I hear a lot about better help. I might try it. Even people who arent depressed or who dont even realize they are depressed, I think it would be helpful for everybody. I joined some anxiety group, and it's so nice I get to meet and listen to new people, and there also some cool females there I'm going to marry (one even has 40+ animals) Anyways, I'm just saying, even if your mental health is good, this stuff cant hurt and can only halp.
@PabloS hey pablo. One of my best advices for high school is to dont worry about being "cool". Theres so much drama, and most of those people dont do anything than trying to be "cool" instead of anything interesting. Then I got depressed and started hanging out alone or in the library at lunch, and then I met so many nice people, who were so talented, smart, funny, intelligent, and were considered "uncool", and they actually ended up being the *coolest* people I ever met. I'm just trying to say, be you, and dont worry about social drama crap. "Bullies" or douchebags also have their own insecurity issues, so they try to make other people feel insecure. OKAY IM RAMBLING Just enjoy high school. Meet new people. Enjoy learning new subjects. High school is a difficult time for lots of people, but when it's done, people are a lot nicer and changed. (I think our animal instincts try to make everybody the alpha Male and its dumb...) IM RAMBLING... OKAY BYE.
I love that you’re talking about jobs that work with animals that aren’t just a vet! I could never be a vet because I couldn’t put an animal down but I want to train service dogs!
You’re part of the reason I’m currently studying to become a vet nurse. You helped me realise and unleash my love and passion for animals, em. Thank you.
I know I want to go into a field with animals, but I’ve been SO stuck on what kind of career specifically I want to go into. Thanks for the advice! It made me feel a little less worried about the future!
Hi, My name is Tobias and I really want to work with animals, more specifically with reptiles. You have been one of many inspirations that has well.. inspired me to want to do that. The only problem is that I come from very far north in Norway, where we have only one species of reptile and keeping reptiles as pets just became legal and my parents hate them. I plan on moving out of the country or at least further south in Norway when I get the chance to pursue that kind of career. I just wanted to say that for no specific reason :)
I’ve had my bearded dragon for about two years and at first my mom really really didn’t like him. She now is talking about getting her own since she’s fallen in love with mine!
I was a stay at home mom for 9 years and my dream was to work with animals. I applied to the best local pet store in my town, I also live in a small farm town, I made my resume and that helped me stand out. I got my dream job and have been there for 4 months now and look forward to work every single day, I am so excited to go to work everyday
Catherine Howell Congratulations on landing your dream job!!! It’s SO hard to do ANYTHING when you’re a busy mother, so extra congratulations and well done!!
It’s so awesome to work with animals. I used to rehab wild animals but it wasn’t a job. It was all volunteer work. I’ve been a massage therapist for 25 yrs and there’s opportunities for therapist to work with different animals. Actually there is massage training for different animals.
Ve Vee That’s incredible!!! Funnily enough I worked as a club masseuse (it sounds shady, but it wasn’t!!) and it made me think about pet hydrotherapy and physio.
Emzotic I used to be in charge of the this health clubs massage therapy departments that was in Florida. They had 6 clubs. The name was Massotherapy department which makes it sound more professional. There’s just a few therapist that give us a bad reputation sadly. They crack down in those type of businesses here in Florida. Anyway hydrotherapy is a wonderful way in rehabilitation. Also pressure point and energy work is wonderful in helping animals to relax and heal. There was one rescue I couldn’t work on. They were meaner than snakes. That was these 2 baby foxes that had just opened their eyes. They was covered in tar from road work. Their mother was killed. They reminded me of the Steven King movie The Langoliers because they were just lil balls of fur tar and Teeth lol. It’s amazing to discover different animals and their personalities. Working with animals are so rewarding. The only animals I take in is baby squirrels cause I have very limited space. Where as I used to live in the country and I had a raccoon and a possum was wasn’t eligible for release along with a few others and I would take them to different schools for wildlife education. The possum thought he was a cat and was so sweet. He was even friendlier and loved to be held and he also used the litter box and the raccoon was also very friendly and used the potty. They loved being massaged People really underestimate these creatures. BTW I don’t want people to think that these make good pets and try to get one for a pet
Emzotic acupuncture also provides wonderful results in animals too. It really a rewarding experience working with animals. I really enjoy watching your videos The animals are very fortunate to have you both
I have been waiting for this video for sooo long I’m very passionate about animals and I always had doubts to me finding a job everyone said I couldn’t but now I am sure of following my passion❤️❤️❤️ Thanks Em
I'm in a position of searching for jobs/volunteer opportunities to work with animals and this video was INCREDIBLY helpful! I'm on the path to getting a driver's license Your checklist was such an interesting exercise and I think everyone should use it for any career they have in mind. This gave me much hope for my future and I'm so happy you were willing to share this with us! ❤️❤️
This was sooo helpful! Thank you! I've wanted to work with animals since I was about 4. For many years I've been working on going into a animal career. I'm currently a volunteer at a animal shelter. I've always wanted to hear other people's experience, and tips. ❤
Thank you so much Em. Lately Ive felt lost and I’m stuck on a boat with no wind in my sails but this video has given me something to think about. It’s also reassured me that to have as much success suchlike someone like yourself, doesn’t mean that I need to study at university. Thank you! ❤️
This video speaks to me so much! I'm in college right now and I have no idea what I'm going to do once I get out because I've always loved animals but I took up an English degree thinking I would go for teaching. Now I'm a senior and regret everything wishing I went for something more aimed towards animals :( your such an inspiration thanks for such great advice!
