They're not going to help him by getting him a real honest-to-God home because he's sleeping in his car, dude They're not going to help him by taking him to the hospital. They're going to charge him money that he likely doesn't have and can't pay for with the medical attention he'd receive because of his own actions leading to the broken arm. They're not going to help him find gainful employment. That's not their job. They charged him and the recidivism is because he ran from them instead of stopping. That man will likely die in the streets, alone, with no car, no house, no loved ones because of cascading failures in our community. Like... Tell me with some kind of quantitative answer: How'd they help him? How could you or I have helped him?
First group of cops did an OUTSTANDING job trying to get the man in mental health crisis out of the car as gently as possible. Great communication, good plans, making one person the communicator with the subject; wish they had a ballistic shield for that maneuver to the back window of the van, but that's probably a funding issue, and they pulled it off pretty well. They should all be acknowledged for their efforts and what seemed to be genuine empathy for the man. If we dog the cops when they f*ck up, which we absolutely should do, we should also give them due props for any of the positive things they do for folks in the community and for being examples that other officers can follow to build a new blue wall for good.
The first part of the video was honestly refreshing to see. That captain gave many non lethal tactics towards the man who didn’t want to comply and step out of the car. Also how they all communicated with the man calmly and professionally by the end of that part of the video.

First guy got pepper balled, a can of mace dumped into his car, and probably had a broken wrist from being shot by a bean bag. If he said "I can't breath", I'd honestly believe him.
That first one had very professional and well trained officers in it. They didn't put themselves in danger or have to use excessive force. I was impressed that they double cuffed him to avoid putting excessive strain on his injured arm. Most body cams show officers not taking the time to do that until the person is begging and nearly in tears.
Circumstances are also not the same in every case. Here, the guy did evade police but wasn't running through town at high speeds, putting everyone around him in danger. I think the one officer also already knew who the guy was, knew him to be nonviolent previously, etc. And plenty of officers were able to respond to the scene. That's a lot different than having to chase someone they have no experience with through populated areas at high speeds and then drag them from the vehicle because they don't know what this person is capable of, if they might have a weapon, and can't give them time to visibly dig around in their vehicle. Or if they do get out, they become resistant and/or combative. And getting them subdued as quickly as possible isn't "excessive force". It's hilarious that people are so out of touch with human behavior that they seem to believe if these people were just treated nicely from the beginning that it would go fine most of the time, especially when they've watched that exact scenario NOT play out and the person become resistant or combative no matter how they're approached. At that point, getting them subdued or secured, even if it means taking the little jerk to the ground, as quickly as possible actually saves them and the officers from further, and possibly much worse, injury a few minutes later. Or maybe they should continue to just wrestle with them gently- so as not to use "excessive force"- until someone ends up shot. Possibly even the suspect grabbing the weapon, shooting the officer and then going out into the world with that weapon to hurt others.
When you say "most body cams", it implies you watch a lot. 90% of these people start crying the second the cuffs go on and are perfectly fine. Cry wolf sounds familiar.
@@randyboisa6367 These fools who keep repeating "I can't breave" in a loud and clear voice must be unaware of the fact that speech is possible only when "breff" passes through the vocal cords. But first, air has to enter the lungs by breaving.

