  • When Ryobi first released their battery chainsaws, I jumped on very quickly and was impressed with that chainsaws power for its size. However, my needs of slowly changed over the years and I need something a little ball bit more compact as I have less room to devote to a chainsaw, so when I saw this pruning saw which was one-handed operation, I was very excited about it. I’ve watched a lot of other TH-camrs and it got me over the edge to Byatt. The other reason was I have Ryobi electric pole saw and I was very impressed with what a little blade and 18 V battery could do so I hope that was replicated in Nassau. Overall as a sort of use around the campsite or to do some light pruning at home I think this is a fantastic investment if you already have Ryobi batteries and skins, maybe if you have another brand you should look at there’s

I have this one and a different 6” model that requires both hands to operate. This one is so much better and I use it ALL the time!! I just lived through Hurricane Milton and took down a 15’ Carolina Cherry Laurel tree in minutes. Also used it to chop up other fallen branches. It’s on my top 5 Ryobi tool list!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have one and it’s amazing, and I’m trimming my sucker branches tomorrow morning. It’s a good tool and I’m just a normal guy just like you. Gregg

I would lube up the chain after each session just to keep it from rust. That's my only complaint. Saves me from lugging around my bigger saw.

I’ve had bigger ryobi saws with oil tanks and I find they dont meter the oil well. Or leak while stored, I suppose at least this way I know I have to lube it?

Doesn’t the directions say it’s oil free design? Do I need to use oil?

@@marciar8909 it’s a good idea to keep the chain lubed to slow down the effects of corrosion when it’s stored, particularly if it’s stored in a shed with no insulation. At certain times of the year, you might get a small amount of condensation. A small tube of oil with an applicator should be enough.

Saw (no pun intended) another unboxing vid of a ryobi mini and it failed after about 5 minutes of light use trimming back a few rose bushes and a couple of 1-2" branches. Battery still had 4 bars. He changed the battery out, nothing. Waited for a while, still nothing. What is it with this tech?

I think quality control is the major stumbling block, if you test everything it costs a lot so the warranty swaps are super easy as they expect some to fail and that works out cheaper for a big manufacturer
