Thank you so much for this video. I absolutely gutted over her passing. I'm so happy that this video is out there to show people what an amazing woman Trisha was and what she accomplished. She lived a big life. So sad that she's gone. 💜💜💜💜
What a fantastic story, I really enjoyed hearing Trisha's journey. Thank you for sharing. As a fellow Canadian who moved to Portugal I can truly appreciate so much of what was shared. Importance to be within an hour to the airport, no snow, not wanting to live in a third world country yet still having a budget to work within. All the good logical and practical thinking...lol...I can completely relate. For us, because we relocated with pets we had to purchase right away - within 10 days of arrival we bought our vacation villa and in 19 days from today, we close on my personal dream home. It was meant to be a guest house (for our parents and family) only I fell in love with it and decided to make the villa our guest house instead. Portugal is such a wonderful place to live and enjoy life. Braga looks beautiful!

Incredibly beautiful property and what a wonderful story! Sincere condolences to the family on Trisha's passing; such an incredibly personal journey, beautifully told.
Trisha what a great journey and how wonderful that the property has be lovingly restored. I watch many videos on people buying properties in 🇵🇹 and the local people seem to have the beautiful old ways of helping one another. I experienced this type of connection in my childhood and it's very supportive and nurturing. Keep enjoying!
Who is selling her property now? Who does one contact? Her sister? Or ? I fell in love with this property. . What was the car accident situation? Are there some roads around there that are an issue? This was such an amazing story! Did a great job on it! Cindy
Hello, my husband and I stayed at her place for 4 months early 2021 and kept in touch with Trisha, saw her about 5 weeks before the accident. Her car had been out of action for at least 6 months (so she hadn't been driving) it just had a new engine, and some guests had been borrowing it, so she had just got it back a couple of weeks before the accident, but also, it was on an area of road known for some accidents (not the road her house is on, but further down, towards the national park). There are some winding roads with ravines in the hilly areas, and in some places they don't have barriers. Whether she was going too fast or there was an animal, or there was an issue with the car, we won't know, but we should always drive carefully on winding roads.
What a magnificent property, Trisha has done a stellar job on restoring it to surpassing it's former glory. Thanks for showing us this property and sharing it's story with us.
It’s a farm. What a huge project. Great job, but never ending. I had a 10 year renovation experience on a smaller scale. Tons of work, contractor chasing and -weeding out, sacrifices, not seeing family out of the country. I sold it last year and now renting and catching up enjoying life. Hats off to you, I know what it takes. Hope to learn about your life in Braga one day.
My husband and I moved from Scotland to Portugal in July last year. We bought an approximately 100-year-old house in an agricultural area. The locals in the village are very welcoming, kind and friendly. There are several British couples and other nationalities from Europe who have flocked in the area. There are several properties for sale here, one of which has a hectare of land with most probably 80 olive trees and a house which is quite new.
Amazing wonderful home. I am from Ontario, Canada and have visited Portugal with my husband a few years back for a month and loved it. Your place is magical . Good for you. You have done what I am sure I couldn't do but I live through your adventure. Maybe someday I will be back for a visit.

Interesting information -- especially about how properties are priced by the Portuguese. Trisha's price seems to be realistic with a little wiggle room and much more in line than some properties priced for more. It is a beautiful historical property with so much more potential in the unfinished houses on the land and having the tourism license should be a draw. Can not imagine the hoops she went thru to get that! At 22.39 of the video there is a structure by the front gate. Is it a gate house or a neighbor's property? Best of luck to her :o)

Great story, great property, and great owner. I Have done quite a few renovations in the US on my homes. I was wondering how difficult was it to get help on some of the bigger jobs like roof replacement? Land Leveling? Hopefully I will be living in Portugal within the next 4 years.
You can place ads and ask locally. Usually laborers or trades ppl are well known in the area they service. Shouldn't be a problem. I have a property in the North and got all my contractors through Peixoto ( similar to Home Depot) in Viana Do Castelo. Best of luck.

