I think Evangeline was a firefly that passed away. As we all know when Ray passed he turned into a star and when Ray was first speaking about her he said “she was the prettiest firefly that ever did glow and I know someday we’ll be together”. I was today years old when I realized he probably fell in love and his lover died.😭

one of my favourite little details about this movie is that, originally, the restaurant was going to be called "tiana's place" but at the end, once she opens it up with naveen's help, she names it "tiana's palace." like it became more than just her and her dad's dream, it became her and naveen's
I always loved that Facilier and Odie are foils to eachother as well. Both use voodoo but Facilier tricks people by giving them what they want, as the song says 'get everything you want, but lost what you had' whereas Odie gives people what they need, even if it isnt necessarily what they want..or even realize what they need Also Ive seen this movie sooo many times since it came out, and i still cry over Ray every single time
Lottie is a really good friend for Tiana and the reason why Tiana never asked Lottie for money, cause her father always taught her to work hard for the things she wants to which is very true but there’s nothing wrong with asking for help. But overall Lottie is an amazing friend for Tiana. Sadly this was the last 2d animation movie Disney done.
Lottie's a great character and I feel like she serves as a pretty good example for the wealthier princess-obsessed girls that might watch the film :) Really is unfortunate that they don't do 2D movies anymore, the animation in those is so gorgeous and their final few 2D films, such as Princess and the Frog, Lilo and Stitch, etc. are peak Disney movies imo
Not only that, but at the end where he’s basically saying hey like if you kiss me, I and I’ll become a prince again we will get married but you must give the money to Tiana and she realises that her best friend is the one that found true love and she’s willing to kiss him but not marry
Lottie is such a good friend, shes spoiled yes, but that doesnt mean she isnt a good person!! Like in the ball shes all so lavished up looking gorgeous and dancing with "the prince" but the moment she saw Tiana in a bad situation she immediately attended her and gave her a whole new outfit for the party. The reason she never went out to pay the restaurant for Tiana was because she knows that Tiana is a hard worker and respects it. If Tiana however wouldve needed assistance we can all safely assume that Lottie and her father wouldve absolutely done it at her request right then and there. :)
as someone who lives and born in new orleans, im sooo happy you finally watched this movie. I cry everytime i see it!! BTW Tiana is inspired by Leah Chase, a New Orleans chef and civil rights advocate! She was like the real life Tiana!!
I'll point something out: Facillier didn’t lie to Navine. He did told him what he was about to do to him, but in a way so Navine heard what he wanted. He never mentioned the word money in all of what he told Navine.
Like Ursula in Little Mermaid Only, Ursula did Dr. F one better; she LITERALLY TELLS Ariel exactly what the contract is, no confusion over whether “green” means cash or amphibian. She lays it all out in such a way that Ariel can never complain of being tricked or misled. And yet she still pulls off a masterful manipulation.
I’ll never forgive Disney for what they did to my boy Ray!! At least I can find solace in the fact that him and Evangeline are together at last!!😭🩷 10/10 film. Tiana deserves a sequel! Check out my full reaction here: www.patreon.com/user?u=23309427

