is probably my favorite band ... also I kinda wish you would've talked more about their other stuff because Forced Gender is good but it's nowhere near their best song and it kinda serves as a poor example of how talented they are compared to other songs

Infidelamsterdam I have never seen you force your opinion onto anybody, not once. I don't see how this is so difficult for some people. I have had people tell me Amon Amarth sucks (which is one of my favorite bands). I just understand that it is not the type of music they like so yes it sucks to them because they have a different taste in music. I think All Shall Perish sucks. Which doesn't mean they literally suck. It means that to me they suck because it's not my taste in music.

I totally understand you and support your main point in this video. Every person is unique, if everyone thought the same, then things like opinion wouldn't exist. More or less that's one of the things that make us persons different. I also have a friend that we have some common interests in music, still we listen to opposite styles of music. We share songs and if someone doesn't like it, the other doesn't try to press his opinion on the other, neither he criticises him.

As a big fan of Cattle Decapitation and Rammstein I only can agree with your opinion about opìnions (sounds weird lol) and I always do the same. If I say that something sucks, it's fucking obvious that it's my opinion. Unfortunately a lot of people don't use their brain...

When I think something sucks then I merely mean the product they created and how it sounds to me. That does not take away any respect I have for them as musicians.

totally agree with you dude, I have problems sometimes with people sayin that my music is shit but what annoys me is that when they dont admit that that is their opinion and they cant squeeze it into their head that some people do actually like it i.e me, some people need to re-learn about respect.

I liked his video about christians and how judgmental they are, and it is true. I love metal, but I am also christian. I know from experience that metal is not satanic and is just a style of music and has nothing to do with a person's character. There are good Christians out there, but there are many judgmental pricks too, and these pricks even tick off other Christians. It states so many times in the bible that "judge and be judged" and "love your neighbor". Christians are supposed to accept others for who they are unconditionally without casting judgment on them. I completely get what you're saying here, a lot of bands rely solely on shock value for publicity instead of focusing on their music. Every band has the right to express themselves artistically but when that's the only thing going for them than its time to re-evaluate the band.

For a music video, it is really brutal stuff that is shown, even more brutal than most horror movies and it has good special effects. As a gorehound, I 'liked' the video.
But in relevance to this video I can 100% relate to you. My friend and I both listen to metal, but just different parts of the metal spectrum. We both share bands with each other and when one of doesn't the other's taste in music it doesn't matter. We still jam on guitar and we're still friends.
it's sad, that this Kind of Video is necessary, and I find it very dedicated, that you take your time and Argue with those People. Let's see whether this works on me too. Many of the Bands Ed suported in his channel in the past Months (Karach Angren, Cerebral Bore) suck! I really agree with you on this. Cattle Decapitation, ehh... im not that huge into that content but hey, whatever floats their boat, right? But, the main problem I had is peer pressure amongst my friends and his/her friends. And I had to 'like' bands and 'hate' bands that are like... ok I can't say this but I had no choice. "F***" or "Homos" or any sort of generic homophobic slurs as an insult. Including a band they dont like "sucks" Im like "What the eff is going on?" Not everyone likes this stuff. That's why we have opinions, but some of them, including mine got out of control.

i agree with you. People are entitled to their opinion and if they don't like something it should end at that. Just as it shouldn't be pushed on them after the fact. What bothers me is when someone says a band sucks, is "overrated", or is "meh", and they're basing their opinion on 30 seconds of 1 song they heard on Amazon. i guess some people like to look like the "big man of Metal" by slagging bands to make themselves look kvlt or grim or whatever. To me, that's ignorance and i think it sucks.
Well I did see a comment of Cattle a little while ago in which they seemed a little agitated, so it could be. But I don't buy someone else's words just like that. I already got him on block as well cause he was harassing more people with his whining about cattle.
Well I would never say a band is bad or does not know what they're doing, they don't have a pretty big fan base cause they're shit. But the things they create it nor for me.. I do ask people why they don't like a band I like but it's more me being interested in their perspective than me being "offended". I know your pain! When I stopped listening to Nightwish after Tarja "quit", my friends gave me alot of shit for it. And I needed to explain to them a thousand times that it just wasn't the same without Tarja's voice - that I still liked the beautiful lyrics, but it just wasn't the same. They also think I'm stupid because I think Kamelot isn't the same without Roy. :\

People aren't stupid or anything (most of the time), but it looks like a real LOT of people really has a passion for arguing, complaining and conflict. It really is a pain in the ass, but it seems to be quite widespread all over the world, so great people, like you, that are clever enough to say and think by yourself and to have individual tastes must deal with it... Infidelamsterdam I have never seen you force your opinion onto anybody, not once. I don't see how this is so difficult for some people. I have had people tell me Amon Amarth sucks (which is one of my favorite bands). I just understand that it is not the type of music they like so yes it sucks to them because they have a different taste in music. I think All Shall Perish sucks. Which doesn't mean they literally suck. It means that to me they suck because it's not my taste in music.
This stuff resonates so much to simple things these days. Such as breathing. People are offended that other people breathe. I miss these times, Ed. \m/

I totally understand you and support your main point in this video. Every person is unique, if everyone thought the same, then things like opinion wouldn't exist. More or less that's one of the things that make us persons different. I also have a friend that we have some common interests in music, still we listen to opposite styles of music. We share songs and if someone doesn't like it, the other doesn't try to press his opinion on the other, neither he criticises him.
I just saw this video for the first time, and you have the most legit argument that anybody has ever had when explaining why something is their opinion and why they are entitled to it! Keep making awesome videos man!
As a big fan of Cattle Decapitation and Rammstein I only can agree with your opinion about opìnions (sounds weird lol) and I always do the same. If I say that something sucks, it's fucking obvious that it's my opinion. Unfortunately a lot of people don't use their brain...

