    We did the same. Even though the '18 X3 looks quite different from our older '15 X3 the Weathertech cargo Mat from the old one fits our new one perfectly.

      Agree. Nice to see the adaptive steering in action. I test drove the X5 and it felt too bulky. I'm leaning towards this X3 M40i.

    This is Awesome. I was looking into the X3M ,but heard many reviewers saying the suspension makes it almost unrideable it is so uncomfortable. I agree this is like the perfect option of fast sporty and usable and comfortable.

      @Piki279 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      X3M has softer suspensio than Jeep GC SRT - it's not bad IMO. Stiff but usable daily.

      It’s not floaty like the Benz, but I think it’s quite silky while allowing you to know the road is there, if that makes sense. I absolutely LOVE mine!!

    I bought one. I’m actually waiting to hear from the transport company that’s bringing my M550 up to the dealer and the X3 M40i down (I live in Florida, my dealer is in Virginia).
    Wasn’t a swap I wanted to make, but with gas prices, it made sense. Maybe it won’t be so bad. I had an F25 35i before the M550, and it never felt too weak.

    Wonderful review, the car clearly seemed exciting to drive. Does it feel very urgent all the time though, and even in comfort mode does it feel like its still restless to get going? That’s how my previous bmws have felt compared to others like audi, and its not relaxing and smooth enough when you want it to be

    Nice review, but didn’t quite need the numerous references back to [your] former X3.

  • @Philmoscowitz

    A couple other reviewers have remarked that the X3 M40i has a lot of road noise from the tires and aerodynamics, especially around the sideview mirrors. They've also said the ride quality isn't very comfortable even in the comfort setting. Did you find that to be the case as well?

  • @mikev3999
    @mikev3999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice. We have the '18 X3 30i. I have the B58 engine in my '20 M340 which is unbeatable but I don't think we need it in the SAV. It makes for a nice pair as the X3 is my wife's daily. X3 is fantastic except for a wonky set of sensors that often go off repeatedly in poor weather.

    I believe your X3 is equipped with adaptive M suspension. I ‘m told after 5-6 years one by one these adaptive suspension starts failing and the repair cost is quite high. What ‘s your views?

    BMW was certainly class leading when they used a hydraulic strut to hold open the rear cargo cover (the thing you were wrestling with) for the then new 2018 X3. But then they cheapened out and deleted it for the 2019 X3 and later on X3's.

    Its refreshing to see that you got another press car for your review and not just a passed on car from motormouth. I don't see why Tanzanite blue should cost any more than a standard metallic paint. It's just a deep blue and nothing special to me. Just wanted to correct you that the standard seats are Sensatec or leatherette and not leather. Do you know if the driver recorder can record any movement outside the vehicle when parked? Overall, great review. You touched on a lot of things that other reviews didn't! I love the M40i but the prices is so hard to swallow. An X5 with only $5k in additional options is not going to happen. Most of the xdrive40is have $15-$20k worth of options. After all these years, BMW still stands for break my wallet. 😔

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My bad, I just read meet her in the top of the build online. You are correct Sensatec is standard not leather. Motormouth always gets them first 😂

      I had the same question regarding drive recorder and it seems there is some confusion around it. As far as I know it will record events only when driving. Doesn’t make sense to me.

    • @MikeL-FL
      @MikeL-FL 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tanzanite is an Individual pearl paint. It’s hand sprayed. That’s why it costs extra. I have it on my M550, where it was an extra $1950USD. It’s actually a bargain. BMW charges $3850 or $5k for other Individuals.

    Hi Brian, I enjoy your channel. Now can you tell me now that you've reviewed both, how does the Genesis GV70 sport trim with the 6 cylinder engine compare to this X3 M40i? I am torn as I've had many BMW's as well. I love the GV70 styling and seems like there are more options on the GV70 such as cooled seats. I think the Genesis also has the self driving for stop and go traffic? Horsepower is very close as well.
    Judging by your expressions, I think the BMW pulls harder and is more fun to drive. I think you were impressed by the GV 70's power but your weren't as excited?
    I think to load up an X3 M40i similarly to the GV 70 the price difference would be over 13k?

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      BMW is a little more engaging to drive, not as isolated as the Genesis but since I’ve already owned 2 BMW X3s, if I were in the market myself I’d probably go for the GV70 for something different and for value. The back plastic on the rear of the GV70 bugs me though.

    Sounds all great until you hit the price; oof. Too bad the X3 hybrid is underwhelming in terms of electric range. Switching gears slightly (but not if cross shopping compact SUVs around this price range as I am), I’m looking forward to some Cdn reviews of the Genesis GV60 - may tempt me away from the pricey X3.
