My problem at the track on my Bren-Tuned 2023 S1000RR was an extra long delay when quick shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. All other quick shifts and downshifts were perfect. I forgot I had changed the clutch lever. I’m glad I was referred to this post. I adjusted the clutch slack and voila! Quick shifts are working normally. Thank you for posting this.
i appreciate the timely video, considering the issues i’ve been having on my 2023 s1k that being said i’ve tried everything you’ve stated in your video to no avail so far. tried holding the lever out, adjusting the clutch, dealer replaced the micro switch, dealer even gave me an aftermarket lever to try and no progress. I even personally tried an aftermarket quick shifter that worked perfectly for about 300 miles until it just stopped working, unless i would jiggle it at a red light (which would get it to work for about 20ish miles before it would stop working again). no reinstallation process could get it to work like it did before, so strange. starting to think it’s just something wrong with the computer on the bike, especially with others in my area are having the same issue without any fix either
@@thoughtaken might want to check wiring and make sure you’re getting continuity under riding conditions. If all else fails, go back to 100% stock on everything related to the QS and lever, then do a trans adapt, tps adapt, throttle valve adapt. If that doesn’t help then log tps to see if that’s having issues, as that may also be a cause for a no shift situation.
@@BT_Moto i appreciate your knowledge, im exploring my lemon law options with my bike at the moment though. i hope with the next gen’s they make a more reliable platform, i can imagine dealing with people blaming your tunes for BMW’s manufacturing processes gets exhausting
I replaced a lot of clutch switches when I was working at a BMW Motorrad dealership. It doesn't only happen on the S1K; it also happens to the GS, K1600, and RT. You can bend the tabs back to make it work, but eventually, they will bend again.
@@BT_Moto The problem might happen more on S1K because they have a clutch cable compared to the others ones that are hydraulic. So it has more free play and has to be adjusted more frequently. At least thats what makes sense to me, I might be wrong though.
Great video, I have the 2024 S1000RR and noticed this issue on the track and some on the street going from 4th gear to 5th gear underload. I am going to trying these adjustments and test again. I have the Full Arrow Comp EVO and Stage 1 Tune with 1600 miles on the bike.
Had same issue on the track, I tried to adjust my rearset and shift lever, but nothing worked. So I had the great idea to push the clutch lever like you did, and « voila » problem solved!

Common problem that’s been around for a long time with the S1000, not just this generation. Earlier models have a bracket you can rotate to bypass the switch. No need to adjust the tension if you don’t want to.
Believe it or not it’s a thing. my friend had the same issue that micro switch is very sensitive and he has a 2021 before this video this video came out he was reading on the forums. He adjusted the clutch lever and it fixed the issue. And he has 12,000 miles on it
Great video !! I'm having the same issue in the SFV4 from 5th to 6th BUT I have a Brembo without microswitch now what could be the fix here? I have adjust from 18 to 20 on the lever having the same result either caught in neutral or simple it won't change gear. What could be wrong ? Thanks
Damn I was having this issue when I first unlock my 24 S1K… I was wondering why my bike wouldn’t shift after 4th or 5th then I realized it’s the wind blowing the clutch lever back so then I started riding with my index finger pushing it out 😂😂
Same problem on my 2024 S1K when going from 5th to 6th at high rpm 150+mph The gear indicator goes blank and it just stops revving until I let off the throttle and back again then it catches the gear…
I have the same problem when I downgrade from 6 or 5 or 4 when I walk hard and downgrade it does the same thing to me as you the speedometer disappears and I hear the click in the gearbox
Break in service is very important, but mechanics at dealerships usually don't check shit. You're lucky if they at least change the oil and clean the oil filters.

Great advice and helping riders understand how their bikes function with the advancements in technology.
I’ve hardly ridden my bike since tuning it due to this issue.. just went and adjusted my clutch, can’t wait to test it out next time I get the chance.
This worked for my 23 s1k. Violent shifting after lever change. Now it's tight and shifts about 95% better!
Thank you. Mine was def not set up correctly from the dealership... at least 1.5 turns out...

put the lever guard also on the clutch side, and the wind will not pushing the lever so much, or at all

Bt please talk about throttle body issues when RPMs go slowly that twist grip throttle specially on k67 model u need to change throttle body
Hard accelerations also cause the lever to get push back.

BTW bike is new and has 2000 miles barely.
It’s the clutch issue, mine did this as well. It’s so sketchy. I had a tech tighten mine and the issue stopped
On the track we just flip the metal bracket to keep the lower switch engaged permanently. It's 30 percent deflection to activate the switch
