I'm still making Grixis work, but the inclusion of Essence Scatter in the main for game one RDW, I see your point. Tough some red removal is always the trick that helps in the matchup.
Love the commentary and will have to say you and I agree a good amount on a good number of things not only this deck but others as well. Love that you do not only competitive Magic but casual budget as well. Keep up the great videos and look forward to your next one and good luck getting to 70K and beyond.
Maybe create an Esper Cycling deck using two Search for Azcanta? Maybe make it a "Haven Search" style deck? Not sure. The Haven would be from Drake Haven.
At the 2 minute mark of your video you mentioned that the Scarab God cannot be exiled. That doesn't seem true by reading its abilities. It comes back from the graveyard but not from exile. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
So, 'Search for the Scarab God'-control then huh ;) ... tnx for sharing, not playing this any time soon *cough* budget *cough*, but with a sort of 'fixed' meta between those 3~5 decks, it should be possible to get underneath this deck, and still 'control' the rest. Guess i be looking to a R/U spells variant again, with a control suite in the side.
Myself and another player ran UB Control at a PPTQ last week and we both got destroyed by Temur energy. Seem like the only good match up against Temur is also Temur
I think that switching all the Supreme Wills for Essence Scatter is a mistake. You already have enough creature removal, sure Essence Scatter is the best answer to Bristling Hydra, but still, that much creature removal is way to much, I think a couple sweepers (Bontu Last Reckoning) and all the Supremes are a must in the main. This version of the deck probably have a bad matchup against U/W approach or any other control version with more versatile countermagic.
I play 2 ipnu so o can milk myself for search for azcanta as the control matchup revolves around a flipped search more than anything. I’ve also gone to having 2 hostage takers in the sideboard as it is just a great way to counter Hazoret and Scarab God. Take their stuff and just cast their creature. It’s actually preformed very well.i usually cut a vraskas comtempt always and censor on the draw most of the time for negates and hostage takers. I also have one gonti side board over the blood fast as that card as never impressed me and gonti can sometimes just be insane in a matchup. If you look at the US nationals winning list he has swapped out the contraband kingpins for gifted aetherborns and glint sleeves in the side board to bring in 8 early drops vs control matchups while they are siding out fatal push and early removal only to be over run by a card drawing mad women 2 drop. This deck just has a lot of variety in the board and I few slots in the main that are flexible but overall the deck is solid. I’ve gone 3-0,4-0,4-0,3-1. Since building it 2-3 weeks ago

Zachary Chatham That is the point.... he can die. Scarab God brings him back as a 4/4 and his etb triggers again. In one game my opponent never really played him. He had a blue creature card (can not remember the name... help me out please) that can look at the top three cards of a library and than it mills. He milled himself for search for azcantha and then pulled his hostage takers later on.
While true, it's the only card in the deck that does so and it's in the sideboard. I was more surprised it wasn't even mentioned at all in the video than concerned about not having any way to handle it, considering pre-sideboard, Carnage Tyrant just wins against this deck.
snakeman830 carnage tyrant is of very little concern when you can double chump with their reanimated dinosaurs or other guys, then swing back at them. If it's a really big concern for you in particular try running Vizier of Many Faces, as he can copy Tyrant without targeting, shutting it down.
Jay Marano flip search for azcanta easier and filters itself. also can counter anything if they don't have 1 mana to pay for it. spell pierce is worse in the current meta.
The Scarab God ability needs a rule changing, they shouldn't be able to do it as instant speed. He is very broken, if they fix that ruling than he won't as OP. Also $45.00 for a stupid card is retarded. No card in standard should be more than $20.00.

I saw ipnu rivulet in the mana base as a mirror breaker, because the mirror often comes down to milling and it helps you win the race.
And it is good against U/W approach

I think you could scrap 1 censor or essence scatter or move them to the sideboard for a supreme will in the main. Other than that I really like it.

I play consign // oblivion. It's very powerful. I beat tokens with no hassle.
What is a budget option for this deck? I am trying to build a U/B budget deck. It's a bit unorthodox. Mill w/discard.

Depends on the local meta. I've been playing 4 Essence Scatter in my UB since Ixalan meta and I rarely ever need to take them out
I actually switched to UW cause I keep seeing tokens in my meta and this deck has literally no game 1 against it.

Lee Penrose 5 win cons is enough. You pretty much cut the 4th Gearhulk for the third Azcanta. The 4th Gearhulk makes the curve a bit too heavy

I used to 1 or 2 of him, but he died too easily due to only 3 toughness. So I cut him from the team.