This is my favorite Disney princess movie because of everything you said. Tiana being an actual hard working realistic person and Naveen being quite a realistic depiction of spoiled rich boys. But I do love me a good character arc, especially when it stems from love. This movie is just so fantastic. Also, personally I believe Lottie didn't give Tiana money to help with her restaurant because either Tia told her no and she would work for it herself, or Lottie just knew and understand that Tia wouldn't accept it even if she had offered. I also sort of headcanon that Lottie used the beignets as an excuse to give Tiana money!
That's a good headcanon. Perhaps Lottie waited for the perfect moment for Tiana to do something for her so that she would feel like she earned the money and finally accept it.
@@lulystalgianature2968 yeah exactly! My thought process was exactly that. Lottie knows Tiana doesn't want hand outs. So her finding a reason to give Tiana money while still having Tiana feel like she earned it is personally I feel really in character.
I love Evangeline, because it’s a (possibly accidental) callback to The Lion King. When Simba, Timon and Pumba are talking about what stars are, Timon claims that they’re fireflies that got stuck in the sky. Paraphrasing, of course, but I love that Ray fell in love with his firefly star.
Lottie is the rich friend who doesn't know what the normal is. Her father spoiled her so she spent her life EXPECTING but Lottie can adapt to the world around her if she needed to.
Enchanted, Princess and the Frog, Brave, & Tangled all came out in the same Disney era (2006-2012ish). It was a great time to grow up as a tween-teen girl! To this day, I love those movies & remember how much they stood out!
Fireflies are actually beetles! Strangely it seems like no one calls them that though, it's either flies, or just bugs. You can tell if you look at one up close because of the opaque covers over their wings. All beetles have casing that close and protect their wings when they aren't flying!
40:28 after ray dies we see another star appear in the sky, Because of this people believe that it may have been possible that Evangeline was real and had passed away. Which makes their relationship all the more sad and sweet 🥲
There’s a popular theory that Tiana won’t accept help from Lottie, so Lottie and Big Daddy overpay for the work Tiana does for them. Think of the moment Lottie gives Tiana the beignet money. That’s probably a few weeks to a few months of Tiana’s combined salaries for one night’s work. They’re overpaying and Tiana is okay with that because it’s for work, not a gift or a loan
not enough people are talking about tiana in these comments. the beauty, the iconatry, and the fact that even after becoming a princess all she did was open the restaurant she’s always dreamed of. she literally became a chef/restaurant owner after achieving a literal title of princess and gaining access to money. morals are really unshakeable
THANK YOU! I love Lottie I do, but I can't help but feel weird when a western media piece with a mostly POC main cast exists and somehow yall find a way to always obsess over the one white person 😭😭 like with the new Mortal Kombat reboot, everyone being obsessed with Johnny Cage, the ONLY white person in the entire main cast. I don't hate either of these characters, I like them, but cmon yall be serious
@@LangkeeLongkeeIt’s because she’s not your stereotypical mean girl character. They gave her stand out differences. They’re best friends and their bond is so solid, that not even a guy, and a PRINCE at that broke them apart and made them compete/go against each other and be vindictive. Deal with it

This movie was (and still is) so special to me. I grew up in the southern US and had to face the racism and prejudices that came along with that. Tiana and her story served as a bit of hope for me. Seeing someone I related to so deeply push on and ultimately make her dreams a reality was really inspiring to me growing up. Then on a much lighter note, this movie was definitely apart of my bi awakening 😂. I mean come on just look at Tia and Naveen!!
Lottie is my fav because yes she's full of herself and I think its in a way that never hurts others, she's very supportive of others. She probably never gave Tiana the money before because Tiana probably didn't want it handed to her. She'd probably feel like she'd be using Lottie.
Lottie was a sheltered and care-free girl all of her life. But she is the truest kind of friend anyone could hope for... one that is happy to see you succeed above anything else. I don't think she gets enough acknowledgement. ♥️
She really doesn’t. And even when she does get acknowledgment from people do, the hardcore Tiana fans get all upset because the slightest bit of attention is taken away from their precious POC main character. Because they think a good movie (loved or not) is made without side or secondary characters
I love that this movie has more than one positive message. The first is the importance of hard work went comes to making your dreams a reality, the second is that even tho its important to work hard you still need to live your life. And i think the really important thing that Tiana doesn’t realize is that theres nothing wrong with accepting help from others. You pointed out that Lottie and big daddy shouldve given money to Tiana and honestly most fans theorize that they wanted to but knew Tiana wouldn't except it but Lottie saw hiring her as a caterer as a way of helping out. It seems to be something Tiana learns in this movie is being able to rely on others who care about her
Fun fact: Dr. Facilier's appearance and abilities were inspired by Voodoo Loa (demigods, basically) Papa Legba and Baron Samedi from West African/Haitian folklore

