I think Siren Stormtamer is better than Daring Saboteur. It's inherently evasive, even if not outright unblockable, so it can either be an aura dump if you really need it, or be left up to counter a removal spell at a more relevant creature. I'd also run 2 more in the side against removal-heavy matchups.
Hey, just wanted to say I really love your videos, as a beginner player looking to get into Casual Friday night MTG, these deck build videos really help out a tonne with the explanations on how to use them and how they work. $25 decks makes casual MTG more affordable compared to the over hundreds of dollars deck out there esp for those outside the US which could translate into multiple hundreds.
Been brewing several Sram decks, he's a cool little dude. ....and I miss Rabid Wombat! I used to have to build decks out of the cast offs from others people's cards and the Wombat was always there for me.
Dev, You saved me again! When my Jace(Vryn's Prodigy) rotated I thought "well... what can I play now?"(it was a Budget Control Deck with 2 Jaces I opened when I started playing, not CoCo for the Curious ones) and you uploaded the Budget version of Spirits, tried it and loved it, so when Spirits rotated out, I thought "what can I play now at FNMs? My economical situation us worse now..."... and just in time, you come with this deck! Which is not only cheap, but looks like a REALLY fun deck! So I'll test it in Cockatrice and, hopefully buy it in my Local Store!
I have built and played this deck at fnm and it got me to place in the top 4 finishing in second over all. I love this deck, and would highly recommend it to all players new or seasoned keep up the great decks Dev.
Tried it today at FNM. Didn't use a sideboard but had the full MB. Came in last place of 8. Won a few games but lost all matches. Faced Energy twice though, and the other match up was a weird homebrew that I got mana screwed against. 20 lands is rough when you need certain colours. Once you get the treasures rolling or sram kept alive then it's less of an issue but early games mana is rough. Will try rebuilding the mana base with some better lands one of these days. Was fun winning a game against energy though using a 7 power 1CC Slither Blade though, the guy got pretty salty lol
I built this deck with Adonto Vangard as its star along side Sram. I've been wrecking mono red and B/R aggro. If you slap a squire's devotion on a AV its ability is free and you get a blood sucker. Swinging in with a 6 or 7 power flying lifelink firststriker thst is hard to kill just feels good.
I am working on a commit to wreckage deck that works around sorceries that create tokens and then settle the wreckage on them to mana ramp. pull from tomorrow to take advantage of the mana and commit to memory to refill hand and library.
This is an interesting deck idea. I have a friend thats having a bit of a "what deck to use" crisis. His room mate and other friend is playing energy and he cant beat him. So hes a little discouraged atm. I think hed like this
I would definitely take out two basic Plains and go up to 4 Shefet Dunes. Yes, you'll have to ping yourself on occasion, but life is a resource and paying some to make sure you have Shefet Dunes when you need it is a fair price.

hmm, I don't know about river sneak. I might rather add in more daring saboteur and maybe add a couple of siren stormtamers which can also help keep your dudes alive.
That's what I'm thinking. With some tinkering, this could be a pirate theme deck that utilizes Fell Flagship and Pirate's Cutlass while still staying on theme with Sram
Always good stuff! I dont know about your meta, but if I'm playing white, I'm playing solemnity in the main. A solemnity on turn 3 can completely ruin an energy decks day. Due to the low land count, maybe unsummon is a good option for this deck as well? And maybe Ornithopter, especially to slow aggro. Turn one Ornithopter + cartouche would be frustrating.

What would the addition of red with valduk, and champ of the flame which have buffs for each aura or equipment on them. The white paragon is also very important due to making auras and equipment cost one generic less. These are dominaria cards and I assume that this was made before dominaria. Thanks for making a deck which is very similar to my own.
Aethersphere Harvester is $3.50 so it blows the budget, but if you have them, you could certainly play them. Unfortunately, Ixalan's Binding and Cast Out are enchantments, not Auras so they're not a great fit for the deck and Cast Out is over $1 now.
Is Dowsing Dagger a good enough reason to play River Sneak/Daring Sab over Aether Swooper when you could play Inventor's Goggles over Dagger? Maybe even swap out an offensive Aura with a 3rd equipment and go on the Bastion Inventor plan? I love Sram and might bother entering am FNM if I could throw another Sram deck together for Standard and feel good about it.
Also aether meltdown seems pretty good with aether swooper. Could run it as a bit more of a control build, and just rely on your card advantage to make creatures useless against you.
If Dowsing Dagger is good, then running that tutor pirate must also be good ... just need a good outlet for all that mana though ... adding green to the deck might just give that, as well as more ramp options and more hexproof, drop unblockably for more evasion and i think we got a brew going... ;)
Shawn Diaz Dowsing Dagger's mana capability is really important so those are key cards. They're 50% of the deck's cost, so Dev clearly thinks they're vital. Bastion inventor is an interesting sideboard option. Hexproof could be pretty tough for some decks to deal with and a 4/4 body would be pretty buff. This deck wouldn't have an awesome time against red, for instance, and 3x Bastion Inventor could be a great addition even with only a few artifacts in the deck.
Rather like this idea, but wonder if (with just a tad more budget, say $25) you could build 'sort of' this but in G/U and along with hexproof creatures (and use evasion rather than unblockable). Maybe there might even be a case for a competitive G/U/W deck with this style? (budget mostly going to the landbase more then likely). Just in case you need some brewing directions ^^

