- Skateboarding at 44 years old... I went out to work on my ollie, but ended up weirded out. Also had a go a slapping up the jersey barrier.
I genuinely didn't try and film that guy. He just kept following me around.

Been watching your channel a lot lately, getting back into skating after a couple of years with substance stuff and mental health but it’s really been helping and I’ve fallen in love with it all over again, love these videos because it feels like I’m learning along after I come back from a session. You’re doing great mate and it’s cool watching you improve!

Hey, somehow it's the first time I've seen this channel. Yeah, SB can be a magnet for some very strange types during both quieter and busier times. Some of the weirder locals have disappeared recently (e.g Hannah, the woman with the trolley and rollerblades who writes absolute nightmare fuel on top of the graffiti) but new ones always come in and take their place...
I know you might feel shy to come when it's busier but it's def worth it just for the peace of mind you're not alone and the energy is more peak with people around. I'll say hello if I see you there.

Well done mate, same issues here with rolling ollies, need to jump higher and lift back leg.... i can do them nice still but rolling... a week ago kissed pavement trying to jump onto it, after few successfull events, surprised you have had a SB for yourself, ususally its packed as hell...

Fair play for sticking that session out. I don't know how I'd have coped with that guy following me around I'm self conscious enough as it is!

Love this. I'm often down southbank early on rainy Saturday/Sunday mornings to try and learn stuff before it gets busy, it's really good fun! The barrier wallride is a great one. I found the key is to put a lot of weight into your wheels and really lean into it once you're up to keep the board pinned and to stop yourself sliding down. It's much trickier to skate than it looks.
seeing people ride it halfway up like a quarter-pipe is nuts. I wanna get to the higher section soon. probably wouldn't want to try if it was busy though.

Trust the process and it will come I promise you that! Those Nikes 👌 and you dealt with that dude really well. I would have found it hard not to say something to him or just leave. Keep em coming. That wall ride was lovely… great bit of training for a slappy on a curb? They’re really hard… tried one the other day!

@@Ungracefulmovement forgot to say… the nut thing has just happened to me! Think it’s because the nut and axle thread has gone a little! Bit annoying had to re thread my thunders to get my new wheels on. Absolute ball ache 😂
Ollies coming on well. Technique is ok just need to jump a bit more, they get easier with the height .
I first skated south bank in 1988 😬 seen it change a lot.

Just in the time since I last skated there it has changed. Can’t imagine in 35 years. Thanks for watching. 👀 The Ollie comes and goes.

Somewhere on film I have an Ollie up the 2 steps to noseslide the white hubba
you need new axle nuts brother, the nylon bit gets worn out over time and it will either start to bind the wheel, or fall off while you're skating.
Swapped them out after the session, but still they turn by hand. Rather not have to spend on new truck(s), so I’m wondering about using locktite
Na mate, the axle is moving in the truck. If it locks the wheel when you tighten it . Needs a new truck

What time you get down there? Keen to go - but when v quiet...
I tend to go there for 9am. Most I've seen is 2 or 3 other skaters at that time, but you're generally okay before 10m I think even on weekends. Go for it.

You are very simply over thinking Ollie's bro. Sit at a bench and just play with your board using just your legs....pop it like an Ollie but don't worry to land it....just popping....try shuv it's, kick flips, everything but mostly Ollie's. Once you can pop your board good just do the same thing while rolling but jump. You will be olling up curbs in a week. Over thinking is something I'm very good at....remember this is fun and it doesn't hurt that much to bail when you roll as slow as us LOL so have fun and stop thinking.
I’ve had some of my best sessions when I’m not thinking. I know it too well. Then in the next one, in my head, I’m going “try not thinking about it too much, try relaxing, think about not trying or thinking”
