Dalma is a single pot meal, since it has many healthy, native vegetables cooked in lentils with few spices along with the fresh of grated coconut, which gives a wonderful creamy texture to dalma and a traditional seasoning whih gives the dalma an authentic taste.

Servings: 6
Ingredients:
1/2 cup toor dal
6 cups water
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 cups vegetables (diced 2 brinjals, elephant foot yam, 2 to 3 pointed gourds, 1 radish, pumpkin)
1 tbsp crushed ginger
1 tsp salt
1/2 grated fresh coconut
1 tsp roasted cumin seed
For seasoning:
1/2 tsp nigella seed/ kalonji
1/2 tsp fennel seed
1/2 tsp mustard seed
1/2 tsp cumin seed
1/2 tsp fenugreek seed
2 tbsp ghee
3 bay leaves

How many times can an earthern pot be used for cooking
Jai Jagannath. Actually we should use 1 time only but everywhere mud pots are not available so we can use it for many times. And wash it with turmeric water. 🙏🌺
Mataji which salt is used Rock Salt or normal Salt

You have used radish, bay leaf, Fennell (green colour cumin), kalonji in your recipe. Out of curiosity, I'm asking. Are these things considered satvik bhojan in North India? Please don't take offense. Just curious.

What is panchporan?
Hare Krishna Panchforan are the five main Bengali tempering ingredients. 🙏🌺

Harey krushna mataji. Panch phoran or pancha phutana(in odiya) is combination of jeera, sarso, methi, saunf and kalonji(or asish ke bij)
1)Mustard/Rai/aavalu/sarson/saasve, kadugu
2) Ajwain/carom/vamu/oma
3)kalonji/onion seeds
4)Methi/Fenugreek/Menthulu/menthya/vendayam
5) Jeera/cumin/Jelakarra/Jeeragam/Jeerige
6)Saunf/Fennel/soumb/soump.
Depending on season/weather,
Mustard & Carom are altered means one of them will b skipped. 5(paanch)spices used in poran/tadka so it's named as PANCH PORAN👍🏼.
Above items are mixed in different ratios & kept, 1tsp of that above mix spices put in hot oil crackled before or after the curry/dish preperation.
Mostly used for seasoning/tadka/tarka/popu/thiragamaata/vuggarane/poran gives nice aroma & good for health🙏🏻