Hi, Em! I've watched your channel for forever, and, like a lot of others, you're definitely an inspiration for me! I currently go to school for animal related sciences and I really love it. I actually just started my training to eventually work with raptors today and I'm soooo excited about the future. The program actually gives you the option to work with rehabilitation and/or educational outreach, so handling and taking the educational ambassadors out like you do. Anyways, I really wanted to thank you for making these videos because it really does open up another world for people who want to work with animals. Working with animals definitely doesn't just stop at veterinary work and a lot of people don't necessarily know about it. To everyone else, what Em says really does matter! One of the most important things to prep yourself for a future with animal related jobs is experience. In college do everything you can to get experience whether its internships or volunteer work or helping other students/professors with their research. The main way to learn about these opportunities is to join clubs, talk to your advisers and professors, and make friends! When you hand in a resume, animal professionals will look for things you've done related to the job you're applying for, not just your GPA. And, another thing that a lot of people are worried about when considering getting a job in animal related fields is, of course, the pay. And, to be honest, a lot of positions are entirely volunteer based or not too well paying, but, don't get discouraged because it's definitely possible to make a living! Some people do other things on the side, like make and sell jewelry to make extra, too. There's a lot of options! Opportunities are everywhere. :)
This has been a dream of mine forever so thank u for making my dreams become more realistic because a lot of people tell me I won’t get anywhere with animals but I believe I will so thank u for giving me more ideas ilysm💖💞
You probably won’t see this, but about a year ago I discovered your videos while browsing with my girlfriend, and we immediately subscribed. At the time I was a jaded twenty-something, with a degree in art, in a job I’m not passionate about just because it pays my loans. I felt like working with animals, which has always been as aspiration of mine, was a pipe dream. Until I started watching you! Inspired, I looked for any connections I could, and that led me to a raptor (birds of prey, for any younger followers out there) rehabilitation center. I have now been volunteering there for a few months and am constantly helping and learning about some of nature’s most amazing animals. Hands on! It is giving me drive and even though I don’t get paid, I know it will pave my way to a career in wild animal conservation. So thank you so much. Your positive influence reaches farther than you know! This entire shift in my life began with that one video I stumbled across.
Thanks for the great tips em❤️ right now i am still in highschool and after next summer i’ll be starting college, right now i am a volunteer in a zoo and i’ve had several compliments, they often tell me how happy they am with me, i really really hope to get into this zoo because i absolutely love the way we take care of the animals. Anyway, just wanted to share this. Love you em❤️
Oh my god this was so helpful! Ever since I was little I've wanted to be a veterinarian but now that I'm older I'm starting to realize that being a vet may not be what I want to do in life, but I still definitely want to work with animals! Thank you Em!
I actually have been inspired by many people, including you, to do your job! I love animals, and love learning facts about them! I want other people to learn about animals, and maybe if someone wants to own a certain, know I might be able to help! I really hope I can do what you do, Em. Thanks for the help and inspiration! Sincerely, A Fan ♡
Also the things I wrote down are, stubborn, creative, passionate, stability, purpose, fun, artist, architect, photography, and if anyone has an idea on what would be a great job for me please feel free to tell me!
I’m so glad you’ve made this video! I’m in high school and I’ve always thought I would work in a more science job. Recently though, I started volunteering in the animal department of my local science center and have started rethinking things. This video was so helpful and gave me lots to consider. Love the channel and your work
Audrey Leong Never ignore what your gut tells you :) it won’t steer you wrong!! Great job managing to balance your studies with work experience and jobs :) You’re a powerhouse!
I've been contemplating my pursuit of a career with animals and I've gone through three of your videos and feel a bit more confident in my current path so thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! For years I've been stuck on what I wanted to do. I've always loved animals, and as per usual, everyone immediately jumps to, "OMG YOU SHOULD TOTALLY BE A VET." I dropped that idea once I was told by two vets that the job would have put me in so much debt that I would have had no hope of getting out if I ever changed my mind. Seeing as I barely passed Algebra II, I don't think that would have worked out for me. So, I was really....lost, for a long time. I told myself I'd be a nurse (yeah, doesn't make sense) to pay for a zoology degree and then figure it out later, but I realized I'm not really fond of the idea of constantly seeing strangers naked and being (understandably) snapped at by people who are in pain. At that point, I was really scared. I struggle with depression and social anxiety, and I'm a closeted LGBT+ individual amidst extremely conservative Christians, so the thought of having to stay at home for getting my zoology degree and having to miss out on more of my life was terrifying. But then, I discovered Pettube, and you. And about that same time, I discovered pet sitting and Rover. I watched your Draw my Life video, and suddenly a light bulb clicked. I signed up for Rover and now I work full-time watching furry toddlers who I refer to as my surrogate children - from a Great Pyrenes named Quentin who I swear was Naga from Avatar in a past life, to a blue and gold macaw name Sunny whose screams I now hear in my sleep, to a Cane Corso with fear regression with has bonded with me to the point that he must be touching me at all times or he's not happy, to a Mastiff name Annabelle with separation anxiety who looks for me whenever I leave, and dozens more. I'm also currently attempting to get certified as a dog trainer, and I hope to specialize in behavior modification, especially fear aggression (any tips you can give me would very, very much appreciated). It's proving to be a very confusing, complicated process, but I'm persisting and I have a friend who has said she will help me get certified and even give me a job working for her company if I so wish! I'm now pursuing two extremely fulfilling jobs where my hours are up to myself, with the hopes of also starting up youtube once I can move out. I'm also going to be going to community college for a couple years - then, if I can make my dreams come true, I'll be pursuing a bachelors in zoology with an emphasis in ethology. I'm still unsure about a lot of things and I still have a lot of bad days. I long for a house of my own but I also long to see the world and I don't know how to reconcile the two cost wise. I deal with the fear of eventual rejection from all of the friends and family I've grown up with. Some days, I'm so hard on myself and I really, truly, hate myself. But I live for the mornings where I'm house sitting, and my sweet mini polar bear Quentin wakes me up with his cuddles. This whole comment is probably a giant mess, but I wanted to say thank you. You are one of the people whose videos I watch when I need hope, inspiration, or a drive to achieve.