I can watch movies without crying but when I started watching Niall’s videos I can literally feel his emotions through the screen and it gets me teary eyed😭
Not gonna lie, this movie is one of my favourite Disney animated movies. Aside from the really cool villain with a backstory that can really be delve into (not to mention being voiced by one of my al time favourite voice actors ,,^^,,), this story has a very motivational and relatatable main character : Tiana. A young woman who was taught the importance of working hard in life in order to achieve your goals and dreams. Most disney princesses were either born into royalty, or were practically given a life of luxury, whereas she worked hard to achieve her goal of running her own restaurant, and that, though unexpected, finding love with someone she connected with happened along the way.
Lottie is a GIRLS GIRL! She would never force Tiana to accept her money and Tiana would only accept if she had to work for it. And yet she kept a dress sized for Tiana in her closet, likely at all times for emergencies ❤❤
24:33 I remember being 11 years old and seeing this with my younger brother asking myself the same question! “Friends on the Other Side“ had me shaking in my boots 😂😂 specifically the reprise at 38:00
I was 15 when I watched this for the first time and I cried so much with Ray cause he was so genuine and good. So happy everyone got what they deserved in the end. He was able to be with Evangeline for forever. Amazing movie !
I know it's been said before, but Tiana's one of Disney's most stunningly gorgeous princess designs and they just made her a frog for the biggest chunk of the movie.
Tangled and this one are my two favorite Disney moves. Both couples in the films seem to grow fond of each other through time. and not love each other at first sight like some Disney movies do. Plus the 'princes' in both of these are top tier with personalities. They grow into someone different and better over time which is awesome to see. You don't really see it that in Disney movies that much. They nailed it with this one and Tangled.
Not me crying away my face mask during this reaction🤧🤧😅 I was trying sO hard, but Ray being reunited with Evangeline made me sOb!! Ughhhh Thank you soooo much for reacting to this film!☺️ Tiana is an all time fav princess, I work part time as a Disney princess impersonator for kids (the black kr darker princesses.... So like four😅) and she's my fav princess to do, accent and alllll✨✨✨✨ And YES we NEED a sequel, pls Disney, stop giving sequels/live action remakes to films that came out less than 5yrs ago, for like ONE sec And give us The Princess and the Frog Hercules Take👏🏾 Me👏🏾 BACK👏🏾 DISNEY
This movie is so special to me! I grew up in New Orleans and let me tell you, I loved the way they portrayed it. Movies and shows set in New Orleans are always special to me. ❤ Plus it is a just a good modern classic Disney film!
I was 8 when I saw this movie for the first time in theaters, and Facilier’s death scared the absolute crap outta me . Nowadays it’s not too scary, but to 8 year old me? Nightmares
I like to think that Lottie and her dad did try to give Tiana money but she turned it down because she wanted to work hard and earn it like her dad taught her. They love her too much to not try to help her. I also think that's why Lottie asked Tiana to cater her party so she could have an excuse to throw money at her. To me that looked like too much money for catering during that time period so that's why I believe Lottie just wanted an excuse to give Tiana money.
Idk, everyone says this but I think lottie was just too self focused and scatterbrained to realise tia needed help unless it was obvious, and tiana too proud to ask.
I was in Tiana's place a few years ago. Just getting off one job full time job, and straight to another. It was hell, every bit of it. But you have to do what you can to make money, especially in New York 😭
AGHHHHHH I’m so glad you reacted to this! 🥹Princess and The Frog is my favorite disney movie ever since I was a little girl! I love all the characters and have even memorized most of the movie because of how much I watched it. Tiana inspired me to become hard working and but also strong and I always wanted to grow up to be just like her. I love watching your reactions and seeing this pop up just made me so happy! 😭😭 and ugh Naveen will always be fine as hell
I don't know about others, but I come to rewatch these movies with you because your vibe is magical and healthy. Like I never cry in real life but when I tear because you have tears it's healing lol Thank you :)
