i use my method which is literally just closing your eyes and imagining or reminiscing random thoughts in your head, you would be like "yo why the hell did i do that do that was so embarassing" or sum like that and you would fall asleep after a minute, figured it out whenever i stay up so late im still awake when my dad wakes up because of his early shift, i fake sleep and get bored so i think about things and i would eventually fall asleep, ive also learned a way of staying asleep even though ive been closing my eyes for a minute is by hiding one eye under the blanket and keep that eye open
Ahh yes I remember falling asleep in under two minutes back in my usmc days. But I also remember being so incredibly exhausted, I could feel each cell in my body throbbing and then I closed my eyes and that was that lol
I’ve done that don’t think stuff so many times it works when you need it, and if ur really good at keeping ur eyes closed then you’ll definitely fall asleep. But the best feeling ever is after work shower then bed it’s just heavenly
One day a week I need to go to sleep like 7 hours earlier than normal and that’s my biggest obstacle. If I lay there with my eyes closed my mind wanders which makes me put on a show or some TH-cam or whatever for some background noise and then I get invested in the show or video lol I was tempted to try that lettuce thing or just straight up get some drugs but I’ll give this a shot first
@@Fetidaf Instead of watching a show or TH-cam it's better to listen to calming music or nature sounds like rainfall. @@annarodriguez9868 I’ve tried the traditional “relaxing” sounds and it’s no better than silence imo, my brain just drowns them out and my mind wanders… maybe I need to find my own thing. I’m a truck driver and got used to the engine running so maybe I’ll try to find a “semi idling for 10 hours” or something like that lol
Yeahh no „don’t think“ won’t do it for my adhd brain. Three things that help me fall asleep are: 1. Recall your memory of that day (if it went well/okay) in the most detailed way you can, from start to finish. Like „I woke up, checked my phone, went in the bathroom to pee, made some breakfast, looked outside….“. There is comfort in the mundane and the past and it leaves you feel safe since everything already happened. If your day was average it can also be kinda boring which is great if you’re trying to fall asleep. Works wonders for me as a chronic bedtime overthinker lol 2. Invent a non-existing word that you don’t have any associations with and repeat it in your head over and over. Your brain will get bored because the word doesn’t mean or demand any action and your mind will often resort to just shutting off. And last but not least: 3. I tell myself „Whatever it is that I’m dwelling on right now and however overwhelming everything is- it can wait until tomorrow. Right now I don’t have to do or solve anything“ and that’s also comforting. Hope it helps!
I have a set of things, that would work with this as well. Breath through your nose as deep as is comfortable. Wiggle to feel the support of the bed. Whatever part is the most supported, this is your anchor. Take a breath, and notice any other parts that are supported as well as your anchor. Your pillow, your legs, your arms. No wrong answers just notice them. As you notice these things, see if you feel any other sensations in your body. Label them, pleasant, neutral, or unpleasant. (or comfortable, neutral, or uncomfortable) If they are uncomfortable, see if you can move to greater comfort take a breath, and move your awareness back to your anchor. Try to imagining a place in nature you find comforting. You may also notice thoughts. Label those too. Pleasant, neutral, or unpleasant. If they are pleasant, enjoy them. If not dismiss them gently and take a breath and bring your awareness back to your anchor. That's it. A few things to note: Not every tool works every time, so don't feel bad for skipping one that's not working. Also the point with this is not to be still. It's to move from less comfort to more comfort. And move as many times as you need. So often I find myself afraid to move because I'm "supposed to be falling asleep" but sitting in the uncomfortable place isn't going to help.
Step 1: relax ur muscle. Done Step 2: visual something peacefull. "Im lying in a boat on the lake", done Step 3: stop thinking. "Im fighting a giant monster in that lake with flame sword"

What do you mean by trying to sleep like "this"? Like, don't sleep on your back to not induce sleep paralysis? Or to not do this method of "falling" asleep? I've been getting sleep paralysis from time to time and I'd like to know if it was because of my sleep position 😅

