    I have used this plenty. My buddy left it over and I became attached to it. When he wanted it back I was kinda depressed about giving it back. I have a 6505 half stack with a nice pedal board so I know what a good amp sounds like. This thing is cheap and can do it all. Perfect for portability and convenience when you want to leave your big expensive stuff at home. Infact you could use this with a small amp and mic it up for a great sound at a gig. The key thing to remember is too much gain is a problem when playing with other musicians. Especially drums and if your amp is small. So practice dialing in your sounds with less gain and less treble and plenty of mids. This approach will get way more out of a small amp and help you hear your amp with the band. Always remember not to invest your ego in expensive gear. Cheap gear including guitars and amps can sound great when dialed in properly, and expensive gear can sound like crap if not setup right.

    Looks good for a beginner wanting to get into the world of effects, without having to spend lots of money on different pedals

  • @MarciaDVL
    @MarciaDVL 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Forget the drums on it; but this pedal, when used with a perfectly set-up guitar and the strings that you love and an decent quality amp, will produce more than what it is criticized for. I used many effects and managed to feel the sweet spot for them all. There is no reason why this unit couldn't be used properly too. Learn it to death and the magic will come. It is simple enough to master after a short while. Main suggestion: Play a lot with it!
    Or, just try it a bit and trash it with critics and yes, you wasted the little bit of money spend on this.
    I recorded songs and tracks for people using 'cheap ass units/effects' among the others; and none of those people came back to me to complain about it. I never heard that what I have produced was 'cheap' sounding. So, I believe that anyone who gets this can make it "sing".
    And I wouldn't discourage any beginners to feel like they are buying a crappy unit when they have there, laid simply, a lot to venture into and a lot to help them create the sound that will please their ears with their compositions.
    Or even, come to some that feel close to a sound they like for playing a cover.
    59! Hell, you get a lot for this price!
    Enjoy!

    My rhyrhm guitarist has one of these and I absolutely hate it, the one redeeming thing about it is that the drum backing track actually stays in time unlike our drummer.

    To be very honest, these multi effects pedals always were pretty good in combination with a good combo.
    The only problem always is that you get overwhelmed by all the options, buttons and possibilities, which results in not having any real inspiration because you just keep fiddling around.

  • @andyraven

    Not bad for the price. I'm like Rob I have a soft spot for digitech. I had a RP55 YEARS ago that did me well.... Apart from the buttons breaking (pushed in). It also really helped me in my early years of playing with tuning and finding a sound I liked with my dads old Peavey Bandit 112 solo series.

    Just wanted to say thanks for this video. Started playing guitar a few months ago and I have been looking at pedals. Had been kinda put off on the prices of pedals because not sure what I want. This however seems perfect. It's not expensive and will let me play around with different pedals without shelling out the cash.

  • @jackclements1356

    Idea for a video:
    Which brand has the best 'all round pedal board'
    You take a board of the essential pedal types (i.e. drive/distortion, delay, chorus, fuzz, flange, etc.) from one brand and compare how that set of 5/6 pedals sound with another. For example, will a board full of MXR pedals sound better than a board full of TC Electronic pedals?
    Find who has the best sounding board, best value for money board, most functional board and the most diverse sounding board.

    Honestly, I'm 40 and can't really claim to be a beginner anymore, but I am just really starting with pedals. I have a looper and a tuner and not much else in the way of pedals. This thing would be an extremely fun little toy, no matter your experience level, in my opinion.

      I am in the same situation as yourself so took the plunge for the price - just the drums filling in alone when our drummer couldn't make it to a rehearsal was worth the money. It's a great little toy and actually works really well in a home studio environment. I'd say I've had so much fun with it that I'd have paid double happily.

    Well done gentlemen. I am a harmonica player, and I love this little box. The sounds I can get wailing into a dynamic mic plugged into this little box are fantastic. And pipe some backing tracks through the AUX port, and turn on the drums, and I can have a blast. Running it out to my JamMan or RC-30 looper pedal, and I am good to go. I enjoy the visual pedal layout on the display panel. Gives us amateur pedal board nubes a visual reference similar to a real pedal board layout. Better I think that just knobs with numbers that you get with most multi effects controllers. Thanks again guys. Appreciate you sharing your time and knowledge with us. Stay safe.

    I have an Element, no expression pedal, and I gotta say that for the current price, it's pretty decent. However, the cab sim is not something to die for. Works if you have no amp, but nothing stellar. You can turn on the cab sim even for the main output if you keep the Tone button pressed when starting the unit. The Blackface amp model takes high gain pedals well. I've put a Behringer UM-300 in front of it and it was decent.

    It doesn't sound good but it serves a purpose. These types of inexpensive multieffect units are perfect for new guitar players who are trying to figure out what effects they would actually use and need without buying expensive pedals. Some effects you might enjoy goofing around with but never actually use, this will scratch that itch without costing you money.
    Buy one of these, experiment and when you decide what effects you like, upgrade to a suitable version. Once you've accumulated a few of your favorite effects, use this as a tuner or as your practice pedal board or even better pass it along to a another new guitarist you know.