i love this movie! its one of my favourites. Charlotte and Tiana’s best friends are just iconic cause the movie was set where black individuals were segregated however lottie grew up with tiana as shes the complete opposite of her. Lottie lived a lavish life and got what she wanted. Tiana lived through hard work but they are still best friends and they appreciate the trust and love they have for one another.
38:03 this part always scared my older sister, but my five year old ass was sat! i think this is one of the reasons i liked horror/ scary things from a young age
Lottie was the best friend I'd love to have! Spoiled, but still there for her bestie and cares about her and her feelings. She could've been a jerk, but I loved her character, and goes to show that not all rich people (and blondes) are mean girls! Also this movie terrified me as an 8 year old when it came out but it's so iconic and miss Disney sticking to darker themes ngl but this movie is one of their best!
I think this film's most important message is not the value of hard work. It's work/life balance. James tells Tiana at the very beginning that she needs both the star and hard work to make her dreams come true. She also needs love. By the time we see adult Tiana, she's forgotten both those things. She believes she's honoring her dad's memory by working hard just like he did, but unfortunately, she's only hurting herself by working with no rest and no help from others. She realizes that by the end and only after that, finally achieves her dreams with help, hard work, and love.
This movie is so close to my heart. It’s a big love letter to Louisiana culture and it’s amazing. My dad grew up there and his whole side of the family has been there since before the Louisiana Purchase, so I had as Cajun an upbringing as you can get in the mid-Atlantic. Hearing the accents, listening to the music, and thinking of all the foods I grew up on make me feel so warm inside. I even choreographed a dance to Almost There for my final dance recital :)
I was feeling anxious and this reaction really picked me up, thank you!! Love your humour. Princess and the Frog is in my top disney movies so I love that you loved it! 🐸💕🐸
Movies you’d like: Hook (not animated but it has Robin Williams and he’s practically a cartoon- though it’s Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins that steal every scene) A Goofy Movie (father son teenage angst with a soundtrack you’ll be singing the rest of your life) An American Tail (you’ll cry for “somewhere out there” and love it to pieces) Oliver and Company (just look at the music greats that helped make it rock) George of the Jungle (Brenden Frasier will be complete eye candy and you’ll love the message based on an old cartoon but is not animated but you’ll feel like it is and learn new techniques to woo your man!)
Fun Fact! American Alligators are distributed across several states in the Southeastern US, from eastern Texas to North Carolina, but the US population of American Crocodiles is restricted to only the very southern end of Florida, which is the only place in the world where you can see wild gators and crocs living together. As we all know when Ray passed he turned into a star and when Ray was first speaking about her he said “she was the prettiest firefly that ever did glow and I know someday we’ll be together”. I was today years old when I realized he probably fell in love and his lover died.😭
Then when he dies they join together in the sky.
Naveen and Flynn Rider are literally peak Disney princes! I love them so much❤ wonderful reaction as always! Thank you for watching! I love this movie, Tiana is one of my favorites!!💕🥰
Tiana, naveen, rapunzel, Flynn rider cross over would be insane
Fun fact! Idk if niall knew this, but dr. Facilier is voiced by that same person who voices husk in hazbin hotel! (I think lol)
YESSSS!! Someone on my Patreon informed me! So cool
Interesting how he's involved with Voodoo in both roles?
He's also the cat in Coraline:)
Keith David the King
@@ChezaWRI just really like the card symbolism parallels in both characters, and the gambler motifs. Husker is a bit like if Dr. Facilier was given a TV14 rating instead of rated PG.
OKAY BUT I NEED TO SAY THIS I think the scene where Naveen stops Louis ruining Rays love with Evangeline IS SO IMPORTANT it's one of the first scenes Naveen does something completely selfless for someone else's happiness and IT MAKES ME CRY OKAY