Andrea Locklin Your comment just filled my eyes with tears. I’m so sorry that you’re feeling a little trapped and stifled. You’re definitely proactive though and I’m so happy you’ve found enjoyment with Rover ❤️ I know you’ll do great things for yourself and for animals. Listen your your heart and gut and do not be afraid of pursuing the right career. It can be daunting, but it’s worth the struggle and fight to carve yourself a life you love than to allow yourself to get sucked into a joyless job. You’ve got this xxx
Andrea Locklin you kinda sound like me! I pet sit currently on rover and work part time at a vaccine clinic. My dream is to work with wild/ exotic animals tho not just dogs and cats:/
This video is exactly what I need. Because of you, I realize that my true passion is with animals and I can't imagine working with anything else. I want to be an animal educator and/or caregiver. My ultimate goal is to own an animal sanctuary. Thank you for everything Em ;D you are a big inspiration to me.
Your posts and videos have been helping me so much lately!! I've really been struggling with finding a career and being a mom at the same time. This really helped! And your eyeshadow is fantastic!
Cisco52 Thank you! Just remember that being a mother doesn’t limit you to only doing a few different things. You CAN have a career you love and pay the bills :) xx
I clicked on this video after starting to contemplate going back to school to be a vet tech, but the writing exercise was SO unexpectedly incredibly helpful for life clarity haha. Also, I have actually been interested in guide dog training for a long time seeing as it would use my psych degree as well but all the info I've found is vague. You just gave me the motivation to try volunteering and see what info I can get from there! I've been so focused on finding jobs i kept discounting volunteer opportunities. I just have to find time to make it work.
And here we find both career paths I'm interesti ng in in one comment chain lol. I'm not even in college yet, but I know I want to either act or work with animals(at an animal shelter or rehabilitation center like the autobot society)
hahayourfunny94 How did you get into acting/stage managing if you don’t mind me asking? It’s a field I’m interested in as well, and I love hearing about how people get into “odd” jobs where there isn’t quite a clear path :)
This was EXTREMELY helpful! This coming summer I plan to volunteer at our local zoo as a "Junior Zookeeper". They treat this much like a job. You fill out an application, then have an interview. This video really helped me understand what I can do to be a few steps ahead of other people in this highly competitive industry.
Thank you for making this video! I recently changed my major to Biology to hopefully push me in the direction of a job with animals or environmental conservation and I think your advice is very helpful. While in school I will do my best to push myself to make connections, volunteer and just get as much information as I can. You're awesome and thank you, Em!
This video helped me so much. I always knew animals were my passion, but I'm a sophomore in high school and I need to start looking for jobs. I have looked at a lot of animal jobs, but lately I've been stumped. But I've looked into puppy raising for Guide Dogs for the Blind and you mentioned becoming a trainer their and I realized that was what I wanted to do. Dogs have always clicked with me and this job seems perfect. I wanted to own a lot of animals (not a crazy amount but out of the normal amount of pets for regular families) and I thought the only logical reason to own a lot of animals was for animal education and not just for owning a friend. but this video also made me realize that I can own a good amount of animals without having to be forced to do a job I didn't want to do. (Also just as a note, I do know that if you cant take care of the animal or I am suffering my future animals will be suffering to so me getting a good amount of animals will probably be dogs, cats, ferrets, sugar gliders, bunnies, mini horses, and dwarf goats. and it wont be like 20 of each species I promise)
Guide Dog Owner (GDO) here Puppy raisers are usually volunteers. If your not In the position to do that right now you could fundraise for the organisations/school to learn more about them and meet people. 🦮
You can never stress the point of talking to the people in the field you'd like to go into too much! I always thought I wanted to be in the veterinary industry in some way but then I spoke to a couple vets and worked for a practice for a little while and I never thought I would be so miserable in the job I always thought I wanted. Fast forward to now and I am about to finish my first qualification course in the field of conservation (and I plan to do quite a few more), I can honestly say that I have never been happier than I am right now in a field of work/study.
