I recently purchased a midnight blue factory renewed Note9 in absolutely flawless condition with a perfect screen and new battery for $171. It is so far beyond any personal gadget I have ever owned. It takes my breath away. The Note9 is the last and greatest of the era before Samsung decided to follow Apple's ridiculous "edge to edge" nonsense and RUIN the display with an obtrusive camera hole. How anyone could think that was a good idea is beyond me. The Note9 is the perfect design with just enough bezel to fit in a camera at the top AND still have true edge to edge design on the sides.
Just got mine today. Very happy with it. Prefer it to the 12 mini I had when that was new. I sent back my 12 mini after a day of using it and continued using my 2016 iPhone SE. I got this for about £170 and it feels like the most flag ship phone I’ve owned.doesn’t feel nerfed or slowed down at all like phones often are with firmware updates. Still feels quick and responsive.
Im still using my Note 9 5 yrs later but as a secondary device as the last security patch stopped last July 2022. The battery is mildly swollen as the back panel is bulging out though. I plan to continue using this when I need Android OS, but yeah it is still pretty usable.
I just upgraded to a Z Fold 3 and my son's got my Note 9. To be honest, apart from the folding screen there's not really any tangible difference between the two in my opinion.
Been using the Note 9 since Christmas 2023. I love itl It's got all my books, music, and the Opera browser. I LOVE the Opera browser. It's got a few Gravity Falls Wiki pages for offline reading.
had a note 9 since 2020 . It's fine , but for the heavier games it tends to heat up a lot . I mean ..... it's a 5 year old phone. The screen has responsiveness problems too but maybe it's just mine . I kinda still love it tho. If there's anything special i can say it's that since it's an old flagship it still has better performance than most mid ranged phones , especially the samsung A series .
I didn't have any problem in responsiveness. Maybe loads of software or apps made it slow which tends to happen but barely. I would recommend to go through and remove all unnecessary things that would help a lot

I especially noticed , and now miss the LED light notification indicator that I once had on my s10. Wish the newer phones still had that tbh
What's up with the outdated software rant? That's the reason why note 9 is not worth buying anymore? As long as its able to connect on the internet, chat, call, text it's a phone worth buying, I have a Note 8 and it still works nicely, the battery drains fast for sure but aside from that my 6 year old phone works perfectly until now, and my next phone would be note 9, why because of its the traditional features like phone jack and its got a bunch of extra accessories inside the box unlike the newer phone nowadays.
It's not explained all that well, but software updates include security patches to prevent malicious code from exploiting your device. When you think about just how much personal data is accessed via you mobile device, this is a huge concern. It'd be the equivalent of running an older OS on your PC. You might be fine for a few years, but, at some point, you'll make yourself a target. DO NOT connect a WinXP (or older) device to the internet. You will be exploited in minutes (not even exaggerating). Plus, your mobile phone is with you everywhere you go, so, if you're compromised, not only is your data at risk, but your *exact* *physical* *location* is known.

