Getting the opportunity to redeem herself and perform at the Kennedy Center Awards and do herself and all in attendance proud was the turning point in her career. Forgot to say...we were going to a northern soul night in morecambe when I'd never heard of you, the taxi driver was playing your album, we heard it and asked who it was as sounded amazing....you of course. The taxi driver said he would drop a cd off the next morn, by the next morn we had forgotten as very hung over, the doorbell rings and there was the taxi driver with 2 albums of yours..one for me and my man and one for my mum. God!! 2021 and Beth is still not mainstream!!!!! The world is a gone case!!!
Oh I can relate, the very same thing happened to me and my brothers, I was 6, and my daddy was my hero! He always gave me his time no matter how long he worked or how tired he was. He was always there to tuck me in.... until he just wasn’t. He was a DEA agent, my mom was a Botany professor, but she put her career on hold to raise us- they were both 32 years old/ the same age, and happy. But the 18 year old secretary for the office he worked out of had the hots for my dad. My dad was very handsome and charming but he tried at first to not get involved. This woman was on a mission! She was young and beautiful, and she eventually wore his sorry ass down, but he confessed to my mother and started counseling- it made no difference she got what she wanted! Why, she went as far as threatening to commit suicide if he stayed with my mom. So he left us and moved five hours away and we rarely saw him. I missed him beyond words and it hurt!! I grew close again to him in his later years, and my children got to know him he was an excellent grandpa! But my stepmother was a piece of work- she had my dad buried in my mom’s hometown, where she lived, in the local cemetery a block from my mothers house!!! My stepmom still lives five hours away with her new boyfriend! Like she brought him back to my mom, now that she was done with him! It was bizarre!
I was that scared and depressed little 4 year old girl when my father left home and me begging and crying for him to stay I thought my parents divorced and he left because of me and my mother telling me it wasn't my fault but I believed it was yes they got back together and we went back to live with him and they remarried b4 he passed away in 96 from cancer but it still lives in my heart and memories this song was like she had stepped in my head and seen the picture of what went on and understood me thank you for that