Ive actually had some amazing parties to celebrate milestones! You can hire live music to entertain and bring out the barbecues. Good times have been had for sure! Hope you enjoy the video.
@@Solo50plus I was only guessing why she would want to sell. She was very young when she started this project, and is still young. As a relatively lazy 50 plus person, I’m in visitor status. Good luck with the adventuring. 🙌🏾😁
@@Nubianette that is absolutely it... im creeping up on 50 and dont have the energy i had in my 30s. But i will keep busy with another great project in the future for sure!
I need to listen to the vid again as I also hadn’t realized why she was selling. The sound is terrible and I’m 70, so please forgive me for asking again. I sent this to my sister who is getting ready to retire in Portugal. She just sent me a listing in Braga of a fantastic property. This area of Portugal is very green & lush. So I thought she might want your contact details to rent a room while she & her husband are checking out properties in the are.
What an irresistably beautiful farm home you have there ...... love it and if I am in the money, I would not hesitate to arrange a viewing and make you an offer. All the best. 🙏🙏🙏
Lots of people are still asking why Trisha is selling, it has been answered in the comments but may now be difficult to find. . There is info about the property on the website mentioned including a bit about why she is selling... I have pasted the paragraph below. 🏠 When I bought the property in 2010 it had been abandoned for over 10 years and it has been a labor of love to slowly restore it and create a new life and vision for it. Today I feel that it has become too much work for me to manage alone; it is time for new owners to infuse the place with fresh energy and ideas and develop all the potential that the property still has.
Truly a beautiful property! You’ve done a wonderful job with it! I sensed, immediately that you are a BC Canadian. Thank you for sharing your story! Cheers ~
Yes, the reason i am selling is exactly that- it is too big! I would also like to spend more time travelling and with my family. It is difficult to leave the farm for months at a time because hands on maintenence is important important. So i just have felt like it is time to pass the torch to someone else! But i do plan to buy another, smaller property in the area. I really love this part of portugal.
It seems to have a lot of potential! Tourism rentals, and for al sorts of events, weddings; parties. I’m imagining the fireworks in the summer nights!!! My husband and I are thinking of all the possibilities the land has to offer!!!! What commercial agricultural projects are available? Can it also be used for agri tourism ? 😀 🇨🇦 🌷 Sam
Project funding can be available but it depends on the areas that the country is investing their EU funds and it changes. But tourism and innovative projects are almost always possible. I dont keep up on what is happening with agricultural grants. But there will always be project grants and there are companies that help you to apply.
Hello Trisha, Watching your live stream and loving your enthusiasm about Braga and Portugal. I am a fellow Canadian and am keen to retire to Portugal next year too. I have one question - Does Braga qualify to purchase property for the Golden Visa? Would you know? And if yes, do you know how much one needs to invest? Thank you in advance. Cheers! SJ.
Sorry, and second part of the question. I think that the investment needs to total about 400K, but that will include upgrades and renovations, or can be business investment, etc. Not specifically a property purchase.
The property looks lovely and even though she did a lot of work on the house, the pool and farm, there are still lots of outbuilding that can be worked on. Our question is why is she selling? Because now seems to be the ideal time to stay there, rent or RB&B it and live her life and finally relax, considering she is still young, it seems that she is healthy ( and Portugal has excellent health care)so did we miss the “why” she is selling.??
Its a big project for 1 person, and also, i didnt realize that i wouldnt be totally comfortable running a guesthouse. Its is a dream job for many, and it has been quite successful for me, but it isnt what works for me personally. I would love to see someone else come and take the farm to the next level.
I lived close to Vancouver when my parents were still alive. My brothers still there. My daughter lives in NB. How do you feel about Canada not letting me into the country and not letting my daughter out? Canada once a dream come true, turned to hell for us.
@@Solo50plus - If your Portuguese friend has the same problem and can't go see her grandchildren in Canada, I would think that's a thumbs down for Canada, don't you agree?
you dont mention why she is leaving her property that she fell inlove with and has brought back to life lovingly. I am very confused why she is selling.
Hi Judith, it is just too big for me now and and i would like something a bit smaller and easier to manage on my own. I would like to start travelling again and spend more time with family, so i think this home is ready for new owners to come and love it and take care of it!
There are many, many reason why people move on or make a change. Some of which may have nothing to do with the property. Some can be personal so it's not my place to insist she share it with the world.
@@tpope5978 Hi Trisha, My mom is from Paradela de Frades. Not too far from Amares Feira Nova, (closer to Bouro). Now that my partner and I are retiring, we wish to purchase a property in Portugal. Is your beautiful home is available by any chance ?
@@Solo50plus thanks, it is a interesting question, anglo-saxons rarely see themselves as immigrants, in france, for instance, they are expats, you are close to lifestyle migrations, which is another classification, well, thanks
question- We are two moms with two children, really interested in relocating from the US to Portugal. what areas would you recommend? Braga seems amazing, but are the people there ok with the LGBT community?
I need to do a video on this...there is no way I can answer that. There's no way a someone can make a recommendation for you. Everyone s very, very different!! 😳
I can give you my opinion 😊 being Portuguese born and left when I was 24 I can tell you that for a 99% of Catholic population we are the most accepting people you’ll ever come across and I was born and grew up in a very small rural town. I grew up having some friends that are gay now and no problems at all. These days it’s even better than 20 years ago. There is not 1 part of Portugal that it wouldn’t be safe for gay people 😊
Metro urban children, always seeking for a place to call a home. Unfortunately home is where your family is and the place you are connected with the land and local people with deep roots and unbreakable bonds. People from villages and small towns call those places home, cause the earth is filled with their ancestors going back even thousands of years in some cases, their extended family lives mostly there, every corner of the village has a childhood memory attached to it, it's the place your grandparents lived, your high school friends live, your parents live, etc a matrix of bonds memories and emotions make you call a place home. Sadly it's difficult engineer equally strong bonds with an new region or place.
Absolutely I agree...home is that place you describe. But not everyone has that idilic childhood. Some are children of immigrants and had no grandparents, aunties, uncles cousins or any extended family or roots and belonging to a place. Some moved around a lot including internationally like military families. So there is no idilic strong bond to a place to recreate. Therefore making a new place home does not present the same difficulty, or longing or feeling of missing out.
@@Solo50plus She said "Any place that wasn't going to be too expensive because I had a budget at that point" and "affordable" many times. But you can stay calm, it was more humour on my part than anything else.