This 100% works, I’ve been using it for years as it was taught to me when I was young. People have been saying that it can cause sleep paralysis but I think that entirely depends on whether you are prone to it or not.
exactly, everytime i try really hard to fall asleep on that exact position and visualizing smth i get horrible sleep paralysis that completely just ruins my night. i wonder why it does that in some of us.
@@fridaycaliforniaa236It is a terrifying demonic attack. People say its just a natural phenomenon, but its not. But sleep paralysis is fun. One time when staying at a hotel with my brother, I saw a very cool smoke monster standing over him sucking his soul out. When I told him about it later, we laughed so hard! Ok, while it was happening, I was scared to death...and also every other time it happened...I change my mind, it's not fun.
I used to get sleep paralysis almost every night, now that I kniw how to escape from them i have never experienced another sleep paralysis night. When you are in sleep paralysis your body is asleep and your brain is awake, start shaking your neck and head muscles fast and you will wake up the rest of your body, I did this 5 nights in a row and never ever had sleep paralysis again.
I just imagine myself as a character in a story of my favorite event/cdrama and make it up as i want! I instantly fall asleep and it works every time 😂
I used to do this too but over time I found that it stopped working and instead of actually falling to sleep I would just spend hours "daydreaming" like this. And then I realized that I had already learned this lesson in childhood! I had a sleep study done and when I woke up the Dr. asked if I slept and I said Yes, he asked if I dreamed and I said Yes. Then he told me No, you didn't. According to my brain waves I was awake the entire time! I had been playing in my head, I thought those were dreams and I was sleeping but nope.
it worked. I'm laying in my bed right now and I'm literally ganna take like a 30 minute nap. I'm literally using this every time I want to sleep. and also now I want to sleep more.
I didn’t fall asleep in 2 minutes, but it helped relax me in a way I think. Also repeating “don’t think” was too distracting to me. repeating “nothing” worked better.
I can never not think. The only way I'm able to fall asleep is by putting on headphones and listening to a podcast or anything relaxing till I fall asleep to it. Even as a kid I used to fall asleep watching cartoons
For the thinking part I do it differently. I usually don't give a fuck of whatever comes up to my mind instead I focus on relaxing my body. And because I am not bothered by whatever thoughts comes up in my mind and focused solely on relaxing everything and trying to shut off my senses I can sleep pretty easily even while sitting down or at the middle of a huge crowd in an arena.

I appreciated that you explained that it will take you roughly two minutes to fall asleep once you've mastered the technique which can take up to six weeks. I feel like most videos would have called this a fail since it took you over two minutes to fall asleep.
The funny thing is that I discovered this method step by step for myself many years ago without ever learning it from anyone. It was just something that worked for me, and some years later I heard it was an existing military method! Hahaha! 😅 Maybe I was soldier in a past life!
The technique is called body scanning, you can find tracks to guide you step by step. It works really well but imo two minutes is a bit unrealistic unless you're dead tired already. As for the clear your mind part, thats meditation and "don't think" is arguably the worst method. Its better to just let your thoughts flow without giving your mind space to explore them. Keeping your mind occupied is easier at first, but the general method is counting your breathing, 1 on the in breath, 2 on the out, then repeat. "Breathing in" "breathing out" also works well
Another way is mastering control of your heart rate. I was at work once and i keps fogging up my safety glasses with my breath so i thought. Ill just calm my breathing more. Got it down to very very small slow breaths... my whole body relaxed and i felt great. And legit blacked out till my face hit the control panel of the machine i was running.
😮 I used to do this to fall asleep when I was a kid, didn't know it was a "military technique"...the sad thing is I forgot about it, since now I sleep fast just from being so tired
I just naturally fall asleep within 1-2 minutes. I'm not sure if this is because I am extra tired or extra lazy. I just try not to nap the entire day. So the moment I reach my bed and lie down, I instantly start falling asleep.
As a veteran this is 💯 true! Once you master this technique you can literally fall asleep anywhere even in the most uncomfortable areas. I once used a large rock to hold my helmet in place and it became my pillow in the field just to catch at least 5 minutes of sleep😂
So I have horrible anxiety, and so I have gone to this very special therapy program to help with my horrible anxiety, and there is a strategy they have there called “TIPP” and progressive muscle relaxation is part of it, so when I heard him say that, I was like OMGGGGG I KNOW THATTTT because I don’t really hear that often besides theory (and yes, I am way better now, but I still have anxiety. I’m the same!! I can sleep in class without issue and wake up just before the bell rings for us to leave
It takes my chemistry teacher only 17 seconds to make me sleep.
And my math teacher just 6 second
When i was in military school the night officer would guide us through this method and it worked each time. It was so much easier when it was guided.
EASIEST WAY: Be awake till 5am, lay on the bed and the moment you wake up, it will already be 3pm. It always works and i would recommend this to everyone😊🤗
I can't wait that long. It's correctly 3am i have to sleep if I don't want to unlock epilepsy
@@KaIliev19 huh? WDYM Like you have epilepsy or yo🧐u don't want to get?
@@whybhavi I don't want to have it. When I went to get a check up the Doctors said, that I need less time on screens (phones, monitors and else) and sleep more, so that I don't end up in a situation where I have it.