For fun I recorded a 10 sec action scene at the theaters, in pitch black. U can see the screen perfectly clear. On my note 20 it has artifacts, light goes in and out, it's not balanced. This is one of the phones with the best display to be honest. Even when Samsung introduced HR10+ to display in S10, still Note9 has the best display at that time. Now, s23Ultra has taken that spot.
Its been solid for me since new. the display just stopped working, and I'm in a panic as I can't get to my stuff.. You don't want just anyone to work on it as they have access to your data.
@@jael4132 honestly even something like an s8 a decent but even after replacing the battery u will get better battery life but don't expect to get 4-5 hours of on screen time like you might hit 4 at the most but only if your a light user but don't expect good battery life just buy a $65 power bank from Samsung and carry that around with u as its impossible to get all day battery because this is a 2018 hardware which is stilll powerful enough but approaching 5 years old mean its not as optimized and stuff, I mean if u have one but I wouldn't recommend buying this phone just cause its done with security update the lowest phone I'd recommend in 2023 is 2019 phones even if your an average users updates matters in terms of security and optimization like the s10 or note 10+ with nre battery u can stretch it to 6-7 hours of on screen time and u can find the note 10+ for $200-$250 its slowly becoming a $200 phone like I'd say don't cheap out put $50-$100 more and get the note 10+ but if u want to keep your phone longer I'd say get the s21 ultra save up a bit more its still a phone I can recommend average users to buy its as good as $1000 smartphone for around $400 and has long javity but def stay away from the note 9
Note 9 is still my daily driver... has been for years. Question to fellow Note 9 users... are your pictures overly bright? I'm not sure what the deal is but all my photos come up too bright, like the brightness slider was bumped up by 10 to 20%. It's my only real annoyance.
S23 Ultra is basically a Note because it comes with a stylus. Some of the negative issues Ultra will have makes me sketchy about upgrading to it. I'm keeping my Note 9 for now. I love it.
I bought exynos version in March around the time the s10+ launched. Nowadays battery lasts 3-4 hours max and I think the phone is on it's last legs lol. Temperature remains at 41° even when idle. Slightly cracked screen from the lower half of the left side. The back has many dents but nothing to worry about tbh. There is no power button anymore, but I can find a replacement easily. With a cover on, I'll be good to go for another year I believe. New phones aren't really exciting tbh. Flip and fold don't interest me. I would consider buying z fold 6 next year if it's cameras and battery life are at least similar to s24 ultra and if it has a built in s-pen slot. Else I'll go for either s24 ultra or s25 ultra.
2024 I just bought another one. Refurbished from Amazon. It plays games extremely well. The pixel density is HIGHER than the versions that come after it. External SD slot & Aux port make it STILL have the most useful features out of any Samsung phone. The updates are usually just adding things to take your money and make the phone LESS user friendly 9/10. I've always refused the updates till they force me. They usually make the phone worse or annoying. You can't use Bluetooth on
pt 2 You can't use Bluetooth much at all on an airplane so the audio port is needed if you travel and want music or audio books. Also 5G is getting banned completely for airports and isn't in some states at all yet. Making that feature useless. Outside of software that has barely improved, 5G thats not fully implemented and hazardous, and software updates that are not even needed. Oh and extra camera lenses...There is no phone from Apple or Samsung that's more than MARGINALLY better.
I am using note 9 for 5 years now but due to security updates and covid condition work from home, needed to upgrade for it to support company apps. I have researched and seems like there is no other way around it......once end of life....custom rom other OS nothing works......lot of headache with banking apps and all....
I no longer use my note 9. I use my note 20 ultra which is probably the last good note the only thing missing is the jack. I do have it as back up though.
Has all of the Note phone perks along with the card slot expandable storage and a much wanted 3.5 jack !!! Samsung hello? Why oh why do the current flagship phones lack such incredibly useful specs? Im just stalling on buying anything now. I want an S23 or S24 Ultra. Seriously not buying either yet for the lack of those two specs.
There is not much a difference from this phone and the newest Samsung. I mean yeah you get more storage but I've never even gotten close to using half the storage on my note 9. This phone is still on top as far as phone Quality and features. Only thing that sucks about the note 9 is the goofy curved screen I would much rather a flat screen.
Really? Storage is the only thing you mentioned on the new 2023 phones. Have you looked at the specs of the new phones? They perform better in just about every category. Larger battery, more ram, 120hz refresh rate, better cameras, state of the art chipset, 5g capability, new technology, etc...and the note 9 doesn't receive software updates anymore. (I own a note 9 btw). In terms of future security and performance....note 9 doesn't compare to today's phones. Storage should never be a buying point of a phone, imo. We live in the cloud these days.
Samsung's camera tech has improved *substantially* since Note 9, and more sensors have been added, allowing for some pretty amazing photos/videos even at a distance. Not saying that alone justifies an extra expenditure for you, but others will definitely find value/utility in this. Also, the newer 'Notes' (S21, S22, S23 Ultras) no longer feature MicroSD slots, so I'd argue storage has been downgraded on newer Samsungs. (It's now a paid feature/limitation ala Apple.) I agree with you on flatscreens. Curved is such a gimmick.

These were the last of the truly perfect designs before Samsung stupidly followed Apple with the "edge to edge" display crap with camera holes and notches inside the display.
no issue after 4 year. love it
i just got this phone. my father just gave me his galaxy note 9 since he isnt using it anymore, he switching to galaxy note 20 ultra 5g and i will continue his galaxy note 9 legacy from 2018 🙌🏼
I still have my note 9 . Going to keep it!
Still using my N9 five years later. Its a work device but doesnt have any important files on it. Still going strong.
What's the big issue with software? Most people are still rocking android 9 and it's still perfectly fine
i mean, my note 9 has android 13 one ui 5.1 so I've got no complaints.

