- In this full #review I will explain all the specs of the Maserati Grecale Modena and the BMW x3 m40i then take it for a test drive. The Grecale will have a turbocharged 4 cylinder with 325 horsepower, new technology on the Maserati and the BMW x3 m40i will have a more powerful inline 6 cylinder twin-scrolled turbocharge that has 382 horsepower. Not only more power the Bimmer will have but the BMW will also be faster reaching 60 but they still have quirks which will bring me to my pros and cons.

I’m trying to decide between the x6 m40i and the Grecale Modena. I love the look of Maserati (never owned one), but I feel like BMW has more bells and whistles 🙃 the deep discounts on the 2023 Grecale Modena are tempting though
They are both nice vehicles but for performance you have to go Trofeo on the Maserati otherwise the BMW is the best value. The GT / Modena are fun but the power isn’t the same as you see this GT vs the x3 m40i.
Yes Maserati is more but the style so so much better as well as the info tech

My dealership currently has all the Modena trims discounted $15-20k. That makes the Maserati a little more palettable. Most Maserati dealerships are discounting their vehicles since no one wants them.
I am on my second one but not a Grecale, I would only buy a Trofeo Grecale but any discounts a person gets it hurts the value overall 👍
Maserati looks good but the price BMW M40i better deal Bimmer for me👍

I was about to purchase a Grecale Modena but then backed out at last minute because I thought I would regret the 4 calendar engine. And the only dealer in my area was a Maserati-Ferrari dealer so thought I’d be getting bent over when it came to cost of maintenance. As much as I loved the look of the Grecale, I am breathing a sigh of relief that I did not purchase the vehicle
They are nice vehicles but I would only buy the Trofeo and I’m on my second Maserati. Service isn’t bad but it’s still a Maserati so around 500 a year and the big services around 1500 is for my engine (twin-turbo v6).

I’m choosing between grecale , x4 and Glc . It will be my first car, and I want to make a right choice. I afraid that grecale it’s not the best choice by technology, reliability and depreciation, but I like it more than others . What will you recommend?
I would recommended buying any of them pre-owned and certified. This way you will get 100k mile warranty and a little more time. I like the BMW the best but the ride is the most firm. The Maserati has a great value but I would say go Modena or Trofeo not GT. The Mercedes I would say amg43 but than you lose the soft interior for more sporty seating and suspension. If you are wanting the entry models the Mercedes will be the most smooth than Maserati and BMW. Fun to drive will be BMW, Mercedes than Maserati. Reliability is good with all three, I own a Maserati (not the Gercale), it's my second one, never had an issue. My Brother owns a BMW, my father has the Mercedes and both of them the same. Service will be the least with the BMW though.

I think I will choose the M40I, but I'm thinking about Lexus RX, two different characters, my heart says BMW, my mind says RX, Maserati is out.
I like both but I would end up with the m comp 👍
I prefer iDrive 7 over 8. I like to reach for a button or knob while driving, don't like having to go through apps to adjust something while on the road. Also the 8 is pretty damn ugly. Maybe I'm just too old school. Glad the X3 is not going to 8 until 2025. Maybe they'll fix it before then...doubtful.
I like the 7 because BMW cannot charge for every feature like they can for the 8
The Maserati will probably leave you stranded at some point during ownership. Italian electronics plus Chysler parts bin don't make a good pairing. I'll take the BMW all day , every day! No doubt.
I’ve had two and never a problem. Not this model but the one I own now is going on 9 years old and I bought them both new. Both vehicles are nice though 👍
@@HawkeyeRides The one great thing about the Grecale is that you can get some hefty discounts. I've seen many dealerships selling them for close to $20,000 off MSRP.
@@planetfabulous5833 that is a great point but if you buy it with that discount add it to the 25/30% depreciation driving off the lot. If you buy one try to go Modena or Trofeo otherwise the value isn’t as strong.
With these two, I would go BMW as it’s better with performance and less in service.
I prefer the Porsche Macan in this category. I know you tested the GTS (and got pulled over). That was crazy! Love to see you review a Macan S or even a Macan T please!! 🙏

I own a Grecale: the design of the infotainment is horrific. So is the placement of the gear selectors and the stupid idea to have them as buttons. Right above the touch screen for the climate control. These design flaws wear you down over the time. Have you heard the three chimes when you start the car? Do you like the loud sound of the turn signal? The audio must also doesn’t hold. Any messages on CarPlay make the stereo come back on etc etc etc so many bugs
I don't like the chimes it makes either I explained it in other Grecale review so I don't sound like I repeat myself 😃. It a fun vehicle but not as good as it should be.
