2:06/2:15......Lol! Not only does "Jerry" need to relax, he needs to get himself a switchblade that springs open all the way!
These movies are the reason why the stupid laws against switchblades were passed.
+lorderik237 Many parents saw 'The Blackboard Jungle' and were horrified.
They are very intimidating looking and sounding. In the right hands switchblades can be extremely intimidating.
Yes
Won’t somebody think of the children!
Rebel Without A Cause Has The Best Switchblade Scene.
These people are cool for owning switchblades
Jerry needs to chill
he needs to oil his blade
Jerry needs to keep the knife in his pants
Jerry was not having a knife time
Very nice work on all of your compilations! A few more oldies you may enjoy are Juvenile Jungle, Teenage Doll, City Across the River, and a wonderful Alfred Hitchcock Presents story "Memo From Purgatory" (nice close-ups of a 13-inch picklock) Also Harlan Ellison's books- Memos from Purgatory, Web of the City and The Deadly Streets all feature switchblades prominently. Ellison joined a NYC street gang in 1954 as part of his research! Cheers and thanks for these!!!
0:59 a lever lock shell puller, truly a classic
Jerry just couldn’t keep it in his pants
At :07 Peter Lorre has a Henckel's leverlock. Earlier in the movie he is window shopping at a Henckel's knife shop. Product placement!
@flyleader Thanks for your comment but I disagreee. Senators in the 50's saw these movies as an easy way to gain publicity. Making the knives in these movies seem like tools of criminals gave them one more thing to blame society's problems on and make the "sheeple" think they were actually doing something about them. When it comes down to it I don't blame the films and the filmmakers, I blame the government and the idiot masses that actually listened to what they had to say on the matter.
Lol switchblades are like the AR-15’s of the knife world
😑🙄 dumbass
Not even close
Apple Juice Arsenal you get caught with one where I’m from and you go to jail or get a 1000 dollar fine or both just for carrying it or having it in your car or having someone in your car with one. You can have them at home though. But not in public. From California
switchblades became illegal because of this :(
Not in my state
@@evanhoback9338 Neither in mine! We had a cool Governor
In movies they are never portrayed as the tools they are. In real life they were seldom used as weapons because most of them didn't have a very strong lock mechanism. Even know most people that want to stab someone use a fixed blade knife.
@Duckie Alexander they were originally thrusting weapons, the folding was literally a novelty in italy, the modern stiletto started life as nothing more than a joke
Agreed, but Microtechs and Spydercos aren’t half bad 🥰
@@davidlocke1668 CRKT as well, amongst others. My dad personally prefers either a Buck or a Gerber.
@FargoMarc Wow, great suggestions and info, thanks! If I can get a long enough list of early films with switchblades that I haven't already covered I'll put together another compilation.
Nice mashup!
0:09 Thyrion Lannister
King Creole! Memories...
Rebel without a cause
You forgot "The Beast with Five Fingers" (1946). Peter Lorre pulls out a swing guard near the end of the movie at 105m 46s.
@strataxeCB haha, I know what you mean. It's all part of the theatrics, but they are all automatic I guarantee you. The vast majority have been identified by collectors as very specific vintage automatic knives. The fourth one looks like it might be manual because it opens very slowly. The same knife is in the very next scene, which clearly shows it opening automatically. Although it's thought to possibly be a prop knife.
@strataxeCB You're welcome, thanks for watching my vid!
The I'm Cuttin & Killin line cracked me up
What’s it from?
Jerry is a menace.
Jerry also needs a new switchblade. That peice of junk of his failed to fully spring open not once but twice! Or at least give it some lube.
I use an Italian Stiletto as a Fidget Spinner.
Me too!
@ALIASarts The next installment will probably be 1960-1979, then 80-89, 90-99, and then 2000-2010. If I did them all in one vid it would be over 30 minutes long.
I love Italian switchblade knives!
@oAROWANAo you're absolutely right! But taking such an easy route does nothing to solve the problem, never has, and never will, only hurts law-abiding citizens who may want to collect these things!
Christ all mighty Jerry, don't loose your fucking shit
Thinking the same thing! Lol
@strataxeCB Incorrect, they are all switchblades. If you'd like to point out which ones you think aren't switchblades I'd be glad to tell you how and why you are wrong.
Movie title list with links in the description.
"I sure know whatto do..." "not that you fool" 😂😂😂
@sicboy13 Thanks!
What is knife at 0:01?
You forgot North by Northwest. The scene where the ambassador is assassinated.
@Thumperanddumper I couldn't find a switchblade in The Wild One. At what point in the movie does a switchblade appear?
wouldnt the light sabre be a switchblade of sorts?
Cock poop
what movie is at 1:20
Rebel without a cause
@karateslaginnek Blackboard Jungle
3:43
1:10 Rob Dyrdek 😎
How did they get switchblades in the Old West? Were there some US-based makers at that time or did Italian immigrants bring them over from their home country and began making and selling them in America? I honestly had no idea automatic knives went that far back, I thought they were generally a modern invention.
....
You do realize that Westerns are not documentaries, yes? They are fictional movies, most Westerns were shot in Italy, hence why they are called "Spaghetti Westerns".
@@VinEllis No, most westerns were not shot in Italy, they were filmed in the US. The term Spaghetti Western is a subgenre of movies, the term originated in 1964 from the films directed by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood. Leone's movies were filmed in Italy and Spain.
dude cant wait till the 60's and up becauses yiou can do the outsiders and the warriors and stand by me
that videos going to be great
12 Angry men, Stalag 17, Rebel without a cause, is there a list or can I just not see it on my mobile? There was one from the 50s called "tough ones" i think im not sure about a lawyer who has to defend 3 kids who stabbed a young blind puerto rican kid to death. They all had GORGEOUS 13" Italian automatic stilettos, they showed close ups of one guy holding it behind his back, it just about went up to his skull! The funny thing was the P.R. blind kid had one too!
Mr Ivan I think the movie you call the tough ones is actually called "The Young Savages" it can be found free on TH-cam. Great movie.