I'm a recovering iOS user. I'm busy switching to Android, this has been a refreshing experience.
Why isn't it updated anymore ? Its better than some current phones ! Its not like it can't handle it .
I plan to continue using this when I need Android OS, but yeah it is still pretty usable.
im currently using my note 9 with a custom rom running on android 13 (one ui 5.0)..hehehe..still happy with it..
Any major issue on normal phone functionality and battery life?
Performance is ok?
Oh? Can you share some more details? I haven't messed with custom ROMs since I don't even know- Android 4?
its noble rom 3.2 for the N960F.
performance is ok. There is a short bugs list on the noble rom xda page.
Probably worth rocking it for another 1.5 years if u have it, but it's not worth getting now if u don't.
Imagine the jump from note 9 to s25 ultra 💀
Love the note 9 gonna keep mine and use it till completely unusable. Bought it brand new in 2020
I just upgraded to a Z Fold 3 and my son's got my Note 9. To be honest, apart from the folding screen there's not really any tangible difference between the two in my opinion.
The last galaxys with a LED notification light too
what even makes software updates important? I still use my note9 in 2024 and its still performes perfect just 20-25% less battery capacity
Best Samsung phone they ever made in my eyes. Still using it to this day
Been using the Note 9 since Christmas 2023.

SEPT 23 from Nov 18. NOTE 9 in Defender Otterbox case I have used the daylights of this phone for 5 years dropped many times and recently required replacing the charge port as a result of not removing the original phone wrap and pinching inside the charge port my fault. Without my Note 9 for a few days due to repair I decided to purchase a contract free phone and keep the 9 as a back up phone. Interesting just about to switch my sim Card from Note 9 to Note 20 non ultra....
I was going to keep the 9 as the back up phone
I suspect the 20 will become the back up in under a month.

Just bought one as a backup as my S22 is showing signs of possibly going down. im very happy with it. I understand it doesnt have the lstest software and will not be eligible for it, but im cool with that. it does precisely what I need it to do.

How u do this
Right now Note 9 is my main phone still. I bought my refurbished Note 9 in 2022 and except battery life everything is just awesome with this phone.
Damn! Didn't expect anyone would make a video on it now... I bought at launch and still have it and typing from it.. 5+ years and counting.. I replaced the battery but the phone is super rocking.. I used a case for 5 years now I am using without case and it feels godly.. I bought the iPhone 15 Pro Max to replace this and honestly iOS sucks after using this phone for 5 years.. so I decided to sell the iPhone Pro Max and keep this one.. gonna keep it till it dies.. Best Note Phone ever.. the new Note phones or Ultra just sucks with the edge shape
Just bought another brand new one a week ago. Bought 1st one a few years ago. Screens busted up but still operates like new. New one was cheaper than a new screen...no brainer.
New software? Note 9 does more than you could ever hope to use.
Software includes security patches. That is your biggest concern when using an older computing device.
This was also one of the last phones made to last. The new ones break if you drop once even with a otter box. The note 9 is still very much peak.
Although it has slowed down compared to the newer phones i still love my note 9. Im not into games, as long as the you tube , fb and messenger it is atill good.
If your looking for a amazing phone that will never have issues has tons of space a fore camera and can play games get a note 9. The battery last 24 hours easily and on battery saver mode u get like 4 to 5 days. Best phone I ever had no contest. These new samsungs are the same as the note 9 just a bit more ram and better camera also new ones font have expanded memory slot...get a note 9.
Just bought one for my 9 year old. Since she liked the s pen on my 23 ultra. Bought it earlier and start it to set it up for her and I'm like wow this phone is still nice lol.
Plus, your mobile phone is with you everywhere you go, so, if you're compromised, not only is your data at risk, but your *exact* *physical* *location* is known.
honestly the note 9 is a great phone, the only problem i have with it is the lack of support, i would like to see a newer version of one ui or android on it, still use mine.
Using mine since 2018, without any issue, never updated the software since 2019
Have note since day one in 2018 never have problem , still have solid performance have 512gb model plus 512gb samsung high speed SD do over 1Tb off storage !!!!!
sd expansion supports up to 4TB btw :)

yea the note 9 is crazy good. I've recorded 4k video on it and my note 20 still can't match it. Also noticed night videos are crazy nice on it. For fun I recorded a 10 sec action scene at the theaters, in pitch black. U can see the screen perfectly clear. On my note 20 it has artifacts, light goes in and out, it's not balanced. It's blurry becuz of the light from the screen being too strong. But on the note 9 it wasn't like that. It looked so good.
@@YoYo-be4ow Now thats crazy like i was saying everything seems like a downgrade compared to the Note 9
@@rickywalker1304My 13 pro max feels like a downgrade from my galaxy note 8 at times too. Some of my note 8 photos look more sharp then my iPhone photos. I noticed it today. The screen on my iPhone doesn’t look as good for some reason as my note 8

