Even after 4+ years this car is still one of the best in the market. The new gen Type R has a very tough act to follow.

Great car and love the POV drive.
I may be the only one - but it is also kind of a reminder why something like the underpowered older Miata or something small and cheap like a Honda Fit can be so much more fun than... a track machine. You simply can't push the track machine in daily driving without ending up in the slammer.
Love my fit and it’s practicality, and if I push it, it responds ready for whatever I put it into. The pedals also are much better for heel toe than my previous VW’s.
You're definitely not the only one! I feel the exact same way about my '11 Mazda3 (non-speed, and the 2.0 MZR engine from before SkyActiv was a thing). It's a blast rowing through the gears, then you look down and see you're going... 40 lol. Very approachable fun.
The more Type R videos that I watch, the more I like it.

Surprised about the rattles, I drove one of these a few years ago when it already had several thousand miles and it was granite solid which really shocked me because of it being a 5 door hatchback body structure. It honestly felt about on par with rigidity of the Cayman GT4 I had at the time, which impressed the hell out of me
The LE has sound deadening material removed and allows for more road noise/cabin noise
Chassis is stiff - panels are soft/flexible
My dash wobbles now that i run upgraded engine mounts - car is a blast
Have my eye on a GT4 RS but not at 80k over msrp lol

The 20s were a design choice for scrub radius (eliminating torque steer) and steering response at high speeds/ring times
I bought insurance on wheels and tires for my R - already replaced 2 tires and about to get a new wheel (slight bend on outer lip from massive pothole)
Bought 18x9.5 +45 offset for daily use - 18lb wheel chops alot of rotational mass off car.
gonna run 275s on them
For track use alot of guys are running 18x10 and 305s upfront 275s in the rear

2:15 Wow, can't believe that Honda still hasn't figured out how to make a 6 speed. This 1-2 gear grinding issue dates back to the 2006 Si.

Its not the trans its the clutch delay valve
Any Honda guy worth his salt deletes it, adjusts the clutch throw and never has an issue again lol
Made for the M5/275/696 ramps, maybe next time...such a tame drive. 19" BBS on the LE? Always great to watch a Type R drive, thanks. (20,000 miles on my 2019 , loving every mile).

That knob is BRUTAL in the heat! It looks to be the same gig they've been putting in Type Rs for the past decade or so. I bought a pair of wool gloves (that I would never need where I live) to put one on top of the knob if I had to park in the sun all day.
Just replace the shift knob with a plastic one 😂

The CTR is such a wonderful driving experience. Too bad that when I step out the styling makes me vomit. I wish they could take this exact vehicle and make it's styling suitable for an adult.

I'm torn between a Type R and an Elantra N (when it comes out). Really looking forward to seeing the new CTR on this channel and the Elantra N.
Elantra n will be cheaper and imo is much better looking so that would be my choice
10th gen CTR vs Elantra N, I'd probably go Elantra, at least for my one daily driver. More easily accessible fun on the street, and much more optioned out. I'd wait until they show specs off for the 11th gen CTR before I would make a decision though.
pre-pandemic, i had seen some CTRs in my area for near msrp; if i could still find one at that price, i'd get one in a heartbeat. well, that and if i didn't live in a city with such terrible roads. the n is a great value, but if you actually want to track or push your car to the limits, it's not even remotely close to what the CTR can do.
short version: the n is a great car, but the CTR is special.
Elantra is a joke

The Civic R will hold its value as an icon and have the potential the Elantra could only dream of
out of all cars u drove, which one would you daily and which you would drive to a canyon road and have fun ?

Great car, but I just appreciate RWD more.
Even if the CTR is faster around a track, let’s be honest and realistic guys. Nobody here is driving a CTR as fast as it’s track numbers that were produced by professional drivers, of which they made many many attempts to get those numbers. So for everyday Joe Schmo car enthusiasts like you and me, realistically, you’re not going to be pulling away from other Joe Schmo enthusiasts in their non-CTR cars.
Since this a fact, RWD is just funner. Getting sideways at slow speeds is super fun. You can’t do that in the CTR or any other FWD car. You would have to be going pretty quick to even enjoy the CTR’s handling capabilities to say it’s “so much funner” than any other FWD hatch, of which is only really done 5-10% of the owners time driving it.
So to me, I’m getting RWD, especially when this CTR is over $45k!!

Yep! Had good reliability with it. Got a 10 the other day and it had exposure issues so I returned it. For the settings we use the 8 is just as good imo

I got a 2019 model. So thankful i didn't receive the 2020 plus steering wheel. Seems like a downgrade! Anyone who claims its better than the original leather wrap is fooling them selves!

@@TheTopher Could definitely hear the conversation but had to turn up the volume a little. This made for some loud ads! A first world issue for sure. It was great to hear the back and forth views. Here we are in 2021 with some of the most amazing materials science ever, you would think there is a way to have a metal like shifter that does not burn your hand :). That said, do not annoy Honda too much, they will threaten to fit a CVT.
Also, bad substitute Topher, doesn’t use turn signals