    Digital multi-effects boards are the window to boutiques, baby! I'm so grateful to my (relatively) cheap pedalboard I bought over a decade ago for giving me a crash course in the possibilities of effects and amp emulation. I find that little units like this and the zooms are really good for weird guitar tones. I never liked these for getting bluesy/rock sounds but there will always be some nasty digital drive and a really odd kinda modulation effect to destroy the tone in a nice kinda way.
    That being said the chorus sounded pretty nice and the old zoom one (that I do still have) does a good job of the whammy thing.

    Had a GNX3 several years ago. Pre-installed patches were horrible (all high gain) but if you spent the time to dig into the programming mode you could get some really decent tones. In addition you could download a vast number of user created models and patches from the website. It was built like a tank too. One useful little trick was the fact that you could save all your presets to your computer, swap the firmware and you'd have the bass version (BNX3).

    I own an Element (without the expression pedal) and still using it as backup, in case I have issues with my tube amp and analog pedals. In its price range it's the best multifx I've heard so far. I come from the era (late '90-early 2000) when people used to buy shitty Zoom 505 or low-spec Boss and at that time I bought a Digitech RP80, because I felt it was superior in several aspects. In the following years I owned a Zoom G2 and G9 for few years (I was playing in a cover band and I needed more versatility and a lot of modulations), but still I felt they weren't good enough like these Digitech.

    So, I’ve got an older RP70 and I think they’re missing a HUGE part of these pedals. It’s a baby Kemper!!! I’ve had plenty of sound guys who don’t want an amp on stage, and these guys have a setting where they’ll cab sim and plug straight into a mixing board and sound top-notch. The amp sims also take pedals really really well, so you can put it behind your other pedals (provided you have an isolated power supply) and sound great straight into a mixing board. Digitech has made an AWESOME little machine, and this one fixed the crappy buttons they put on the old models, so it’s flawless now.

    would this work with my katana? Ive been looking into getting my first pedal and id love this one since it has an expression pedal and is cheap

  • @Rockerrobin
    @Rockerrobin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My first pedal was the degitech rp55 it was cheap as hell and sounded like ass but it was still worth getting to get a bassline on what cheap will give you. I still use the drum mechine from time to time probably the most useful feature. I have also owned the boss me 25. Multieffects are good to grab cheap at the start of your guitar playing adventure to give you a taste of all the available effects sounds at a budget price.

      it's really not, i own it and i own the Harley benton sg that was 2 times cheaper at 175 bucks and it's so much better..

      @DagurRunolfsson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well i guess it's personal choise. I have tried lots of Harley Bentons and have not been satisfied with any of them, but i also want the feel of the Gibson SG.

      Dagur Runolfsson I have the SG too, and I'm super happy with it! I think it's the only Gibson guitar I haven't had to do any adjustments too at all. It was pretty much perfect from the factory.

    Which small affordable Multi Fx pedal is the best and easiest to use? Digitech, Jaya, or Boss GT 1. I mainly only need Chorus Delay, and flange and phase and really I mainly want chorus and delay and Maybe overdrive in one pedal maybe phase or flange also.

    £59 isn't bad for something like this, but I feel like the NUX MG-100 is better value, especially as it includes a looper. I'm not sure Andertons stock NUX gear, though. But maybe they should :)

    • @fritsvanzanten3573
      @fritsvanzanten3573 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I read some reviews of NUX; good, but quite often not working on arrival.

    • @zoomosis
      @zoomosis 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had that experience with my NUX pedals personally (and I own several), but it's always worth buying from a shop where you can return the item if necessary. :)

    • @rickeyryan303
      @rickeyryan303 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zoom all the way, they make the best Multi effects pedals in my opinion.. My G1xn is still on my board which i have pedals that coast 500 bucks on it and i still use that Zoom at gigs..

    • @zoomosis
      @zoomosis 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Zoom G1XN is getting a bit hard to find these days. The G1Xon might be similar but to me it just looks cheap. I own a Zoom MS-50G which has been fantastic, especially for the number of effects it emulates, but it's still missing a bunch of features provided by the NUX MG-100 (eg. looper, expression pedal, headphone jack). The NUX is also much quicker and easier to program.

    I keep one in my gear bag. It's great for a backup if everything else goes down. It's also good for guest/opener spots when you want to set up quickly and tear down quickly.
    In those situations, I put it after my other pedals and just use the amp simulator. It makes the sound guys happy.

    How do I wire it properly? Manual says front input only, but I want to use it on the fx loop so I can use the Drive channel on the amp. Problem is it sounds too quiet and also is very noisy, hissy... Any advice?

    Could someone make a video and show exactly how to model a preset(s) for playing Mark Knopfler 's songs (like "You and your friend"etc..). This would be a great help for amateurs (like me) trying to make use of this device. Thanks!

    Lee -- did it take hours to read/understand the manual? My first ebay purchase was for a RP350. The user interface for it is brutal (vs., say, Boss ME30 - knobs!). In contrast, I have a simple to use Whammy xp100 -- sounds great, and easy to use!

    October 2, 2018: Can I adjust each effect, such as having a fast and tight Delay, which is hardly heard, and then a very low volume on Reverb, and then Compression. I have heard this will give my Telecaster great TWANG