Just bought a s23 ultra on sale and have no idea why. Ibe had my jote since release and its still perfect
Mine still rock solid!! I havent use my pen yet lol its just i bought it because back then its popular lol
I plan to buy this note 9 I don’t know when but I want this flagship phone until now. And i want to comparison with my iPhone XR same 2018 released.
Better to get the FE series or at least Note 10 lite since it's still getting updates
It's a more fair comparison with the xs n not the xr it belows the xs in pretty much every ways besides software support
My sister have samsung galaxy note 10 lite
its a good phone if you find around 150 then change the battery. it still run 99% of the apps
No my friend, its like day one
The camera quality has gone down tho in my experience. brought my note 9 on 2k18 and still using it .I plan to use it another 2-4 years
Why'd he say not to buy it if he considers it a good phone for 2023 still? The WAY he said it made it sound like garbage, too.
He does not consider buying it for some people because of the software. It didn't get any software updates.
I had the note 9 when it came out and now I have the z fold 4. Oh how war tech has come
Brought one for 20 bucks 512gb it was cracked front and back but was still worth it
My note 9 is still going strong
I still use my Note 8 for work and use my Note 9 as my primary phone. The note 8 is still going strong. I think it might outlast my note 9.
Got some screen burn on mine, really like this phone, can i get it repaired, is it worth it.
got burn too.
Got burns on mine too.
The Notes I've owned: Note 3, Note 4, Note 4 Edge, Note 5, Note 8 & Note 9. When the time comes this year, which phone should I get next?
S23 Ultra is basically a Note because it comes with a stylus. Some of the negative issues Ultra will have makes me sketchy about upgrading to it. I'm keeping my Note 9 for now. I love it.
@@frankt... still using my note9 since 2018. what neg reviews are you hearing? thinking about upgrading, so feedback welcomed.
Do u get green display issue even if you don't drop it?
Its still a beast. But I'm now finding that some apps no longer work on the device, including my house alarm!
Thinking of getting this one just for work? Is it still something that I should consider?
I'll be only using it for application of our company though
I am using note 9 for 5 years now but due to security updates and covid condition work from home, needed to upgrade for it to support company apps.
I have researched and seems like there is no other way around it......once end of life....custom rom other OS nothing works......lot of headache with banking apps and all....
I no longer use my note 9. I use my note 20 ultra which is probably the last good note the only thing missing is the jack. I do have it as back up though.
How many battery hours you have with your note 9???
Was the note 9 camera better than pixel 3?
Wouldn't installing the newest android os on it make it still a good phone since the hardware is good?
I like the phones with no punch hole camera.
How can i buy it in 2023
Has all of the Note phone perks along with the card slot expandable storage and a much wanted 3.5 jack !!!
Samsung hello?
Why oh why do the current flagship phones lack such incredibly useful specs?
Im just stalling on buying anything now. I want an S23 or S24 Ultra. Seriously not buying either yet for the lack of those two specs.
i should have chosen this instead of H mate 20 pro :((
Dang...2018 was five years ago-
There is not much a difference from this phone and the newest Samsung.
(It's now a paid feature/limitation ala Apple.)
I agree with you on flatscreens. Curved is such a gimmick.
Still using my Note 9 8GB/512GB comparing it to latest Samsung flagship today makes me disappointed. Latest flagships aint worth my money anymore.
*I WILL NEVER UPGRADE TILL CAMERAS AND SENSORS ARE APPLIED TO NEW PHONE IN SAME WAY THEY WERE THE NOTE 9.PERIOD.END OF DISCUSSION.*
*AND I MUST ADD.I* *UPGRADED FROM THE* *NOTE 3.* *IT LITTERALY* *TOOK THEM THAT FKN* *LONG TO DO IT RIGHT* *FOR ME FINALLY TO GET* *A NEW PHONE.*
