    basic mod 1: replace the entire cooling system

      Yeah but e36 are fuckers when it comes to bleeding them

    • @TwInKiEmAn99

      in the process of that rn

      @SlightlyM3ntal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It's really not hard to bleed them at all if you jack the front of the car up. Only time it's a pain is when your high point isn't the bleeder.

    • @BmwMe-uh9sy
      @BmwMe-uh9sy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      done it already, water pump n thermostat. before you peeps start ripping it i would replace that first. aux fan was real pain to get off tho

      switch to a euro coolant overflow, much much better haha. also electric fans are a must! Ive killed 3 clutch fans...

    E36 suspension.
    - When it gets time to replace the track control arms, fit the E30 ones which have solid mounting of the ball joints.
    - M3 offset front bushes give more caster and great steering feel. Don't go for PU as they are rubbish and the BMW ones are excellent and quite cheap. (On the E46, use the Z4M bushes. £48 for the pair in the UK.)
    - At the rear, older E36 often have worn rear trailing arm bushes (RTAB). Just new standard ones will improve things but again there is an M3 version from the dealer that fits.
    - One of the rear bushes at the outer end of one of the arms (can't remember which one: see RealOEM) can be replaced by the M3 balljoint.
    - Not for drift stuff but generally increasing the front spring rate and keeping thing slightly nose-high (as for any rear-drive car with front struts) makes it more chuckable and the greater relative compliance at the rear gives good traction.

      probably the safest thing about this car.... thats why we all love it

    • @SiggsGBR
      @SiggsGBR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I never got this. It's only a deathtrap if you're jacking in poor conditions, like unlevel surface, without putting chocks on the wheels etc. If you take basic precautions they're fine. I still use mine when I'm doing small jobs like swapping wheels.

    • @benzintrinker5821

      me too just some wood under the car so my head doesnt get smashed when the jack fails

    • @SiggsGBR

      I'd never actually get under it on one of these jacks. But I also use it to raise the car enough to get my bigass trolleyjack under lol

    I hope you guys aligned it after the camber adjustment, also I suggest you purchase a basic set of toe plates so you can do driveway alignments, plus toe plates will work well with your pit style garage, you can typically get these for $40, Google them and also how to use them on TH-cam.
    Lastly, that squealing in the front end when you were demonstrating the steering sweep could be a soon-to-be failing balljoint at worst, or just a noisy strut mount.

    • @NatanaelAlexandru
      @NatanaelAlexandru 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What do you mean with BMW clutches engage on the top? Unless its REALLY worn out it should engage on the very bottom. Mine engages as soon as I barely release my foot.
    Also how on earth you managed to get those stickers on the dash? My dash is facelift dash and it has some relief and nothing sticks for long.

    The 323i wasn’t called the 325i (even tho it has the 2.5 liter engine) because BMW made the 328i as the top trim level. They felt that customers wouldn’t perceive the 325 and 328 as that different, so they named it the 323 instead to make it obvious as the mid level in between 318 and 328.
    They do the same thing today with the 320, 330, and 340. The number doesn’t have anything to do with engine liters anymore but everything to do with trim level.

Plus, since you have a donor car it'll be a lot easier since you'll have all the small parts needed. Also, don't worry if people try to talk you out of it. It'll always be worth it in the end, best wishes with the swap man. +Christian BMX 73

    Hey Austin so I have a few question I want to do that camber mod to my e36 are the washers just M12?

    • @austinferguson5504
      @austinferguson5504  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, they're just simple M12 washers. You can find them pretty much anywhere that sells hardware.

    same car I have. would love to see more of the mods on it. and the 323is is a 2.5l with just restrictions. not a lot but a few just for economic purposes. the 328i is a 2.8l so its closer to a 325i than anything else. I sold my 325i sedan and the 20 or so hp difference is hard to tell based on the reduced wait of the coupe. 323is can also be converted to a 325i but would not be worth the trouble if your just looking for a few fun skids nothing big leagues. so everyone who thinks these cars are noticeably weaker than 2.5s are wrong. theres no replacement for displacement. and its the same.
