In 1988 he won the DPOY, MVP, Scoring title and won the playoff series, also averaging 8,8 and 32 plus points a game while shooting at 53 percent.... hmmmm.... that DPOY tho!
dangeo1020 ....thanks and they kill me with LeBron shit like he doing something special when we seen Jordan do shit like he did in 87-88 season....thats today's NBA
@@dencyklendelasesmedsterbro8486 He also won the MVP that year.....and the all star game MVP......and the slam dunk contest......and become the only player in history to record 200 steals and 100 blocks in back to back season.....87-88 was unmatched by any player ever. He was at his most complete on BOTH ends of the court that year. He was a phenomenon that year, just ridiculous.
dangeo1020 yeah. Statistically probably his best ever season. He averaged 35 ppg that year AND won dpoy. Grabbing 8 and 8 with I think over 3 stalls per game too..., That is a WTF season If ever there was one.
I personally believe the 98 season was MJ greatest season. MJ carried the bulls despite no pippen for much of the season, rodman's decline, age, fatigue both mentally and physically. He willed a bulls team on fumes to their 6th title. game 6 vs utah in 98 was the ultimate display of why MJ is the GOAT. statically its one of this worst finals games but if you watched and take into account the injury to pippen, ineffectiveness of rodman and they role players. You saw that will to win that everyone talks about with mj was on full display. MJ didnt shy away from the moment he embraced it.
I agree. At this point MJ had a perfectly sculpted game. He already proved he can get any numbers he imagined but watching that season you saw an MJ that blended in with the background more yet before you knew he put up 30-8-6 with 3 steals and 2 blocks and turned out he went on an 8-0 scoring tear in the final 2 mins for the win. I saw this night after night while all my friends kept saying how overrated he was I was watching in awe and trying to figure out how this genius is managing to not waste a single bit of energy out there. Energy efficiency like I’ve never seen again. These GOAT talks make me laugh. MJ no contest. He will always be the greatest in my eyes and the way he came back from retirement twice and was always a top gunner is amazing. No one talks much about his old man stats with the Wizards. Combined he still averaged 21points, 1.5 steals, 4.5 assists, 6 rebounds, with 36 mins, and still shooting 45% from the field. Everyone was raggin on him for not putting up 30 per game while I sat back amazed at this old man and his complete game. Also did I mention he played SF those seasons? MJ is GOAT.
I watched MJ's whole career and I have to say in my opinion 02-03 was not his best season but his most beautiful. He was like a God that had been cast off Mt. Olympus by his own Ego and at age 40 looked almost mortal at times. It was a wonderful drama to watch him falter and fail at times, but then dust himself off and redouble his efforts. Here was a 40 year old man fighting Father Time with all the ferociousness of an old hero who would not go gracefully into that good night. Every 20 year old in the league was trying to make a name by killing Jordan, but he fought them all. He was a poet. He was a champion past his time with a middle finger in the air who said "To be the best, you've to beat the best." Turns out the only opponent Jordan couldn't defeat was the clock.
@@walterheryford9312 FINALLY someone who knows. Yes! He is the only player in history, still today, to record at least 200 steals and 100 blocks in back to back seasons. There's only a handful of players that have ever done it once let alone TWICE, back to back! He was unstoppable on both ends of the court.
Dude, you left so much out of his 87-88 season!!! 87-88 was BY FAR his best season, not only that, but it was the best season any player has ever had in the NBA. Let me explain. In 1987-88, Jordan won the Scoring title, the Defensive player of the year award, the league MVP, the All Star game MVP, the Slam Dunk contest, led the league in steals, became the only player in NBA history to record 200 steals and 100 blocks in back 2 back seasons, and averaged 35ppg on 54% shooting. So yeah...............you left A LOT out of that season. He was at his absolute peak offensively and defensively that year, and the awards back that up. That was the most ridiculous season any player has ever had on both ends of the court. Some could say Wilt but Wilt played in an era with fewer teams and less talent in the league. Jordan played in the most talented era ever and was the best player in that era and it wasn't even close. Nobody has ever led the league in scoring AND won the defensive player of the year award AND the league MVP, plus all of his other accomplishments. He was BEAST that year.
Id say it’s his second or best regular season, but in the playoffs Detroit managed to defend him well. Overall it’s hard to not go with one of his championship years as his best.
95-96 could possibly be the best season "for the bulls", but that young MJ with 37ppg is insane, man! I watch videos of the young MJ and although veteran MJ is hell strong, I like how the young MJ is crazy fast and got mad hops!
Best statistical season '88-'89 when he went 32-8-8. Best accomplished season '95-'96 when he swept all the MVP awards, regular season MVP, All Star Game MVP and Finals MVP, along with winning another scoring title, making the All NBA First Team and All Defensive First Team while leading his team to 72 wins.
But the Bulls went to the Finals without him when he quit in 93/94 for a year to play baseball. Selfish of course. But it just showed the talent he had around him.Can you imagine the Lakers going to the finals without Magic? No way, probably not even the playoffs. The Bulls were talented, they won with great defense, held the scores low, many times below 100. Jordan was great of course, but his 1st five years he was selfish, and held them back. scoring 40 points and losing the playoffs mean nothing.
93/94 the team was already established, the team was built already so they knew how to adjust but the prob is in the crunch time, pippen cannot carry the tension when winning is on the line, same fate he had shown during the blazers
No way, 87-88 was by far his best season. He won DPOY, the scoring title, and the MVP that year, led the league in steals, became the only player in history to record 200 steals and 100 blocks in back to back seasons, won the slam dunk contest, the all star game MVP, and he averaged 35ppg on 54% shooting. THAT was his best season, and the best season anyone has ever had.
