Under the direction of Jimmy Heath, the WDR BIG BAND performs the track "Forever Sonny" (composition & arrangement: Jimmy Heath). Solos are played by Johan Hörlén on alto saxophone and John Marshall on trumpet. Recorded at WDR Studio 4 / Cologne (2016).
"I walked with Giants" is what Jimmy Heath called his autobiography, which was published a few years ago. What he means by this quickly becomes clear when you take a look at the many stations of the musician from Philadelphia: His long path as a saxophonist and composer is lined with many jazz greats, including John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. Jimmy Heath died in January 2020, he will always remain in our hearts. R.I.P!