Since a year ago I always loved taking photo's of my dogs and they were always so beautiful in the pictures. As I wrote down my little list of 3's I noticed on how much of my things have to do with photography of animals and I can't wait to start pursuing the thing I love to do. I have much more of a clear vision about my future since I just started studying animal care last year, im now 17 yrs old and I have done an internship at a pet store and now I have a internship at a cat hotel/ wild animal shelter where they stay until they are released and I also do volunteer work here. Since I have been watching you I keep loving my interests more and more. Thank you Em. Love you!
i would love to be a veterinarian when im older! im 15, and i have 26 animals! 4 rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs and more! i know everything about them. they're all free roam and have their own rooms in the house haha!
You sound like me 😂😂😂🙌🏻🙌🏻 But I'm 18 and my mom never would've let me do that in a bajillion years 😂😂but luckily she has no say anymore mwahahah😂😂😂😂😈😂😂lmao
Emily Smith I have a lot of pets too!! I love them! I have 2 big dogs, 2 rabbits, and guinea pig and we have fish. I know you are supposed have more than one guinea pig she just will not get along with any other piggies. She gets A LOT of attention though. If she even heard a bag crinkle you can hear her from upstairs! I want to work with animals, not only because I love them but I also want to show others how to care for them and love them like I do. I get like the dogs if I see a dog walk past I am nuts! How can you not be? 😂
I have been trying for years to try and get into any kind of animal job I possibly can with the little amount of job history I have. Some people don't like this store but it is literally the only pet store around, PetSmart... I have been responding and responding to all their job offers online and gotten nowhere for months and months (almost 2 years actually). But after talking with a lovely lady at the job I'm currently at, she told me not to give up and that I would be such a great fit at any pet store so do anything to get their attention. Now, thanks to you as well Em, I'm going to definitely keep persevering and talk to them in person about how I can improve ways to get even just an interview. Instead of showing how I look on paper, show them how eager I am to be around pets and to work with them full time. so, thanks Em
Two of the best points Em brought up: Getting a driver's license. I'm struggling getting mine but it can really make the difference. I'm trying to get a job with my local Leader Dog for the Blind and that is the main thing preventing me from working there. Also, definitely volunteer if you have the time.
BlackIDove Goodluck with getting your license!!! It will totally be worth it!! And thanks for wanting to work in such a selfless and worthwhile job xxx
Animals have been a constant in my life and ive finally gotten the amazing opportunity to get a part time job at my local SPCA. ive already learned a lot more than i could ever imagine just from working there for about 3 weeks. what made them really want to hire me is my advertising and photography qualifications, not just my experience with animals. i changed my mind many many times on what career i want to work towards, i knew it would be with animals but i wasnt sure exactly what until i found your channel and realized i wanted to be an animal educator as well. i live in the middle of absolutely nowhere and its astounding how much education about animals and the natural world is needed in a lot of places.
I'd absolutely adore a job with animals but my parents really disprove of me doing it as they say it has long hours, bad pay and they always say its for people who aren't very smart. Its so annoying because i'm incredibly interested in zoology and learning about animals and their evolution, survival techniques and adaptations.
Do what you love my dad told me that before and as a result i went to college to be a nurse which I did not love at all he eventually realized my love of animals and helped me through dog grooming school and now i work at an animal hospital.
I know it’s hard, but you and your parents need to remember that they gave you life so that YOU could live it. Nobody ever lies on their deathbed wishing they made more money. People wish they did what they really wanted to do - you have the ability to live the life YOU want. Have courage xx
@@Emzotic thank you so much, it's hard to find the courage but you're right and if I don't follow what I truly love then I'll only regret it when the chance never comes again!
I don't understand at all how he could say that the field is for people who are "not very smart" considering zoology is a very science heavy degree! I have a friend who spends months at sea studying whales. It's a lot of data collection and processing and it takes a LOT of math and science. She's certainly one of the smartest people I know (and I also know a couple biomedical engineers) and it's a good thing she is because if she weren't she wouldn't be able to understand or do her job! There's also SUCH a range in pay rates depending on what you specialize in and the specific job you choose to go into with your degree. Don't let someone else's misguided view of a field prevent you from going into it. You have to live with the day to day of your job and what you do with your life- your parents don't. The joy they'll get from seeing you go into a field they would prefer won't be enough to outweigh the disappointment and wondering you'll be left with if you ditch your dreams to follow a career you aren't passionate about. Parents are also never, ever as pleased as they let on that they'll be when you finally make the accomplishment they've been pushing you toward. Be what you want to be and they'll realize in time that not only are you intelligent and that your field does require intelligence and expertise, but that you're happy and passionate about what you do. Surely they'll be happier in the long run that you're happy than they would be if you were miserable but in the career they wanted.
Thanks so much for this video. I'm only months away from becoming a biology teacher for high school students (11 till 16 y/o). But I found that I just do not have the greatest connection with this new generation of kids. I'm 25 by the way. My passion is educating people about life. I think I do have an advantage when it comes to jobs with animals. Just made a list of possible jobs and I'm quite happy what I saw. Thank you.
MrJr01 That’s so wonderful of you! Best of luck with your new job :) I loved my biology teacher. His classroom was full of beautiful curio and taxidermy.
