Rob is really underselling what he and Brian Enos has done for the shooting sports.

I watched another short video of this guy and I could tell he was someone that has put an uncountable amount of time thinking on and analyzing pistol shooting. a true student and master of what he does.

I remember seeing a video back in the 80s of Rob shooting a 5 steel plate array at a match; I believe it was a Bianchi Cup event. His speed was incredible. The video also showed it it slow motion, which was STILL faster than I could have shot it successfully. Amazing.

One day Rob Leatham gave a pro tip on TH-cam, which is the one and only tip I give now, when someone ask me for advice. That and of course they should look up Rob Leatham and a few more veteran shooters.

I remember back in the '80s reading gun mags and so many featured Rob in hi shooting gear, head down, smoke coming out of the comp. Also remember receiving some of the first "Wilson Combat" catalogs and looking at those guns and the 47D mags lol! fun stuff!

One of my shooting heros. Thanks for all you've done for the sport Rob! I still remember watching you and Barnhart and the Jet and all the best at the Steel Challenge in Fresno one year. Best times of my life I have to say. That drove me to excellence and the next year I won the Canadian Speed Shooting Championships. Great example in a great sport.

Rob IS the real deal. In the early 80's I used to Travel to Tucson to shoot a higher caliber match than I had at the Tombstone range. I shot a colt mkvi accurized by Frank Pachmayr for bullseye shooting. Most of the better shooters wouldn't help you, they were afraid you might beat them. Rob wasn't that way. He put me on to Bill Wilson, and I had a comped 45 made. The 38 super hadn't grown up at that time. He always had time. I used to like watching him with the kids that were there with their parents, and had little to do, except police brass. He was always great with up and coming shooters. By the mid 80's I was the match director for the Cochise Gun Club. Once or twice a year I would have a 2 day shoot. Rob and his friends would always come down to shoot. Of course the Tombstone culture had a lot to do with it. I have always been enamored with his shooting ability, and I agree with Mr Hackathorn that Rob is the best pistoleer ever. The Army reassigned me for 2 years, no guns. Then sent me to Ft Drum NY, no guns, and by the time I returned to AZ, I had lost much of my enthusiasm for the out takes of combat shooting. Thanks Rob for all the help and encouragement you gave me over the years.

Excellent interview. I had an opportunity to shoot with rob and many of the other guys in the 1980's. I was never competitive at their level but Rob has always been humble and passionate about the sport and willing to spend time helping others. I learned a lot from Rob and others. He built my first 1911 when he ran the custom shop at Springfield armory. Great guy and a friend to all shooters. Thanks!

As one who has actually been in ACTUAL combat situations, I don't even consider myself a badass. I've seen a LOT of so called "badasses" on the target range who wet themselves when the SHTF.

At 22:00 min. or so, Rob Says, … question that. He is so correct too. Einstein said, " Live like you are going to die tomorrow, learn like you are going to live forever, and never stop questioning." I had the privilege of shooting against guys like Rob, Brian, and Jerry Miculek, when I started in 1984. These guys taught me so much that propelled me in my shooting skills, that it carried me to the top of the games in less than a year in competition...but I was that gamesman like Rob. If I lost a match and didn't place 1st, I couldn't sleep for trying to figure out what to change or fix, so I could win the next time...and I did. Still have the trophies to prove it. Well done Rob! … My first full on race gun was a Colt Combat Elite, built up by Bill Wilson, and I won everything and everywhere I went. Also well done Bill ! As I got older and the excitement waned for pistol shooting, I traded that pistol for a horse, and rode him for over 800 miles.

Good lord this man hit the nail on the head. I could listen to him talk for hours on the subject. He hit the nail on the head. You tubers telling me how smooth a slide is or how nice a trigger is doesn't do jack shit for me. I went buy a lower end 1911 and I plan to shoot thousands of rounds to see what I like and don't like. Then I'll upgrade. I don't need any fancy features or a $2000 pistol to start off with. I need ammo and practice.

Rob had favorable physical attributes, intellect and discipline to advance his skills in the game that became his passion. That’s usually what you find in any sport when you start to examine those who are long time champions. I started shooting IPSC at about the same time as Rob. I remember those early days. I however didn’t stick with it. I shot my first IPSC match with an unmodified surplus US Army Remington Rand 1911A1 that I bought for 200 bucks.

Rob Leatham is extremely competitive. Because of this, NEVER - EVER let Mr. Leatham load magazines for you during a competition. He'll load rounds backwards just to mess up your time/scores. Also, when going out to play paintball, he aims for the crotch - ALWAYS!
He's also a pretty good shot.