The CACKLE I just let out, as a American, scared my cat right off his spot napping on my chest 😂😂
one of my favourite little details about this movie is that, originally, the restaurant was going to be called "tiana's place" but at the end, once she opens it up with naveen's help, she names it "tiana's palace." like it became more than just her and her dad's dream, it became her and naveen's
I always loved that Facilier and Odie are foils to eachother as well. Both use voodoo but Facilier tricks people by giving them what they want, as the song says 'get everything you want, but lost what you had' whereas Odie gives people what they need, even if it isnt necessarily what they want..or even realize what they need
Also Ive seen this movie sooo many times since it came out, and i still cry over Ray every single time
Two sides of the same coin, Ying and Yang, Voodoo and Hoodoo. I always like these kinds of direct contrasts, they hold such clever and deep meanings.
They, he feeds off of what they think they want she shows them what they really want
Lottie's a great character and I feel like she serves as a pretty good example for the wealthier princess-obsessed girls that might watch the film :)
Really is unfortunate that they don't do 2D movies anymore, the animation in those is so gorgeous and their final few 2D films, such as Princess and the Frog, Lilo and Stitch, etc. are peak Disney movies imo
Not only that, but at the end where he’s basically saying hey like if you kiss me, I and I’ll become a prince again we will get married but you must give the money to Tiana and she realises that her best friend is the one that found true love and she’s willing to kiss him but not marry
Winnie the Pooh (2011) was the last 2D Disney movie.
Niall talking about ray dying: “he was a main character, I’ve never seen them do something like that!”
Mufasa in the corner: 👁️👄👁️
LMAO! Enough 😭
19:45 "it IS America, isn't it?" Gagged me 😂
Lottie is such a good friend, shes spoiled yes, but that doesnt mean she isnt a good person!!
OOOO, I didn't know that!
@@suesaul4727 yess!! It's an amazing story
Absolutely love me some Princess and the frog, and Tiana is just so stunning (she's my first cartoon crush lol)😍😍🤎
Oh, she's gorgeous!! Had me feeling my bi side for a second!!😧
Esmeralda from Disney's Hunchback was mine, long time ago... Ahah-
I'll point something out: Facillier didn’t lie to Navine. He did told him what he was about to do to him, but in a way so Navine heard what he wanted. He never mentioned the word money in all of what he told Navine.
Like Ursula in Little Mermaid
Only, Ursula did Dr. F one better; she LITERALLY TELLS Ariel exactly what the contract is, no confusion over whether “green” means cash or amphibian. She lays it all out in such a way that Ariel can never complain of being tricked or misled.
And yet she still pulls off a masterful manipulation.
"I've only just met em' and he's dead?!" my thoughts exactly Niall.
I’ll never forgive Disney for what they did to my boy Ray!! At least I can find solace in the fact that him and Evangeline are together at last!!😭🩷
10/10 film. Tiana deserves a sequel! Check out my full reaction here: www.patreon.com/user?u=23309427
Charlotte prrbably did offer, but Tiana would have said NO because of what her daddy told her.
Also there is a sequel coming out.
I use her offer at the end of the movie as evidence of her willingness to try and give Tiana anything she wants because shes her best friend.

