My Brothers The Most High has really bless you guys with the head and hands this really great .Thank you for sharing .Your sista in Houston Texas (USA).Peace Love and Light.
Following along from here in the Caribbean. Hope there are no issues with planning and all would go well with the build. Good you have experience in building so can keep an eye on those building so won't get bad work done. Not everyone who holds a hammer or trowel knows how to get a proper job done. All the best for the months ahead
We need more small affordable housing. Here, 3 bedrooms at minimum or won't sell. I wish we had freedom to build 2 bedroom smaller housing for entry level housing. Around 425.0000 to start.
French doors or huge windows with side screens to see the view from inside and feel the breeze on rainy days instead of double windows for the porch side.
I'm looking forward to the build. I originally followed you because you built a suspended floor in a garage. Something I will be doing soon. Good luck with the build.
Lovely compact layout and good use of space. Was wondering about storage though. Will you build in wardrobes in the bedrooms or buy free standing ones? There are a lot of sockets on the wall where the wardrobes would presumably go? Found it interesting that although they still use imperial like the US the steelwork is metric. Bit confusing. Is 5ft wide enough for your deck, you couldn't fit a sunbed on it facing the view in 5ft, would have to go sideways, just wondering?
Are you going to come back to the UK ? Or are you moving back to the Caribbean permanently ? Is it London expensive to build where you are , the view would suggest yes ? House looks great !
Yeah should be an easy build. I’m not sure when he will travel her next. He’s doing well though, I video called him and MJ the other day when I was on the land. 👍🏾
That’s looking awesome! Was curious about you creating a small parking pad (that’s what we call it here in the states) adjacent to or near the steps so that you wouldn’t have to park on the street? Just asking because that street seems kind of narrow and I don’t see any other cars parked there and was wondering where your neighbors park?
Thankyou. I plan to clean up the area at the bottom of the stairs (by the road) and park there. It’s sort of dead land. There isn’t many houses around so not many vehicles but most are parked on the road.
Thanks. No we don’t need it. Usually air will circulate via the gaps in the corrugated sheeting. In our case we will have no ceiling so there isn’t an actual loft space of that makes sense.
Hey, something I didn't hear you mention was making the pillars of the house at different heights before tying them into the ring beam that the roof is built on, how does that work?
Did you say the building drawing was prepared by a architect ,or a draft person. Because this set of drawing more looking like the work of a drafts person.
I’m still working it out but I believe it is cheaper to build here than in the UK. So far I’m expecting around £600 per square metre and even cheaper as I’ll be the builder so there won’t be a companies profit on top
Nice to see the design coming together, but remember you will be looking at the bathroom as you come in through the front door which is never ideal. Personally id have living/dining on the left of the house at the front, kitchen at the back with French doors at the rear (opposite the front door) with a nice 6ft deep patio so you can bbq and sit out to eat etc..bedrooms & bathroom then on the right of the house, instead of at the back. this way you get a nice open space front to back. The high Ceiling idea is excellent. All the best pal (fellow UK geezer)
OMG I literally searched for Caribbean construction, and you came up. Guess where I'm planning on building ..... Dominica 🇩🇲! Talk about signs 🙏🏾.
I’m looking to build on Dominica too!
@@reubenfevrier2349 all the best with your plans.
How is it going are you building

Thankyou. Yes I’ll be the builder so everything will be in my hands and I’ll employ people to help me build.
Exciting. Thanks for sharing Darren. I will enjoy watching you build your home.
Thankyou 😊
Great design. Solid and affordable… 👏🏻👏🏻
How lovely!
Thankyou
Looks lovely. Hope there are no issues for you from planning 🤩

Extremely helpful and insightful. Thanks for sharing.
looking forward to the build.

Sounds good. I’ll play around with those ideas
I appreciate seeing how houses are built from the plans.
Will you be building yourself, taking on some helpers , electricians etc.
Funny shaped piece of land!

Awesome! Can you share the details of the architect you used please? :) thanks
Can the large front porch wrap around to include the backdoor for access from the kitchen?
I thought about that and may Infact extend the porch around. I think I’ll decide by the time we build 😊

Looks great have you left UK for good or is it a holiday home
Excelente video saludos 👌🏻
Looks nice, but do you think you can add an ensuite bathroom and an extra bedroom, or at least design for an easy addition?
Wow, looks great, how do I get in touch with you, Im currently in Dominica.
Hi Wendy, you can reach me via whatsapp +447580512409 or pbuilders@hotmail.com
thanx for that, it seems a lot more straight forward than in the uk. Will mr A be getting traveling time, hows he doing anyway.

Where in Dominica is this building meant for?

Nice job 👍🏼.
Did I miss the vents through the roof? Or you guys use soffits or and bathroom vents?

Darren - looking good. Is the aim to have this started or built before your return to the UK. Also do you have snakes to contend with there?
Hi Nick thanks, no I doubt we can start it while I’m here. Planning timeframe is the main issue. I hope to start in my next trip
how much was your total cost to build? God willing, I'm building in Antigua soon.
How is it going I would lobe to build in Dominica Salibsury a 2 bed house at first and eventually make it bifger
Hi Darren how does building costs compare to the UK out of interest?
I’m still working it out but I believe it is cheaper to build here than in the UK. So far I’m expecting around £600 per square metre and even cheaper as I’ll be the builder so there won’t be a companies profit on top
@@darrenthebuilder Jesus !!!! Less than half of UK costs. Good luck with the build looks an exciting project.
If the house is not being built to hurricane proof standards, you must have lots of insurance.
It’s built to hurricane abs earthquake standards

Out of interest. Are you allowed to go two storeys high, or just decide to go with bungalow?
Hi Chris, yes. You can go pretty high lol. I just decided not to make a house too imposing on the size of land.
Neighbours behind might object if it was 2 storeys as they would lose their view.
Are you bri'ish?
