I bought one of these for using in the garage. In a Midwest 2 door garage, with the door raised a small crack for proper air circulation, it raised the temperature 26 degrees overall. I used a portable thermometer and a digital one to confirm the change in temperature. I also have a carbon monoxide detector plugged in at all times when using this just in case. The detector never went above 0. It won't heat the garage up to t-shirt temp, but it definitely helps take the cold bite out of the air. I'm very happy with this little unit.
Ryobi made an 18v ac unit. It used ice inside a cooler to blow cold air out the vents. Might be discontinued now though. Not to be confused with the new 18v refrigerated cooler.
I have the Ridgid version of this I have had it for about 5 years... it works great... sucks up some propane on high... but on low, in the garage, it will keep it warm enough to do some work... you do have to clean the sparker every now and again but other than that it's been great... And if you don't have batteries you can use an extension cord... nice option
Yes, the option to use a cord is a good one. But the battery offers the ability to use it outside without a cord, which is nice too. Thanks for the input.
Great timing, it’s getting cold here in Utah and my current propane heater is on its last leg. I’ve been looking as forced air heaters and have so many Ryobi tools this is perfect 👍🏼
I remember the big freeze that killed off most of the orange gives around Clermont. They had bonfire and shuffle pits burning everywhere but lost most of the trees to freezing. We were visiting family in the area and when we got back to Gainesville our commode was frozen solid. Sorry, but that's cold.
I almost just bought the Mr Heater 30-60k BTU before I saw this video review. This seems to fit me better as there is no extension cord needed to operate the fan inside the heater. Most other heaters I looked at need that extension cord. Now I got to go find one in stock. thanks

Does anyone know why Ridgid stopped making their hybrid heater and how come Ryobi now makes it for themselves ? Do they now own some of Ridgids old tool designs? I am aware of TTI and the relationships between the brands but to me it seems like Ridgid had to give up some of their designs when TTI filed that suit. Ridgid had a huge issue with the thermocouples a while back. Even though they fixed it all the reviews were fairly and overly negative. My guess is they never were able to regain the market and sold the design to ryobi
I wouldn't use it inside your 5th wheel. Outdoors you should be fine. There's an open flame inside that tube. Watch out for carbon monoxide too. Thanks for watching.

Great new item, one that every garage can use. I have the big old Kerosene unit. She will definitely put out the heat but is a bit of a pain dealing with the fuel and all. I wonder how this propane unit compares to a Kerosene unit as far as cost to run. Thanks for another great video brother.
I would not try to run this indoors...I have a carbon monoxide detector in my garage and this has never set it off but it is an open flame.. I wouldn't try to run this inside a house for that reason...not because of NOx fumes
We bought one and used it twice and then it stopped igniting. It was less than two weeks after we got it. Returned it to the store and got a replacement. Yesterday out of the box it will not ignite!! So frustrating! They must have a bad batch of these out there.

Wow this is essentially *identical* to the Ridgid unit (R860424B), except it takes ONE+ batteries and is green. Exact same look/frame, plastic, controls, etc. The Ridgid is specifically using a brushless [fan] motor though this one never mentions that, so it's possible they used a cheaper fan/motor. Ridgid runs "up to 7hrs" on a 4Ah battery but Ryobi doesn't mention runtime for the fan. In any event this is way better than the previous Ryobi model at like 4x the heat output (though likely 4x the propane consumption too).
Ryobi, Rigid, and Milwaukee are all the same company, the company is called TTI. Essentially Milwaukee is their flagship brand, then the patents, old components and so forth go into the construction of Rigid and Ryobi. More less what you're getting is Rigid, it's the same parent company like I said, so it would make sense it's very identical, sort of like an Acura and a Honda,...the Acura is typically a little nicer, built a little better, but the guts are still Honda, same principle applies here.

Does this ryobi unit fan really loud? Since I had other brand like dyna glo pro and so, they’re really loud and I can smell the propane tank so probably have to run it w/ the garage open.
These types are heaters are inherently louder than just a space heater. This RYOBI is not abnoxiously loud, but you can definitely hear it. You don't really smell the propane, it seems to burn very clean. Thanks for watching.
Tbh the 60s are t shirt temp to me, and 75+ is KILL ME PLEASE weather. I just adapted different. 50s to me is brisk. 40s cold. Anything below starts feeling the same until -20. I love the bi polar weather though! I remember so many times we had a 30 degree day, next day was 80. God knows why this is the case. No wonder the natives studied weather.
I cant stand the Ryobi green. I know some people like it, but its the first thing I think about whenever I see one of their products. It can make them look like kids toys. Lol I would love it if the reversed the colors, switch the green and the black, I think that would look awesome…. Nice heater though.Lol
@@Wrencheasy Agree. Probably _shouldn't_ run it inside anyways, _but if you're going to do it anyways_ at least be as safe as you can. Ventilation to the outdoors and carbon monoxide detector are a must. Remember, carbon monoxide kills you without you even knowing it. Be safe.

Good reviews but you really need to be a little more safety oriented!. You attach the hose to the tank and finger tight the fitting Next time show you tightening with a wrench
I have the Dewalt version of this. They work well but just remember it's expensive to run. On high you will go through $20 of propane in under a workday (under 7 hours).
They claim 12-hours per 20-lb cylinder, and that's probably on Low, so you're probably right. That's the price of being warm. lol. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I use mine for drywall remodels but you should have your windows cracked open and doors for ventilation. otherwise, you can get really bad headaches or even get poison. Just be aware if start getting a headache, turn it off very important

Agreed, that color is awful. The Tool are OK for the money but....
I have a older Ryobi 10" compound miter saw that is blue, much better color.
In the last test color had no impact on tool performance.

Yes, that is correct. It continues to spark a few seconds after igniting, but then it shuts off.
