42:11 and this is why I can never make these kinds of choices. Even as she knows she is going to die, her only thoughts are concern for you. She doesn't plead for her life, she only worries about how this will affect you. I can't hurt her. I can barely bring myself to hurt the Princesses, even though I know that they accept it in order to bring us together.
that's funny, because I saw this as the opposite of what you percieve, I see it as a really egocentrical being because she doesn't care about anyone besides herself and you, she doesn't see you as an individual, as "yourself", but as an extension or herself, but since she can't do that (the part that makes you and the part that makes her are separated forever) the only thing she can do is accompany you. The dialogue leads me to believe that despite everything she STILL sees you as a part of her and she still believes she's the one that stirs the cycle of change, and she cannot possibly be wrong, so yeah, I don't feel bad killing her, she needs to go! It kinda reminds me of white diamond now that I think of it
I love it so much you can hear the Hero chuckling when you ask him to describe things for old times' sake. And he is really doing his best at it. So wholesome.
41:50 Honestly love parts like this. Reminders that, by being everything the manifestation of change *isn't,* the Long Quiet is the manifestation of eternity. Completely unchanging.
Not a huge fan of the new ending but I suppose it does fill a niche of you being truly alone and also of beating The Shifting Mound without going back to the cabin, since she can beat you
Honestly it's great, but it would've been even better if it didn't blink between destroying her and unleashing your new world. Maybe some struggle, goodbye words (something harsher, unlike when you slay her as a princess?), or an agonizing animation of you unraveling her very soul would've perfected it. But with that and how short the liberation sequence took place, it didn't have enough time to settle for me. I was already at the credits when that "oh" feeling showed up.
@@felipdn3329But it's supposed to be that way, if you really think about it. She is the concept of change itself and when a fundamental concept of the world ceased to exist, it _ceases_ to exist, like it never existed before. Plus there can't be a long-drawn-out goodbye or any form of struggle - the whole point is you've risen above her and you now have the power to rewrite the world as though she, change, death, everything she contains, never even existed. And that's how she goes, like she was never actually there. If it feels like "oh", then that's exactly how it's supposed to feel. It's supposed to be unfulfilling, like you've lost an important part of yourself but also like you haven't lost anything at all. That's how I see it.
Other than for completion, I don’t think anyone would choose an ending where there is no change if they’d been down The Happy Ending path. Even in this video you changed to an ending where you leave with her, it’s so clearly the better ending
I agree. The only reason why I might choose endings where the Shifting Mound is finally destroyed is to complete the awards. Although the New Ending is nice enough since there’s no stasis.
Well, the new ending literally says that the world is "ever moving and never decaying". In other words, utopia and confirmation of the Narrator's words. Even the old ending with the murder end was still debatable because this is literally a new universe working according to new laws unimaginable to us, which is why it was impossible to say for sure whether it was good or bad. In the new ending, everything is much more obvious. "Happy end" root gives only one more interesting perspective on what is happening, which does not necessarily have to be the main one
@reubensalter8125 To be honest, I do not know where you get this feeling from, if this time it is literally being said that the world will not be static and it continues to move. And all this against the backdrop of a moving ocean, lol)
Fascinating… So I was half right and half wrong the entire time. No matter which version of the princess or Which version of the quiet you are, You and her have been asleep this entire time, Your consciousness being thrown between dimensions and realities that all are very similar with subtle differences and the one who does this to you is another primordial Eldritch creature that comes in the form of a voice in your head that becomes many voices…. It’s also fascinating to me that this Eldridge creature called the echo is also the one who split a primordial entity into two gods, one of change the other of order…. In order to break the cycle, All three gods needed to come to an end… And his infinite manipulation, The shifting mound and its infinite change, And the long quiet and its infinite choices. Infinity is the curse, And it was broken when all things truly came to its end and something new could be built. When all three parties accepted truth and moved on. This is what the echo truly wanted to show us, it was giving subtle hints on thinking for ourselves choosing for ourselves. But it wanted to know if we were capable of doing so and not just following orders or not just making decisions based on another will which is why it constructed other construct other voices to test us. When we finally broke free from manipulation, and from the princesses manipulation, infinity broke apart, the mirror broke apart, And thus the true forms of the remaining two gods that still lived were brought into the light to see each other one last time. And this… There was one Last decision to make, Embrace the truth or retreat to the lie. When that happened, The two remaining gods who held the world together, Reduce to their original true forms that were the only ones capable of true change, They finally moved on, Opened the door…. Leaving doubt and comfort within the lie behind… Onto the great unknown, and the what if.
The Narrator is actually a "Man" that did voodoo witchraft magic to separate a God into Eternity and Change (TLQ and Princess respectively). He did it because only one God can kill another God. To do it, he had to sacrifice himself, turning him into disembodied echos. At the mirror he states "the bones of the universe are old" which combined with what the Princess says if you ask her what happens if you leave together "This universe dies and a new one is born and that universe dies and a new one is born. And you and I will get to witness it all, weaving a tapestry of life wherever we go." makes me believe the Narrator's universe is near heat death. This is further supported by "A New and Unending Dawn" having a star that looks like a Red Giant, the stage in a star's life before it goes supernova. He essentially wants to kill the princess so his universe doesn't "experience Heat Death", as seeing his universe/home where everything he knows dies is not something he wants to happen, even if he died for it. So he wants his universe to not experience heat death and to do it he is willing to remove the concept of change. If the princess escapes the cabin that means change has been reintroduced and the heat death will continue. So from the point of view of change being reintroduced causes.
The narrator is not a god. He's an echo of a man that once was, created in order to counteract the one god's ability to become what one perceives them as...
I think this ending shows not just what the long quiet practically is. But also shows what the long quiet actually does during the end of the world. By Slaying the Princess. And clearly for the black hole in the background. This world is basically like being frozen in time. It also shows that this "New World" is technically already dead. And in the form of spaghetti vacation, judging by the distance of the black hole. And I think it's because of what the long quiet is implied to be. What I think the long quiet is space-time. Because of the fact that the long quiet iSIS always decaying, yet never shows physical decay. He literally go through the stages of weirdo mortis every time he look into the mirror. He also could be space-time in the fact that he breaks apart. Each one of the voices are technically a broken timeline. Breaking off every time this timeline dies. And in the fight scene, we see multiple arms but ever any other version of the long quiet, unlike the princess. And the shifting mound is definitely the representation of the physical universe itselflife and by extensionthat which lives in space-time. Something that can die and can through the law of reincarnation, come back to life. Something that can dramatically change every time that space-time fractures. This is also noted because she grows and collects vessels rather than fractures into various different pieces. For living things in various ways, grow their populations.