Get me the hell out of this Gilead. My handmaid's tale costume for Halloween, I might actually need it to need it for real the next month after the holiday
All that said, how Is it that you've reacted to the hazbin hotel, without also reacting to helluva boss???
The show takes place in the same universe, the hellaverse. And I personally think to the theory that the events in that show take place before hazbin, that Charlie's probably toddlering off somewhere.
And, ITS FREE, here on TH-cam

Her father spoiled her so she spent her life EXPECTING but Lottie can adapt to the world around her if she needed to.
everyone wake up nial found another perfect movie to see for the first time
Enchanted, Princess and the Frog, Brave, & Tangled all came out in the same Disney era (2006-2012ish).
Apparently, another name for them is lightning bugs
Yeah, I can them fireflies, some ppl call them lightning bugs. They definitely do look like beetles tho
What I don’t understand is why you people get mad when non POC side characters get the slightest bit of attention, you think it destroys the immersiveness or whatever or ruins/takes away from the main character. Newsflash!! Tiana and Charlotte are a package deal. They’re best friends and their bond is so solid, that not even a guy, and a PRINCE at that broke them apart and made them compete/go against each other and be vindictive. Deal with it
@@KashiKay the point is in a different state, take a plane back you just missed her.
@@LangkeeLongkee No thanks. That state’s infected and completely biased. 😘🖕🏾
@@LangkeeLongkee You don’t love or like ANY of those aforementioned characters if all you do is f*cking complain when they get love or attention. So you be serious and stop outright lying lmfaoo
Facilier's appearance and abilities were inspired by Voodoo Loa (demigods, basically) Papa Legba and Baron Samedi from West African/Haitian folklore
the cuteness aggression at 29:00 is so absolutely it omggg i have always loved this movie ever since i first saw it with my family, ive watched it so many times i basically repeat the lines and watch the movie in my headdddd ughhhhh such a perfect animated film it will always be so special to me
This is my absolute favorite movie. Tiana was my favorite princess when I was little because she was one of the few princesses of color and she just slays. So glad you loved it too
I can watch movies without crying but when I started watching Niall’s videos I can literally feel his emotions through the screen and it gets me teary eyed😭
at least we are teary eyed together
Friends on the other side is such a cool song, the creativity of the animation is just amazing and it’s also such a bop! Ps sung by Keith David

This move is SO UNDERRATED and it’s one of my favorites that Disney ever made! I’m so glad to see you loving it!
Not me crying away my face mask during this reaction🤧🤧😅
I was trying sO hard, but Ray being reunited with Evangeline made me sOb!! Ughhhh Thank you soooo much for reacting to this film!☺️
Tiana is an all time fav princess, I work part time as a Disney princess impersonator for kids (the black kr darker princesses.... So like four😅) and she's my fav princess to do, accent and alllll✨✨✨✨

Nightmares
It’s crazy to me I was so young 😭
I like to think that Lottie and her dad did try to give Tiana money but she turned it down because she wanted to work hard and earn it like her dad taught her. They love her too much to not try to help her. I also think that's why Lottie asked Tiana to cater her party so she could have an excuse to throw money at her. To me that looked like too much money for catering during that time period so that's why I believe Lottie just wanted an excuse to give Tiana money.
yeah fs, Tiana wasnt the type to take what she wouldve perceived as "hand-outs", her dad said hard work it what mattered and she took it to heart
Idk, everyone says this but I think lottie was just too self focused and scatterbrained to realise tia needed help unless it was obvious, and tiana too proud to ask.

Omg gumbo is so good! The key to making good gumbo is obviously seasoning but most importantly, a dark roux

"It is America, isn't it" lol 😂 i felt that deeply
One of my biggest flex is that I got to play Lottie in my highschools rendition of this movie!!!!

This movie introduced many people to cajun cooking. It's totally worth trying. I've loved cajun all my life; especially gumbo.
One of my favorite films, I’m so happy you decided to react to this. I’ve always found their romance to be so cute and natural
I was feeling anxious and this reaction really picked me up, thank you!! Love your humour. Princess and the Frog is in my top disney movies so I love that you loved it! 🐸💕🐸
When she said she “waiting this long” she meant like she waited this long to finally dance with an prince even if that prince is like 6 lol
Dr. Facilier will forever be my favorite Disney villain
Movies you’d like:
Hook (not animated but it has Robin Williams and he’s practically a cartoon- though it’s Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins that steal every scene)
A Goofy Movie (father son teenage angst with a soundtrack you’ll be singing the rest of your life)
An American Tail (you’ll cry for “somewhere out there” and love it to pieces)
Oliver and Company (just look at the music greats that helped make it rock)
George of the Jungle (Brenden Frasier will be complete eye candy and you’ll love the message based on an old cartoon but is not animated but you’ll feel like it is and learn new techniques to woo your man!)
she was mt fav growing up because she worked hard and most people assume its because my name is tiana
Truly one of Disney's best films, hands down.
Fun Fact! American Alligators are distributed across several states in the Southeastern US, from eastern Texas to North Carolina, but the US population of American Crocodiles is restricted to only the very southern end of Florida, which is the only place in the world where you can see wild gators and crocs living together.
