Ever considered swapping out factory insoles for after market ones? Remind insoles are great. You'll get better support in your foot arch, better dampening, better heel cup, less fatigue and can match your arch height.

I’ve never felt like I needed to with skating. End up getting the shoe that gives best overall…

Consider Emerica - the wino slip ons are seriously heavy duty and much more padded than VANS... if you want the west coast vibe. Get a ZERO deck and wear shredded clothes to match.
Lakai have taken over Japan - the Cambridge is the one to go for. Rock solid soles for jumping down rails. You'd need a Primitive deck and a a load of random rings on your fingers to suit.
For tricks, nothing feels more nostalgic than a pair of pillows on your feet, like Circa AL50's or eS Accel OG's. Pair with an Element deck and a band tee.

This is great!! Wicked breakdown. What’s the look that goes with Dunks or Half Cabs?

Man Reynolds half cabs are my favourite shoes of all time! Not skated on a pair of HC’s but I’m looking to get my next pair very soon 🙂

for me i like vans because its durable and last longer and save money for not always buying a new pair when got damage.

Nice vid man! Good to know the dunks are a little lighter. Think I’m gonna run with the half cabs for awhile purely because I don’t mind em and they’re always around £50 which isn’t too bad. Would love to try the dunks at some point! In other news I now know how long it takes me to eat a family size chicken pie with mash 😂 11:09 to be precise 👊

I personally wouldn't wear Vans or Nike.
I had one pair of Van years ago and the top of the shoe held up good but the sole just wore away super fast. I'm not sure what shoes I had but they had the same waffle shape sole as the half cabs you had in this video. If the sole was more robust then Vans would be ok but the soles where just not good enough at all.
As for Nike, well they are Nike lol.
I used to love Supra skate shoes but they have died off a bit now. These days I tend to go more towards DC or es. I am open to trying any shoe though really (as long as they are not Nike).

I’ve had friends that swerve Nike for many reasons (not just in skating) - I understand. I’m happy to jump between brands and find the look and feel that I like, hopefully I can buy them at true skate shops and support the industry, but there’s not many brands left that are truly authentic (as far as I’m aware).

🔥sneaker content! 🔥 It was getting back into sneakers that got me thinking about skating again. I love skating the SB lows, but recently I've been skating dunk highs purely for the ankle bash protection you mentioned... but I don't like skating them they are too bulky and restrictive. In my latest vid (just uploaded) I skate the Reebok Club C Bulk which is very similar style and feel to the SB dunks, much cheaper and massively under-rated! One day if i'm feeling brave and stupid I'll skate my Orange Lobster SBs, but need to wear them for best for a bit first!

I tried Dunk SB hi-top but my pair are too nice to ruin. Right now, as long as I can get them cheap, I’m loving the Busenitz.

Good Vlog, I wear Van Comfy Cush hi tops with those same inner soles that your half cabs have and I get on great with them although due to repeatedly slamming my right heel down whilst skating steps I’ve now got plantar fasciitis and been in pain since Christmas.
I did also skate in Niles SB Blazers but tend just to wear them for everyday use. I was a sucker for Converse Chuck Taylor baseball boots and until a few years ago worn them since the 90’s (not the same pair of course) but they gave me about as much padding as wrapping sliced ham around my feet.
Think I’ll be sticking with my Vans but great to see what others favour 🤘🏻

When I first picked up a board, I tore through my favourite adidas superstar, so switched to phat Emericas. To just have the option now to skate in shoes I want to wear normally now is quite the change - means I change day to day.

My every day shoes been Nike AF-1's for years, did contemplate some Dunks for skating but the thick sole feels clunky to me personally. So yesterday i ordered some Vans (hi tops Lizzie shoes, wer on sale for €65) they just came in yay! Gota say the boardfeel with the thinner soles is realy good. Most times i just get shoes on sale, can score some dank shoes for €50-100

Ive liked skating the Dunks, compared to the chunky shoes we had 20 years ago they’ve felt light, but the price man(!), I only want to pay £60 for a pair of shoes that I’m going to have to replace every 6 months.

I alternate between both as well as high tiop Adidas superstar. I find the Adidas my favorite and it’s a coin flip between the Dunk and HC. Also Dunk SB High and Low are different feels as well. Due to the fact you can wear high or low and can have both the Dunk is better to collect hands down but if only one pair the Half Cab for durability. The only huge deal breaker for both will be the wider toe box of Dunks or greater styles and colorways. Half Cabs are perfect and I can’t think of an improvement other than cut the tongue strap which I do already lol

Tbh my favourite shoe right now is the Adidas busenitz, but the sole is so thin it wears out too quickly