Hi Em, I'm on my last year of high-school and I was having little break downs, because I knew I want to work with animals, but I didn't really know what to do or were to start. Your videos have helped me a lot, especially this one. After I've written down a couple of things... I'm starting to think that it'll work out somehow and I'm less afraid about the future - I just can't give up, I have to try every opportunity I will be given and if one way won't work out another might :D Thank you very much for your help, positive attitude and fun videos, I'll never stop watching them!
I would really love to one day open my home to be a wildlife rehabilitator. I am a stay at home mother right now and it might be a little difficult to start. How would you recommend that I get around to becoming one?
I would check with your state, in Michigan here we have DNR- I can call the department of natural resources and ask what I would need to be a rehabilitator, I know there are classes and such I believe you have to take. When I’m older I hope to be able to be a waterfowl rehabilitator.
Jodie Owen Hey Jodie! The first step would be seeing wether or not licensing and training are required for wildlife rehabber in your state or country. Other similar jobs could be raising Guide dog puppies in your home, fostering animals for rescues or even boarding animals for people in your home :). X
Thank you so much for making this video. I've been completely lost and been doing jobs that I hate so much that I don't want to wake up in the mornings. I really took everything you said to heart. Thanks a lot
Can I just say I came across your account at one point during 2018 summer and I just want to say you’re the person that really inspired me to want to work with exotic animals ( I’m aiming to be a wildlife vet ) and you just really sparked my interest with all these amazing animals. So thank you :)
I've struggling to get into vet school for some time now. I still have 3 subjects to pass to actually get it, and it's so hard it's getting frustrating and it's really messing with my self-esteem and my depression issues. But I did the exercise, and I'm so excited to be a vet someday that I just cant give up. I really needed the help and the push, Em, thanks. And as always, keep up the good work! We love you 💚
@@Emzotic Ive recently got a rescue bearded dragon and im in love! Theyre so awesome and ive been watching your videos on them. I have a appointment next wednesday at the college i am planning on doing vet tech with. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you Em. This video couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I've been attending Rutgers University majoring in animal science. Financial issues has caused me to temporarily stop studying and just work. Recently lost my job and now my mom and I are struggling to support ourselves and our animals. I've had no luck finding anything and have lately been feeling that going to college was a mistake because of all the student loans, feeling like I'm not getting enough guidance while also not being sure what it is I want to do with animals. I was thinking about grooming but felt I may end up too frustrated with problematic animals. I originally wanted to be a vet but I dont think I could ever forgive myself if I made a mistake and it cost a life (those school loans are terrifying too). With dog training you have to be very outspoken and whatnot to find clients but, I tend to find people very intimidating and worry I can't make the leap. I felt like my options were very limited. I may not know what I want to do yet but, you have given me hope that I will overcome this rough patch and find something. With tears in my eyes, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will work hard and be more persistent. ❤
I’m 14 and I volunteer at my local farm at their reptile house! It’s so fun and I’m so happy I’m doing it so early to prepare me for my later life! Love you Em xx
Em this video came at the perfect time today. One of my horses is dying from an undetermined infection and this is made my day. Keep doing your thing I love you and thank you.
Thanks for this video. This is my first year of high school and it's been extremely rough. Animals and horses are what are keeping me sane right now lol. Love you Em!! 💕❤️🐶🐎🐘🐅🦎🐕🐊🐍
Thank you for this! I’m currently doing animal care at collage and I’m wanting to move to Florida and do animal education and own a pet store! I want to one day own a zoo too!! You have been a huge inspiration, so thank you for everything!
Em thank you so much for your videos. Ive always have wanted to work with animals and never was truly interested in anything else, your videos have not only been enjoyable but they really motive and inspire me. I felt really lost before finding your channel and although im still figuring out so much you have definitely made me feel more confident in my future :)
This truly reaffirmed my belief that I'm heading in the right direction!! Thank you em for this fantastic video, hope all is well 💕 you're such an inspiration
I love you so much em! So happy for this video. I'm currently working towards my ged with a wonderful outreach program that's helping me set up with a college that offers many different animal courses and I feel so greatful! I constantly keep your advice in mind! I don't know 100% where i want to be but i know its with animals!
Emzotic You're so inspirational, honey, but I'm approaching retirement & anything that isn't already broken, is breaking! But if I'd had your guidance 30 years ago, I'd have followed it! Keep on leading --- I'm not surprised they're following!! Oh, & thanks for the bonus bunny! 😉 🐇
You've truly helped me a lot with this video. I have a few mental... issues. Recently I've been so hopeless in being able to do anything, let alone something I have a passion for and this inspired me. You also let me know that it's okay to talk to multiple people, to keep calling and to just ask. It may sound silly but that's been a fear. Not wanting to be a bother because I don't know what is and isn't okay to do in this area. I think I am going to go to the animal shelter and ask them if I can take some pictures of the animals there. Thank you! (Also I would love to hear your ZooKeeper talk)
I’m a paraprofessional for special needs students specifically in the program for students with autism and I created an agriculture program in our school starting at the end of last year or so about March we decided to get ducklings Muscovy ducklings to be exact and it has been a journey but an amazing one it’s amazing how the students take to the animals so quickly they love them so much and you can see it in their eyes and it’s just the most rewarding feeling knowing that you brought that into their life most students that don’t have pets at home, they still get to have the ability to interact with an animal thanks to this program. Not many people understand why just “having ducks” is such a big deal to me. Anywho, where there is a will, there’s a way! If you have an idea- go for it! You might just create an animal job for yourself 😂
YAYYYYY another video! I love dm and ive always wanted a job with animels so this is helpful thx for the vid also what ever happened to being a jacketpattato from the ferret cate video?
ever since I was little I was positive that I was going to be a vet. but once I binge watched your videos and realized that you could be an animal educator I am positive that im going to do that as soon as im old enough
Thank you so much Em for this video. I have always wanted to work with animals, but never actually new what i needed and what would be perfect for me. This video has been SO helpful. Thank you!