It wouldn't be any good against exiling effects or control magic effects. The Scry is nice, but there's a lot of exile and control magic on the meta right now.
David Kadonsky true but I'm looking at alternatives not everyone's meta is the same so if for some reason no one is playing an exile effect then a one mana protection and scary spell is handy. Sure it's no god's blessing or whatever the theros card was which is technically better since its protection not indestro bit they have shifted away from straight protection.

Rogue Refiner is probably really great in the deck. Provides energy, digs for Pummeler, soaks up damage and might even dish out 3 damage. It seems hard to pass that up. Blue also offers countermagic out of the SB. You've been playing it - how often does your Larger Than Life get countered? Must be super frustrating.
I'm surprised no Ornithoptor. Free creature that starts flying and can be dropped with Prying or Solidarity for early swings. Just seems to give that nice early burst.
I think Siren Stormtamer might be a better fit if you're looking for a cheap flier. Ornithopter's 0 power is a real problem, because it doesn't do anything on its own. A 1 mana investment in Siren Stormtamer is probably worth it for the extra utility it provides.
I see the argument, I just like the idea of 2 power of creatures turn one (with one out of spray/shock range) or starting ramp turn 2. Can even survive HoD after Diving with a Cartouche on. Just seems mildly silly to me.
I like Dev as a presenter, his cats, personality, creativity etc. Unfortunately, I bought this deck just to try it out (with a bunch of other cards, just trying to edge back into standard), and quickly realized how bad this deck is. Even if someone was to play a vanilla 1/1 on turn one, 2/2 turn two, 3/3 turn three, etc, this would most likely lose easily. I feel like his personality convinced me to try this and I didn't take the time to evaluate it haha. It has all sorts of problems. Anyway as a result I've decided to quit magic again. Merry Christmas to all!
MIB205 This is a deck tech, it's supposed to have a certain amount of synergy as is. The point of having videos like this is to have a somewhat playable deck - otherwise he's just wasting all of our time with wild claims and no results. You're the fool, fool! And your mom's mom is a fool.
Saving grace would save all planeswalkers and permanents except for 1 creature from damage based sweepers such as hour of devastation or am i understanding it wrong?
I can play this at the lunch table and I won't have to worry about getting the cards messy from food because I can just spend my lunch money on the deck.

Have you thought about going Bant and throwing in a playset of Jade Guardian? Green would open up green cartouche and blossoming defense as well.
meatrace Mana base is shaky as is. UG land is $12 right now. :(
TCG player has it more like 10, but yeah it would be less of a budget deck, but it's not like 3 colors is all that bad.

Unfortunately, I bought this deck just to try it out (with a bunch of other cards, just trying to edge back into standard), and quickly realized how bad this deck is.
Even if someone was to play a vanilla 1/1 on turn one, 2/2 turn two, 3/3 turn three, etc, this would most likely lose easily.
I feel like his personality convinced me to try this and I didn't take the time to evaluate it haha.
It has all sorts of problems.
Anyway as a result I've decided to quit magic again.

MIB205 This is a deck tech, it's supposed to have a certain amount of synergy as is. The point of having videos like this is to have a somewhat playable deck - otherwise he's just wasting all of our time with wild claims and no results.

Saving grace would save all planeswalkers and permanents except for 1 creature from damage based sweepers such as hour of devastation or am i understanding it wrong?

Would you consider Adanto Vanguard in this deck? Paying 4 life to prevent a 2 for 1 seems reasonable
The lack of evasion makes them chumpable, but their durability absolutely makes it a consideration!
I abuse conviction in magic duels with sigil of the empty throne, sram, and call of unity
I can play this at the lunch table and I won't have to worry about getting the cards messy from food because I can just spend my lunch money on the deck.