AHAHAH!! funny enough, I'm Canadian too and any places with snow was out of the question :D thanks so much for making this video it's inspiring :) hope you'll come and visit us up north at some point :) Keep up the good work with your videos!! :) xx
Yep heard that more than a few times! 😂
Would love to come and see how the projects going :)
@@Solo50plus absolutely, and you'll be welcome too, our house should be done by end of July we think :D Kinda depends on the building material, now we were told 3-4 weeks lead time... Ho well :)
Love the video and what you did with the place!
Glad you liked the video and seeing Trisha's.
We are watching now!!!😀
I like the explanation about the diff between Exoat and immigrant😀
Viva Braga!!!!
Enjoy!
Great story, great property, and great owner. I Have done quite a few renovations in the US on my homes. I was wondering how difficult was it to get help on some of the bigger jobs like roof replacement? Land Leveling? Hopefully I will be living in Portugal within the next 4 years.
Unfortunilty I don't know the answer to this. Sorry.
You can place ads and ask locally. Usually laborers or trades ppl are well known in the area they service.
Shouldn't be a problem. I have a property in the North and got all my contractors through Peixoto ( similar to Home Depot) in Viana Do Castelo. Best of luck.
My hats off to you and what a nice farm!
Thanks...I hope Trisha sees your kind words :)
Why can people watch the whole video and stop asking questions and prices THAT ARE IN THE VIDEO . Watch the video if you want to know the price . Thankyou Louise , beautiful place and very interresting story from Trisha. Sad that you have to let it go .But you have done an amazing huge job on the property.
Thank you so much!!! It has been 12 wonderful years here and it is time for something smaller and easier to manage : ) but i hope someone who buys it will love it as much as i do.
Well said Raffaella...I felt I had to hold my tongue so you have done the deed for me. 🙊 😊
What a wonderful place ...
I thought so :)
hello girls. I found you on a house sitting video you did. I am a single gal 60 headed to Portugal to buy a small farm. Been doing Old home restorations for over 30 years. I will arrive in Dec to find a small farm in central Portugal while I am visiting for 3 months. Would love to find out more about your house sitting jobs. I have a whole playlist on house sitting. That should help 😊