A thing we have on our school is that we need to like ask a business to get a look in what there job is and do some parts and that is a hole week and there is a nother week where we also get to do that and I am very excited for it because then I mabye finally know what I wanna do with animals and I am first going to a animal shop and then mabye a zoo
My absolute goal is to become an animal educator but I have severe anxiety and always worry I’ll never achieve it :( you’re amazing Em and your life sounds so great! 💕 love from the UK!
Watching this is 2022 and it was a huge help! You’re definitely creative and gifted in helping people. Thank you! I have so much food for thought after this.
This is so helpful. I really want to be an animal educator and I’ve already done 1 show Love your vids and your a an amazing inspirational person love youuuu -Imy-❤️❤️❤️❤️💖💖💖💖❤️😘😘😘😂😘😘🎉😘❤️❤️💖💖💖💖✨💖💖❤️❤️
Imy_ Bx The first show is always the hardest!! I was a nervous wreck with mine!!! 😆😆 Im so proud of your for your career choice! It’s so worthwhile and fulfilling x
Growing up I really wanted to be a vet!! I was volunteering at a animal husbandry market, I took care of horses at a horse trader, and for a while in my mid teens I lived above a vet where I was able to volenteer in different ways, from hanging out with puppies, to holding instruments during operations or even help keeping newborn puppies warm while mom was being sewn together again... the same building had a dog groomer where I was able to help too.. I even had a chance to intern a while as a zookeeper... But my grades were not good enough to start Vetschool, so I floundered for a while, and discovered I loved working with people too... then I got pregnant at 19, and the vet thing was really out!! But I tried looking at what I liked about working with people, and found that I liked being hands on and helping them feel good, so I thought ‘makeup artist’ - but that’s a course based job here, but HAIR stylist is something where you train WITH PAY for 4 years, and learn every aspect, even makeup and manicures, so I started training to be a hairstylist and I LOVE it... Don’t get me wrong, I still love animals, at any given time in the last 18 years I have had at least 4 animals living with me... cats, dogs, birds and even a beautiful weasel!! And because I’ve gotten increasingly sick over the last 20 years, I wouldn’t have been able to keep up with a job with animals, as it is I hardly can work with hair, but I love it, so I would rather work a few hours a day with something I love than full time in a job I hate - and that’s what I put towards my animals too!! I would rather surround me with a few I can give a lot of love and attention, than a menagerie that I wouldn’t be able to care enough for... Ok this post got really weird and deep, but the end of it is, that even if you LOVE animals, you might not need to work with them to feel fulfilled - but if you literally only can think, eat and breathe animals, than you will be able to find a way in - persistence and positivity wins ;)
i’m a young adult and i’ve not had a job since i’ve left school because of health reasons but since i was about 8 i’ve wanted to work with animals and i’ve never really known how to do it but now i think i have a good chance after watching this video!! thank you so much for making this it means a lot ♥️♥️
This makes me realise how lucky I am to be working full time as an Animal Educator! I’ve been asked to give a talk in a local college, about how to break into the animal industry to the young animal care students, and you’ve definitely inspired me to say yes to do that talk now! 🙂
Emzotic and I’m dying now 😂 whoa I didn’t think you’d answer c: thank you though. Your videos keep me optimistic about jobs and that one day I’ll be able to work with animals and hopefully even start up my own sanctuary later down the line. I stick with that saying though, it’s helped me get to where I am. If it weren’t for who I knew I wouldn’t be able to walk right now I’d still be looking for a hip surgeon who didn’t know how to do the procedure I had done all together and instead of four surgeries it would probably be doubled because they’d have to do it in steps rather than what my surgeon did cause he’s the only one in the state? I believe who does what I had done? 🤔 rambling sorry. Anyway. Yeah lol you’ve helped immensely with keeping my head up and that sayings gotten me so far in life and it’s something everyone should hear.
Hey Creatures! Thank you so much for watching this video. I hope it can help you in your animal career journey
I love you period your such an angel I swear
Emzotic Love you soo much hope you see my comment I explain a lot in that❤️
I hear a lot about better help. I might try it. Even people who arent depressed or who dont even realize they are depressed, I think it would be helpful for everybody.
I joined some anxiety group, and it's so nice I get to meet and listen to new people, and there also some cool females there I'm going to marry (one even has 40+ animals)
Anyways, I'm just saying, even if your mental health is good, this stuff cant hurt and can only halp.
