I’m surprised at how much I actually liked Charlotte. In films like this, you’d think she would come off as an obnoxious rich brat, but she’s turns out to be the opposite of that. She continues to be a great friend to Tiana by giving her just the right amount of money for her restaurant, left her dance with Nareen to help Tiana clean herself up, and she accepted Tiana’s love for Naveen.
And another thing, at the end when she said "Well, I've waited this long!" she was actually referring to just dancing with a prince. But the moment can just as easily be taken out of the pocket.
I think making her a mean girl would be way too on the nose for the races they both are and the time period 😂. Her personality is a delightful surprise in that way
@@ronweber1402 yeah. Charlotte loves pink. She would NEVER wear something blue. Besides we can see her...certain attributes are a little bigger than Tiana's so that dress probably wouldn't fit her.
I see a lot of people saying this recently. I have nothing against Charlotte, but I do wish Tiana would get some more praise for the way her character was written. For a Disney Princess I think she has a very unique personality, unlike the other girls who have big dreams and wish for them to come true. Tiana knows she has to put in the work for her dream to be a reality, and she has no delusions about just how much work she has to do. She put everything on the back burner, her social life, her romantic life. If she was written in modern day they would have made her a cringy girl boss, but the way they wrote her in this movie is perfect. For a down to Earth realistic hero who's struggling to get by, but remains kind and humble. I do agree Charlotte's character is good as well though, I think her character is definitely worthy of the praise she gets. She's a little spoiled, but for the time period she's not an asshole she's actually nice.
I appreciate that her best friend always dreamed of marrying a prince and when she finally met an actual prince put the charm on but when she saw her best friend was genuinely in love with him. She took the L and stepped aside. ❤ I also love that despite Tiana being poor her best friend never looked down on her or gave her a hard time for working hard and earning her own way
AND gave her the rest of the money to cover for her restaurant! Well, from her dads pocket 🤣. I’m sure he didn’t mind since she made him some fresh beignets till he passed out lmao💗
I bet Lottie was just waiting for the moment she could give Tiana all the money she needed without Tiana protesting. I doubt Lottie or even her dad never offered to give or loan Tiana money. But she wanted to work for it like her dad worked for what he had.
Charlotte aka Lotti May be a bit much......but one thing I will say about her....she is one ride or die friend! ESPECIALLY back in that time period when it would be "frowned upon" for a rich white girl to be friends with a "common black girl". Of course her having the dad she has that saw a person's character instead of skin color helped IMMENSELY! O Two other things you can say about Lotti.....is that 1) she could NEVER be boring lol and 2) she strikes me as that friend who can ALWAYS put a smile on your face.
One thing I will say about Charlotte, she may be a bit much but she's genuinely a good friend. She never speaks down to Tiana or thinks of her as less then just because of her class or race. She supports her dreams and knows how hard she works giving her enough money for her restaurant, leaves the dance to help Tiana get cleaned and gives her a dress, gives up the chance at marrying a prince when she sees they're genuinely in love. She truly treats her best friend as an equal when back in this time it was a big deal for them just to be friends.

My favorite Disney princess movie by far!
This has now became an all time Disney classic matter of fact Tiana became Disney's the first black princess played by Anika noni Rose who is also known for her 2006 Role in Dreamgirls starring Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy And Jamie Foxx which y'all gotta check it out it is based off the 1981 Broadway show By the same name...
One of my favorite scenes, ironically, is when Tiana gets knocked into the desert table and ruins the beignets; and Charlotte, rather then throwing a tantrum, cares only about getting her friend cleaned up.
And Charlotte, who only wears pink, just happened to have a blue dress that just happened to fit Tiana perfectly. :)