When I think something sucks then I merely mean the product they created and how it sounds to me. That does not take away any respect I have for them as musicians.

totally agree with you dude, I have problems sometimes with people sayin that my music is shit but what annoys me is that when they dont admit that that is their opinion and they cant squeeze it into their head that some people do actually like it i.e me, some people need to re-learn about respect.

Make a drinking out this video. Every time he says "sucks" or "my opinion". Drink! This guy is awesome and is completely right. I totally agree with everything he has said. I liked his video about christians and how judgmental they are, and it is true. I love metal, but I am also christian. I know from experience that metal is not satanic and is just a style of music and has nothing to do with a person's character. There are good Christians out there, but there are many judgmental pricks too, and these pricks even tick off other Christians. It states so many times in the bible that "judge and be judged" and "love your neighbor". Christians are supposed to accept others for who they are unconditionally without casting judgment on them. This man deserves a beer!

Well said brotha. If they don't want to state any reasons then I'm not going to badger them. I'm always going to ask why they don't like something. It's not like I'm going to get them to change their mind or anything, I just wanna know what makes them feel that way. Just saying "this sucks" isn't good enough. I wanna know why you think something sucks. No arguments, no bullshit, just a confident conversation.
I love Cattle Decapitation also but I love that you're so cool to say they suck cause it just shows that you're not gonna try to impress anyone with band taste. It's all metal so its all good, lovin the honesty too.

I completely get what you're saying here, a lot of bands rely solely on shock value for publicity instead of focusing on their music. Every band has the right to express themselves artistically but when that's the only thing going for them than its time to re-evaluate the band.

reminds me of the same question i get from people when they discover that i like metal: ''why do you listen to that stuff, it sounds like noise'' And i usually answer with: ''why do you listen to *instert genre here*? ...radio silence.....
It's just amazing how ass hurt people get over this kind of shit. Any kind of talk involving a musical opinion at all always causes some kind of drama, and the fact that you had to actually explain that to these people is pretty sad on their part. I mean, I would think it would be common sense to just move the fuck on if someone doesn't like a band you do, but people don't even have common sense anymore.

For a music video, it is really brutal stuff that is shown, even more brutal than most horror movies and it has good special effects. As a gorehound, I 'liked' the video.
But in relevance to this video I can 100% relate to you. My friend and I both listen to metal, but just different parts of the metal spectrum. We both share bands with each other and when one of doesn't the other's taste in music it doesn't matter. We still jam on guitar and we're still friends.
it's sad, that this Kind of Video is necessary, and I find it very dedicated, that you take your time and Argue with those People. Let's see whether this works on me too.
Many of the Bands Ed suported in his channel in the past Months (Karach Angren, Cerebral Bore) suck! I like Ed for his honesty and that he isn't sugarcoating anything! - just that's what missing in actual journalism.
I really agree with you on this. Cattle Decapitation, ehh... im not that huge into that content but hey, whatever floats their boat, right? But, the main problem I had is peer pressure amongst my friends and his/her friends. And I had to 'like' bands and 'hate' bands that are like... ok I can't say this but I had no choice. "F***" or "Homos" or any sort of generic homophobic slurs as an insult. Including a band they dont like "sucks" Im like "What the eff is going on?" Not everyone likes this stuff. That's why we have opinions, but some of them, including mine got out of control.

i agree with you. People are entitled to their opinion and if they don't like something it should end at that. Just as it shouldn't be pushed on them after the fact. What bothers me is when someone says a band sucks, is "overrated", or is "meh", and they're basing their opinion on 30 seconds of 1 song they heard on Amazon. i guess some people like to look like the "big man of Metal" by slagging bands to make themselves look kvlt or grim or whatever. To me, that's ignorance and i think it sucks.

I do ask people why they don't like a band I like but it's more me being interested in their perspective than me being "offended". I do completely agree with what you are saying, for instance, I have been kind of annoyed by Braindrill's vocals but that doesn't mean they suck because that is someones favorite band!

I know your pain! When I stopped listening to Nightwish after Tarja "quit", my friends gave me alot of shit for it. And I needed to explain to them a thousand times that it just wasn't the same without Tarja's voice - that I still liked the beautiful lyrics, but it just wasn't the same. They also think I'm stupid because I think Kamelot isn't the same without Roy. :\

People aren't stupid or anything (most of the time), but it looks like a real LOT of people really has a passion for arguing, complaining and conflict. It really is a pain in the ass, but it seems to be quite widespread all over the world, so great people, like you, that are clever enough to say and think by yourself and to have individual tastes must deal with it...
