It’s week three of our drink and drug drive campaign, and we’re releasing further bodycam footage of drivers found behind the wheel and under the influence of alcohol.
Overturned vehicles, children in the back seat, collisions narrowly avoiding pedestrians, and… “I feel alright though.”
Whether it’s one pint, two pints or more, here’s what happens when it all goes wrong.
    Start listening, life is precious.

A long outstanding problem with the Law on Drink Driving is that there is a permissable level based around 2 pints of Beer, it was set in the 1960's in order to start the change towards stopping drink driving and has not changed since. The level is high enough to give a false sense to drivers that they can have a pint or two and still drive.
It is long past the time to reduce that limit to near zero, to clearly signal that drinking alcohol and driving should never mix. (Zero would not actually be fair for various reasons due to the way the body works)

@@seamusoflatcap I agree, I probably would have been under the limit. However, I've always been of the opinion that it's an either/or situation IE: that don't drink - good to drive, drink - don't drive. As an aside, I passed my driving test at 18, but never touched alcohol until I was 25, so I've had my license longer than I've drank.

And the girl who said I am only 11 points over ,as if it's nothing. They way they act like it's no big deal is so annoying. Both my grandparents were killed by a drunk driver so I know what I am talking about. The limit should be 0% . Do not drink and drive simple.🙏

    • @nikmachen6561

True that. I moved to Scotland 10 years ago and the limit here is so low that it isn't even worth having a shandy. To be honest, it isn't even tempting because it's so cut and dry. In England over Christmas, I had half a shandy (hopefully that was the lemonade part) with dinner before driving a short distance home. It was fine and I'm sure I'd have blown under, but I wouldn't have done it in Scotland. The limit in England - and everywhere else - should be in line with Scotland's to reduce temptation. I would say absolute 0, but then everyone who drinks has driven the next day and had that element of doubt at first. Illegal drugs on the other hand should be an automatic ban.
