  • Tourists visiting a Thai island are carried round in motorcycle side cars. The wacky form of transport has replaced taxis on the small resort of Koh Mak in Trang province, southern Thailand. Footage from last Saturday (Feb 29) afternoon shows dozens of colorful motorcycles with special seats attached are lined up at the main port waiting to offer travelers riding service. When the passengers come into the port, they will be provided low-priced transports to their hotels with only 50 Baht price per round per one person (1.25 GBP). They enjoy riding local taxis so much and some of them take pictures while riding from the pier. The taxi drivers also make money for their lives from their honest duty. The local tourist industry has been boosted by the sidecar taxi for more than 10 years. Taxi driver Anucha Wanmusa, 40, said he normally earn 2,000 Baht (50 GBP) per day. He said: "Most locals who drive a taxi for a living have earned a lot, because this is the easiest way to travel around the island. ''This is also a good way to directly distribute the income to local people because we do not have an agent." One Scandinavian backpacker said she was amazed by riding a unique motorcycle when she arrived at the island. She said: "We love riding a local taxi at Koh Mak so much. It is such a rare transport we have ever ridden. "If you do not ride a sidecar taxi, you will not get the real island vibes of Koh Mak."
