according to staff that I talked to during the debut, the reason why the c851e interior is the same as the c751c is because that was the design Alstom submitted for LTA to approve, and since LTA approved it, they went along and built it
that makes sense, since the refurb c751a wasnt done by alstom
@sbs2828s Alstom C751A Trains were refurbished made by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen at Sengkang Depot.
To be honest I am very happy that they retain the original design as no corner seats are removed and no seats are replaced with foldable seats or perched seats. It is one of the last new generation trains that obtain the original design which is obviously better. I want more seats not more standing space.
Second train model to debut within two months this year after the R151, with each model having their own features. Basically, this model is the NEL version to the C151C as somewhat of a 'backup' model of their predessors but except this model does not have foldable seats which is 'good' and it it a supporting model for the new extensions of the line
Visible confusion for the interior, the C851Es for NEL are ironically the same picture as the C751Cs, but the main obvious difference is its purple livery in the new train's exterior.
Door platform plate have the Alstom name removed for 851E, Different extinguisher cover are some of the difference. DRMD was later considered but order has been placed. Rest of the differences are more for the depot crew 😊

The 851 is different and does not include the modifications of the refurbishment of the 751A because, even if they were built between 2021 and 2022, the concept chosen during the purchase dates from 2017. The refurbishment contract must date from 2020-2021 .
So the train was fixed in 2017 with all its particularities. To change something (LCD screens for example) is to change the contract because, we change the price, etc .....
The similarity to the C751C is probably due to cutting costs, as using common blueprints and parts would reduce the ideation and production costs of the 851Es

Basically, I would call 25 C751A as ‘Classic’ while the 18 C751C + 6 C851E (24 C751C) as ‘modern’ trains
