Thanks for the reply Randy. The pads actually had lots of life in them but the discs were rusty and very grooved but never mind, new sensors are not expensive

    Hey Randy,
thanks for sharing! This gives me a good starting point to change my own brake pads 👍

Great helpful video but as you didnt have brake sensors fitted, i didnt know to remove them from the pads first. So they got broken and i now need to buy new ones!

Whoops! Sorry I didn't think to mention about it! However, if it makes you feel any better, I believe it's usually recommended to replace them each time anyways. And especially if you replaced your pads because the sensor light came on.
The light comes on when the pad sensor wears against the rotor and causes it to open the electrical loop. In which case the sensor's electrical loop is permanently open and you would need a new sensor. I simply bought cheap ones on Amazon since it's just a wire encased in some sort of plastic - nothing that any aftermarket company can't easily make.

Thank you, very informative and straight forward. Will be tackling this (front pads only) and brake fluid flush soon. Also do I need to change the brake pad sensors ? Cheers, subscribed.

Hey sorry I didn't respond any sooner! I believe BMW recommends you replace sensors each time, but I'd think as long as they're intact and not worn by the rotor you should be fine to re-use them. If your brake pad light came on then it means the pads wore down enough to wear into the sensors and you'll need new sensors.
That is, if you want the sensors to work :) I've actually cut mine short and spliced the wires together so I don't have a brake pad light but they also don't tell me if the pads are low now since they're not hooked up. I change my pads several times a year (before and after each track event) so I don't really need the sensors.

Guide pins have no grease cuz they dry😢

BMW tells you not to grease the pins for the e92 m3.