You are AMAZING
OKAY IM RAMBLING
Just enjoy high school. Meet new people. Enjoy learning new subjects. High school is a difficult time for lots of people, but when it's done, people are a lot nicer and changed. (I think our animal instincts try to make everybody the alpha Male and its dumb...)
IM RAMBLING... OKAY BYE.
Wish to train an cermets
Train cermets to swim so they will not fall in pool
But that iz too mach watare
YES!!! You must water cermets daily or they dont gRoW
Feed ur cermets lots of chiken so they will an grouwh
Plz feed your cermets or they will not grow
I love that you’re talking about jobs that work with animals that aren’t just a vet! I could never be a vet because I couldn’t put an animal down but I want to train service dogs!
Amazing, I’m considering owner-training and am looking for help. It’s such a mindfield out there and allot more ppl needed.

Awesome job em! That eyeshadow makes you look like a queen! 💁🏻♀️👑💜
bearded [dragon] lady Thank you!!!!
I know I want to go into a field with animals, but I’ve been SO stuck on what kind of career specifically I want to go into. Thanks for the advice! It made me feel a little less worried about the future!
Hannah Moore you’ve got this! X
Tobias That’s just such a sweet comment. Thank you so very much for coming to watch and for sharing your story xxx.
My mom hates most reptiles too, although she is fine with bearded dragons and forgs.
My mum is terrified of any reptiles
I’ve had my bearded dragon for about two years and at first my mom really really didn’t like him. She now is talking about getting her own since she’s fallen in love with mine!
My man's is a reptile fan heck eah
I really enjoy watching your videos The animals are very fortunate to have you both
I got an A on my biology exam today!! Your videos make my day so much better ❤️❤️❤️
Luke O'Neill No way!!!! Congratulations, Luke!! Xxx

Thank you! ❤️
I’d love that story time about your zookeeping experience!

Hudson Love101 Don’t listen to those people. You CAN work with animals and make a living!! Xx
Emzotic aw thank u!!!!

Sincerely,

This personally helped me a bunch, and I'm really comforted to know people like you are here to help others!
Also the things I wrote down are, stubborn, creative, passionate, stability, purpose, fun, artist, architect, photography,
and if anyone has an idea on what would be a great job for me please feel free to tell me!
I just have to find time to make it work.

hahayourfunny94 How did you get into acting/stage managing if you don’t mind me asking? It’s a field I’m interested in as well, and I love hearing about how people get into “odd” jobs where there isn’t quite a clear path :)
This was EXTREMELY helpful! This coming summer I plan to volunteer at our local zoo as a "Junior Zookeeper". They treat this much like a job. You fill out an application, then have an interview. This video really helped me understand what I can do to be a few steps ahead of other people in this highly competitive industry.
I'm 13 but I really love animals and want to work with them in a pet shop.or somewhere else
Guide Dog Owner (GDO) here
Puppy raisers are usually volunteers.
This video will definitely help me... I've always wanted to have a job that is to do with animals because I love them so much.

But I'm 18 and my mom never would've let me do that in a bajillion years 😂😂but luckily she has no say anymore mwahahah😂😂😂😂😈😂😂lmao
Wow Jem! You have a whole zoo!!
I wanted too but realised i will not have time for my reptiles, and i think that i don’t want to do this :(

I really want to work with animals when I grow up! Right now I foster dogs and sometimes cats, take care of my own 3 pets, and BINGE WATCH EMZOTIC!!!
I'm starting to think that it'll work out somehow and I'm less afraid about the future - I just can't give up, I have to try every opportunity I will be given and if one way won't work out another might :D
Thank you very much for your help, positive attitude and fun videos, I'll never stop watching them!
I would really love to one day open my home to be a wildlife rehabilitator. I am a stay at home mother right now and it might be a little difficult to start. How would you recommend that I get around to becoming one?
In my opinion start volunteering as one. To gain experience and knowledge. My supervisor at my wildlife rehab center also has a vet tech degree.
Jodie Owen I would love that too!
@@Emzotic there are other assistance/service dog charities too (ppl don’t think of them bc guide dogs are more known) I have a guide dog myself.
Thank you so much for making this video. I've been completely lost and been doing jobs that I hate so much that I don't want to wake up in the mornings. I really took everything you said to heart. Thanks a lot
OMG EM! YOUR EYESHADOW IS AMAZING 😘😘😘😘😘😘
Morgan Sharp Thank you!!! It’s the Urban Decay ‘Electric’ palette :)
Emzotic it’s stunning 😍😍😍😍😍😍
When I grow up I want to be a vet
Can I just say I came across your account at one point during 2018 summer and I just want to say you’re the person that really inspired me to want to work with exotic animals ( I’m aiming to be a wildlife vet ) and you just really sparked my interest with all these amazing animals. So thank you :)
Love this information and Dobby and Niffler
XxBLUECREEPERGxX 247 ❤️❤️❤️
I've struggling to get into vet school for some time now. I still have 3 subjects to pass to actually get it, and it's so hard it's getting frustrating and it's really messing with my self-esteem and my depression issues. But I did the exercise, and I'm so excited to be a vet someday that I just cant give up.
I really needed the help and the push, Em, thanks. And as always, keep up the good work!
We love you 💚
Ive been really thinking on doing Vet Tech and this video helped. Thank you
JebusSins You can do it! Congratulations!!