10:39 Impressive response by the officers. Using their keen sense of awareness, they immediately observed the subject having difficulty breathing and moved quickly to get him some fresh air. Their kindness brings tears of joy to my eyes.
What a stark contrast between the approach of the first encounter and the second. Incredibly handled in the first one, for sure! Def applaud those first officers for how they handled the situation! You go, guys!
The restraint shown in the use of force towards Andrew was nothing short of commendable. Through clear communication & discipline, these well organized officers demonstrated how response tactics, when proportionately applied, can reduce unnecessary loss of life, especially in those that have had a mental breakdown.
They're happy to throw an actual man who died from police mishandling under the bus and discredit all attempts to actually reform police if it means they, personally, can escape accountability for their choices.
You must be a teenager. Obviously when someone is having difficulty breathing they say they cant breathe. You dont wait until its impossible to say anything because theres not air in your lungs. Kids like you have a lot to learn.
Actually that's not true. There was a guy on one of these body cams who was sitting there saying he couldn't breathe. Just a few hours later died at the hospital because of a punctured lung.
When people say "I can't breathe" they usually mean "I'm having difficulty breathing". We've seen some on here that are definitely faking, but some are either really out of breathe/coming off adrenaline and probably do have trouble breathing, and others actually have some type of injury.
Good job on the officer letting everybody know he was about to use the bean bag so that everybody else doesn't start shooting. Bad job not running the plates sooner. I thought the police ran every plate they see in front of them.
It really depends on the department. Some HWY patrol units are running a lot more expensive tech, which does scan plates instantly. But others aren't as equipped/don't have proper protocols in place to scan plates like that
Wow, I don’t trust LEOs whatsoever, and even I’m super impressed with the first one. What wonderful teamwork, communication, and compassion that PD has. That would be a fantastic training video on how to stay calm under pressure and putting the sanctity of life first. Honestly, that was beautiful work.
The police showed a lot of patience and restraint with the guy Andrew. They went to great lengths to get him out and when he did finally come out they were as gentle as they could be under the circumstances. They should be commended for their professional manner and willingness to be patient with someone who was not at his best emotionally. I would not have been able to be that patient.
Those first cops were what you want from a police force. Sympathetic not wanting to just go in guns blazing helping someone who obviously wasn't in the right frame of mind. He wasn't trying to hurt anyone. Good job.
This is another example of our brothers in blue being so understanding toward some one who is suffering from a mental illness. It could have turned out differently if this man was a real bad guy. And still never once said, "I can't breathe "
@@jayduffy6289
If only it was the second guy that had the death wish, and the cops complied.
Pulling the whole doorhandle off is absolutely crazy
Nah, they are made like s**t. Break easy like cheap plastic crap that they are.
Unbelievable restraint and empathy from the officers on the first case. Wow what a great job
This is most "try another options" to end things peacefully I've ever seen, and most officers have WAYYYY more patience than I ever would be around some of these people they have to deal with. [Nod] These guys are like "let's Bean Bag him!" Haha. AWESOME 💛
10:39 Impressive response by the officers. Using their keen sense of awareness, they immediately observed the subject having difficulty breathing and moved quickly to get him some fresh air. Their kindness brings tears of joy to my eyes.
Those are the most compassionate police officers I've ever seen and I applaud them
He actually had an injury and the officers handled it correctly.
That was Toledo Ohio PD.. trust me, they arent always that nice lol
Are you talking about the second guy?
The criminal should have to pay when an ambulance is called
@@bmax43 ehhh, no. Because guilt or innocence isn't decided on the scene.
@@kellie9668 I'm talking about the guy with the busted arm.
What a stark contrast between the approach of the first encounter and the second. Incredibly handled in the first one, for sure! Def applaud those first officers for how they handled the situation! You go, guys!
The restraint shown in the use of force towards Andrew was nothing short of commendable. Through clear communication & discipline, these well organized officers demonstrated how response tactics, when proportionately applied, can reduce unnecessary loss of life, especially in those that have had a mental breakdown.
can't breath... but smoke weed... makes perfect sense...
No, its "I cant breave"
He was haviong a panic attack. Common symptom. Albeit not an excuse to run from the police
Best Answer Ever
"I can't breathe" ain't no way. why do they say this so often?
They're happy to throw an actual man who died from police mishandling under the bus and discredit all attempts to actually reform police if it means they, personally, can escape accountability for their choices.
I can't figure that out either because NOBODY cares if they can't breathe.
Floyd
Stupidly
Because they think it'll get them out of being arrested
law enforcement must be so frustrated with the "I can't breath"
It's BEYOND annoying
Here is a tip for you, if you can talk, you can breath.
Keep believing that old wives tale, and you'll end up in prison for life like Derek Chauvin.
Stop spreading lies that have led to people dying.
@@buckeyehockey1979 You said this so confidently while being wrong.

They are so patient and cautious. Not clear if the driver is able to hear or understand. Or if there is something else going on
He can flee but he can't breathe.
Great work by the officers in the first video. Good communication and deescalation skills, getting the driver secured in a controlled and safe manner!
Second guy started the “I can’t breathe” real quick 🙄🙄
Good job on the officer letting everybody know he was about to use the bean bag so that everybody else doesn't start shooting.
Bad job not running the plates sooner. I thought the police ran every plate they see in front of them.
It really depends on the department. Some HWY patrol units are running a lot more expensive tech, which does scan plates instantly. But others aren't as equipped/don't have proper protocols in place to scan plates like that
@@asbestos7910 Still, they had plenty of time to run the plates during the slow speed chase.
Imagine the drinking game you could make with the "bro" idiocy.

Great job guys , non-lethal, and respectful no escalation really great job !!
You know there’s going to come a time that someone will actually not be able to breathe!
The professionalism and empathy of all the officers in the first stop was 10/10. Exactly the type of officers we need.
Personal responsibility needs to make a huge comeback in today's society!
Bro ripped the door handle off lmao
how was he driving if he can't breathe or sit?
5:29 it is amazing how great of communication this team of officers have to ensure no premature firing of lethal. Great job officers!!!
the cop even thanked dispatch at the end. i thought that was very polite of him :)
10:25 didn't realize at first that the officer ripped the door handle off the car, 10/10 would not mess with that guy
These police are professional and empathetic.
Why can't they just once say "I can't breed"?
@lordvishnu8172 😂😂😂😂😂
We wish they couldn't breed...🤣✌️
Wish they couldn't breed
😂😂😂 love it.❤
You're the GOAT today!
These cops were INCREDIBLE. This should be a training video.
Wow. That dude with the broken arm and massive OC is super chill. I think the cops feel real bad for him.
Good job.
Wow that’s painful
This is another example of our brothers in blue being so understanding toward some one who is suffering from a mental illness. It could have turned out differently if this man was a real bad guy. That’s why we should always support and appreciate these true heroes. May God bless them and keep them safe.
“I can’t breeve.” Even before he was handcuffed. 😂😂😂😂. It’s their entire playbook
Nobody thought to run the plate during the 15 mph chase?