Eh, the important thing is to just relax effectively. So as long as you don't tense up and have random thoughts you're gonna sleep like a baby
I do the same too, been sleeping soundly since last year

I’ve heard this before and was hyper skeptical but I tried it and now I found out it works almost perfectly!!
Im almost never super tired because I get 8-10 hours of sleep every night. 10/10 would recommend
i use my method which is literally just closing your eyes and imagining or reminiscing random thoughts in your head, you would be like "yo why the hell did i do that do that was so embarassing" or sum like that and you would fall asleep after a minute, figured it out whenever i stay up so late im still awake when my dad wakes up because of his early shift, i fake sleep and get bored so i think about things and i would eventually fall asleep, ive also learned a way of staying asleep even though ive been closing my eyes for a minute is by hiding one eye under the blanket and keep that eye open
Ahh yes I remember falling asleep in under two minutes back in my usmc days. But I also remember being so incredibly exhausted, I could feel each cell in my body throbbing and then I closed my eyes and that was that lol
Field naps rah
Sigh. Remember when you're eyes throbbed too?
I’ve done that don’t think stuff so many times it works when you need it, and if ur really good at keeping ur eyes closed then you’ll definitely fall asleep. But the best feeling ever is after work shower then bed it’s just heavenly
One day a week I need to go to sleep like 7 hours earlier than normal and that’s my biggest obstacle.
If I lay there with my eyes closed my mind wanders which makes me put on a show or some TH-cam or whatever for some background noise and then I get invested in the show or video lol
I was tempted to try that lettuce thing or just straight up get some drugs but I’ll give this a shot first
Or you can hit your head with an hammer and then you will get knocked out (you may never wake up tho)
@@dahcat I love me some good ol’ blunt force trauma to the head on a good ol’ day off.
@@Fetidaf Instead of watching a show or TH-cam it's better to listen to calming music or nature sounds like rainfall. My favorite night sound is a train rolling by in the distance probably because it reminds me of being at my grandparents home in the summer when I was a kid. Anyway, find that relaxing sound and you will get to sleep.
Three things that help me fall asleep are:
1. Works wonders for me as a chronic bedtime overthinker lol
2. Invent a non-existing word that you don’t have any associations with and repeat it in your head over and over. Your brain will get bored because the word doesn’t mean or demand any action and your mind will often resort to just shutting off. And last but not least:
(or comfortable, neutral, or uncomfortable)
If they are uncomfortable, see if you can move to greater comfort take a breath, and move your awareness back to your anchor.
So often I find myself afraid to move because I'm "supposed to be falling asleep" but sitting in the uncomfortable place isn't going to help.
coolllll
It’s a technique to help sleep, but is not guaranteed and it doesn’t usually take just 2 minutes but longer for most.
Step 1: relax ur muscle. Done
Step 2: visual something peacefull. "Im lying in a boat on the lake", done
Step 3: stop thinking. "Im fighting a giant monster in that lake with flame sword"
Tbf "stop thinking" is a replacement for "think relaxing thoughts"

I used to do this too but over time I found that it stopped working and instead of actually falling to sleep I would just spend hours "daydreaming" like this. And then I realized that I had already learned this lesson in childhood! I had a sleep study done and when I woke up the Dr. asked if I slept and I said Yes, he asked if I dreamed and I said Yes. Then he told me No, you didn't. According to my brain waves I was awake the entire time! I had been playing in my head, I thought those were dreams and I was sleeping but nope.

The worst part of this is, if your unlucky it instead just gives you self induced sleep paralysis.

The funny thing is that I discovered this method step by step for myself many years ago without ever learning it from anyone. It was just something that worked for me, and some years later I heard it was an existing military method!

That's what I always did. My family always marveled as the way I always fall asleep as soon as I lay down
The technique is called body scanning, you can find tracks to guide you step by step. "Breathing in" "breathing out" also works well
I’m so good at this technique that I don’t even need to do it to fall asleep instantly
In order to fall asleep, just pretend you are attending a university lecture.
Its true, it knocks me out like a baby even if I don’t feel that tired