Omg Em THANK YOU SO MUCH for your advice, i really want to work with animals when i grow up. 😘 You helped me so much! My perfect job is zoologist
Green Wolf123 Fantastic choice!!! You can get there with hard work! Xxx
Ikr!! So helpful🙏 I also want to be a zoologist😊
I’m 14 and I volunteer at my local farm at their reptile house! It’s so fun and I’m so happy I’m doing it so early to prepare me for my later life! Love you Em xx

Clay Reichard Oh Im so sorry about your horse.. I hope they’re at least comfortable :( it must be extremely hard for you. I wish you both the best xxx
I wanna do a zoology degree at university and go into a career working with animals so this was really helpful thankyou so much
Thanks for this video. This is my first year of high school and it's been extremely rough. Animals and horses are what are keeping me sane right now lol. Love you Em!! 💕❤️🐶🐎🐘🐅🦎🐕🐊🐍
This video really helped me I love animals but I have a passion for photography
Creepyturtle 665 Amazing!!! Xx
What about animal photography you get to see and work with animals and it’s photography
Thanks guys ❤️❤️
Thank you for this! I’m currently doing animal care at collage and I’m wanting to move to Florida and do animal education and own a pet store! I want to one day own a zoo too!! You have been a huge inspiration, so thank you for everything!

Em thank you so much for your videos. Ive always have wanted to work with animals and never was truly interested in anything else, your videos have not only been enjoyable but they really motive and inspire me. I felt really lost before finding your channel and although im still figuring out so much you have definitely made me feel more confident in my future :)
I put this on while I was cleaning out my stinky weasels’ cage. Good distraction from the smell 😷.
Christopher Bowler I understand the weasel stink!! Xx
This truly reaffirmed my belief that I'm heading in the right direction!! Thank you em for this fantastic video, hope all is well 💕 you're such an inspiration
Hi Em! I'm early! I love your videos:D
Btw your bunny is so cute!
Shraddha Patil wow so early!!! Thank you!! And yes, dustbunny is super cute!!
I love you so much em! So happy for this video. I'm currently working towards my ged with a wonderful outreach program that's helping me set up with a college that offers many different animal courses and I feel so greatful! I constantly keep your advice in mind! I don't know 100% where i want to be but i know its with animals!
This is so helpful ,im actually going to an animal care college next year woo
lellina Piccolina Good luck!
which college are you going to?
I’m doing animal care and it’s awesome, good luck! You’ll love it
There are animal care colleges?
That list exercise is sooo helpful... brilliant! Thank you
How I wish I had had such opportunities when I was young! 😢
H. CALVERT Never too old! X

You're so inspirational, honey, but I'm approaching retirement & anything that isn't already broken, is breaking!
I wish my rabbits would let me hold them even briefly.
I have a Flemish Giant I named Midnight and a Continental Giant named Orion.

I read onion..😂
All rabbits are different :) Try feeding him his favourite treats while he’s in your lap :) Maybe then he’ll look forward to more interaction xxx
Na Zella I’m still a jacket potato when it’s cold! 🥔 ❄️
ever since I was little I was positive that I was going to be a vet. but once I binge watched your videos and realized that you could be an animal educator I am positive that im going to do that as soon as im old enough
Aww Ferret yawn 😍😍😍
Adrienne Williams He knows how to be cute!
Maartje Ebbing Good luck!!!
My absolute goal is to become an animal educator but I have severe anxiety and always worry I’ll never achieve it :( you’re amazing Em and your life sounds so great! 💕 love from the UK!

Ok this post got really weird and deep, but the end of it is, that even if you LOVE animals, you might not need to work with them to feel fulfilled - but if you literally only can think, eat and breathe animals, than you will be able to find a way in - persistence and positivity wins ;)
nobody gonna talk about that terrifying moment we get at 2:34 .....
just me- ok.
Isabella Anderson Oh god
i’m a young adult and i’ve not had a job since i’ve left school because of health reasons but since i was about 8 i’ve wanted to work with animals and i’ve never really known how to do it but now i think i have a good chance after watching this video!! thank you so much for making this it means a lot ♥️♥️
yay finally a bunny
ArminMin This is Dustbunny :)
This makes me realise how lucky I am to be working full time as an Animal Educator!
I’ve been asked to give a talk in a local college, about how to break into the animal industry to the young animal care students, and you’ve definitely inspired me to say yes to do that talk now! 🙂
How did you get in to it?
I’ve been considering going to college to do animal care but, I’m 26, don’t know if I’m past it lol.
I REALLY WANT TO BE IN A ANIMAL CAREER
Josh Playz You can do it!!
I’ve loved animals my whole life and always had a huge respect for them, my second word I ever spoke was literally ‘fish’ 🤣🐠
I’m doing a animal related college course next year ☺️
I love that comment, “it’s not what you know but who you know” my mom uses that all the time especially when I’m applying to a job.
Samantha Bennett It’s so true in all jobs :) Make contacts and treat people well xxx
I want to be a groom or a show jumper I do not mind either but my career adviser said to give up in the only thing I seem to enjoy... should I?
Georgia StrawberryPort NO!!! Never give up!! Careers advisors are usually jaded. You’re young and fresh and can do whatever you want! X