Amazing paradise!
I sure is :)
I’m about to watch from the beginning. I came in at the end. It’s a beautiful property! I’d love to be invited as a guest. There could be some fun parties there! 😁
Ive actually had some amazing parties to celebrate milestones! You can hire live music to entertain and bring out the barbecues. Good times have been had for sure! Hope you enjoy the video.
@@tpope5978 yes! Great story! You’re obviously a very hard worker. I wish you well, and some well deserved chill time.
She’ll find another project I’m sure. I don’t think it will be as big but I don’t think she she can help herself 😂
Great energy. Smart , creative, possive, well good luck and it's to start a new chapter. Or should I say a new book. Cheers
Sadly Trisha passed away (see pinned comment) 😔
💕What an amazing lady💕With such a beautiful property💕
She is and it is! Thanks for watching 😊
Maybe look at your volume controls.
What an irresistably beautiful farm home you have there ...... love it and if I am in the money, I would not hesitate to arrange a viewing and make you an offer. All the best. 🙏🙏🙏
It will be a great home and venture for the right people.
thanks for very valuable advice
You're welcome 😊
Your channel is so helpful 😍🥰😘 new sub and bell ❤
Thank you, I appreciate your support 😊
I hope you continue to enjoy the videos.
I enjoyed this video and watching Trisha’s story. So true that tomorrow is not promised 😢 but I’m glad that she lived out her dream.
🙏🏽😔
Lots of people are still asking why Trisha is selling, it has been answered in the comments but may now be difficult to find. . There is info about the property on the website mentioned including a bit about why she is selling... I have pasted the paragraph below.
🏠
When I bought the property in 2010 it had been abandoned for over 10 years and it has been a labor of love to slowly restore it and create a new life and vision for it. Today I feel that it has become too much work for me to manage alone; it is time for new owners to infuse the place with fresh energy and ideas and develop all the potential that the property still has.
If i can answer any questions for people who are thinking of moving into this area, I am happy to do so!
Thank you Trisha that's awesome :)
Trisha, Why are you selling?
Truly a beautiful property! You’ve done a wonderful job with it! I sensed, immediately that you are a BC Canadian. Thank you for sharing your story! Cheers ~
@@janineschaefer7206 Yes, i was waiting for the reason why she is selling it. For me it would be just too big.
Hi I hope you will be showing more properties, why no pics of the interior, what farm animals does she have. Also, why leave..it so beautiful.
I haven't any plans to show properties. There were loads of pictures and video of the inside!! 😳
@@Solo50plus I guess I missed them, Have you done anything on the cost of living?
It would be interesting to hear the follow-up after Trisha sells her dream home and her next adventure
It would :)
Stunning property 😍
It really is!
I am so sorry I had just posted and now see the post abut Trisha. My sincere condolences for the loss of your friend.
a dream home for a young farming family
Absolutely... my thoughts exactly.
great property and great work trisha did. unfortunately for my 800k is way out of my budget range fro my future home.
It will be perfect for someone and within their budget. That's the beauty of how the world works, there's something for everyone!
🌷 Sam
I have to check my lotto numbers!😀
Project funding can be available but it depends on the areas that the country is investing their EU funds and it changes. But tourism and innovative projects are almost always possible. I dont keep up on what is happening with agricultural grants. But there will always be project grants and there are companies that help you to apply.
Me too! 😂
The possibilities are endless with the place, so many options. It currently has a tourism license.
What an amazing renovation.
It was and a wonderful woman. Her recent passing is so tragic 😢
Cheers! SJ.
My understanding is that yes, it still qualifies. The areas to be excluded are around Lisbon, Porto and areas in the Algarve.
The forum linked in the description will help you with all that kind of info.
Sorry, and second part of the question. I think that the investment needs to total about 400K, but that will include upgrades and renovations, or can be business investment, etc. Not specifically a property purchase.
I made a comment congratulating Trisha on her beautiful property but it seems that my comment to her has been deleted from here !!! Why? !!!
No idea, that's one for TH-cam.🤷🏽♀️ I've seen a lot of disappearing comments!
Ohh no Trisha passed away how sad. Sister from Canada. RIP dear will meet you one day!
Beautiful home. This is a great episode. We are looking to buy in the city center of Braga. We hope we can find something under 300K euro.
Hope you find the perfect place for you :)
Yes. Why is she selling this beautiful property?
Its a big project for 1 person, and also, i didnt realize that i wouldnt be totally comfortable running a guesthouse. Its is a dream job for many, and it has been quite successful for me, but it isnt what works for me personally. I would love to see someone else come and take the farm to the next level.
Trisha answered why she's selling in a couple of comments, one of which is in the pinned comment at the top.
Did you bother to look at the website that is referenced in the video where it explains all that in detail??
I’m from Vancouver island BC Canada and I was born in Portugal. Is this property still for sale? I looking to retire there at some point.
Don´t know.
Hi. Just wondering, are any of the buildings, suites wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunilty Lori there are stairs to all the entrances.
Is the walls done with lime stone cement ?
?
Beautiful ❤️
I lived close to Vancouver when my parents were still alive. My brothers still there. My daughter lives in NB. How do you feel about Canada not letting me into the country and not letting my daughter out? Canada once a dream come true, turned to hell for us.
My Portuguese friend has the same problem.... she can't go see her grandchildren in Canada. 😔

@@Solo50plus - If your Portuguese friend has the same problem and can't go see her grandchildren in Canada, I would think that's a thumbs down for Canada, don't you agree?
Hi.. really beautiful..whats the price??
It's in the video!
800,000 Euro
Did Trisha have a youtube channel?
No
Can you tell us the price, please?
I did, in the video 😳
you dont mention why she is leaving her property that she fell inlove with and has brought back to life lovingly.
Some can be personal so it's not my place to insist she share it with the world.

what is the difference between expat and immigrant?
In the context most people are using it...None!

Excellent answer I my opinion. 👍
There is not 1 part of Portugal that it wouldn’t be safe for gay people 😊
What’s the price ?

@@Solo50plus Of course, i didnt state it as an accusation but as an observation.

It really takes a west-coaster to say that a 500k$ house, in Portugal at the beginning of the 2000's, is a "budget" house.