I think his greatest achievement is being grounded even though we called him Air Jordan. So humble, a very good example of sportsmanship that future generations can emulate. For me he was good his whole career. Been so blessed to have witnessed such greatness firsthand.
Emmanuel Enyinwa pathetic is when Durant drained the 3 in LeBron face and LeBron smiled and tried to act like... Your boy don't do me dirty like. What was even more pathetic is lebron throwing his teamates under the bus. We can also talk about his 8 point performance against the mavs in the finals or about how numerous players have outperformed LeBron on the biggest stage.
@Tyler Vincent You're the first person I've seen mention this. Pippen shot under 39% or less in several playoff runs, and never dominated a Finals offensively. In fact, he usually disappointed and MJ had to carry even more of the load.
He was his physical best, along with the strong mental aspects of the game, in 1991-1992. His best statistical year was the 88-89 season (32, 8, 8, 53.8% from the field, 85% from the line, 2.9 steals per game). A very close second is 1990-1991. His numbers were so good because he switched to the point guard position in March of 1989 and held it to the end of the season (24 games). This helped increase his rebound and assist totals/avgs for the season while his scoring dipped a bit. He also recorded 13 triple-doubles during that stretch, totaling out at 15 for the season!
Good point! They try to discredit MJ for averaging less in rebounds and assists. Well if he had the ball in his hands as more of a point guard like Lebron does he would have averaged 30+ points, 8 rebs, 8 assts a season with ease!!
kcire10 10 you can also clearly see that 91-92 is when he stepped up the post game and fade-away. He had both of them before but he really stepped it up during that season. Then before the 4th title is when his fade-away and post-game went from like a 9.5/10 to a 10/10 as he polished them up even more I’m not really sure which season he was at his “peak”
There has to be some kind of boosted stat effect by being the primary facilitator. It can't be just coincidence that the moment MJ started playing PG, his assists and rebounds shot up without any significant difference in his scoring. He averaged I believe 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 10.7 assists during those 24 games. It's pretty easy to figure out why the assists went up but why the rebounds also shot up is a little harder to figure out. But it happened so there was definitely something going on. Then the moment he went back to the 2 the following season, his rebounds and assist totals reverted back too. Because of that, I'm convinced had he stayed as a point guard throughout his career, his boosted stats would've stayed with him. He played the boosted stat role better than Lebron, Westbrook, Harden and all the others. I always point to those 24 games when someone tries to claim Lebron was the better player based on the stat comparison between the two players in assists and rebounds.
For me personally, his best season was 92-93. 3-peat was an illusion because it never been done for a long long time n people started to doubt his legacy would continue or not. His teammates I believed have downhill situation, like Paxson, Cartwright, etc were aged. So he had to carry his team more that season. Knicks held homecourt advantage but yet the Bulls beat them. Barkley & the Suns held the best record n were predicted to win the championship. I remember watching the 93 finals amazed by his performance, dominating every game n after first 2 games I started to believe that they can win 3-peat. The drama of game 6 was unreal!!! Unbelievable game with amazing finish!!! I believe he averaged 41ppg in that series wasn't he.
" His teammates I believed have downhill situation, like Paxson, Cartwright, etc were aged. "LOL! This is why THREE of those "aged" teammates made the All Star game the next season the ONLY time Jordan was gone, and Pippen had an MVP season, and the team BARELY noticed he was gone, winning just two games less..
He was his physical best, along with the strong mental aspects of the game, in 1991-1992. His best statistical year was the 88-89 season (32, 8, 8, 53.8% from the field, 85% from the line, 2.9 steals per game). A very close second is 1990-1991. Emmanuel Enyinwa what "Aged" teammates on the Bulls made the 1993-94 All Star team because Pippen,Grant and Armstrong (All-star reserve) weren't who he was talking about. And the Bulls added Steve Kerr,Luc Longley,Bill Wennington, and Toni Kukoc just to replace one man (Jordan) and still lost in the 2nd round but yet that same team the following season was struggling to stay above .500 before Jordan returned in 94-95.
He said paxson and Cartwright, not BJ and grant, and BJ was voted in. He didn’t deserve to be an all star. Team barely noticed he was gone? They failed to make it to the ECF after 5 straight appearances. They did not win the title after 3 straight titles and their offense went from second best in 1993 to 14th best in 1994. I would say they missed MJ greatly.
I think his best season was 1987-88-He won the regular season MVP, Defensive Player of the year, Slam Dunk contest, All Star Game MVP, Led the league in scoring and steals, Had 18 40 point games, 4 50 point games, 2 Triple Doubles, and Back to back 50 point games in the playoffs Vs Cleveland. His second best season was 1991-92 season. He won his 3rd MVP, 6th Scoring title, 5th All Defensive team selection. The Bulls had the best record in the NBA at 67-15. MJ had averages of 30.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.3 steals, 11 40 point games, 2 50 point games, 2 Triple Doubles, a 56 point game in the playoffs (Game 3 at Miami) a 46 point game in the Finals (Game 5 at Portland) Won his 2nd NBA Championship, 2nd Finals MVP, and a 2nd Olympic Gold medal in the summer of 1992.
Glossing over the all defensive teams and his DPOY (he was the only scoring champion to win the award in the same season) and leading the league in steals and scoring (3x) other than that good video...
96 chicago bulls was the best team and Michael was on his absolute peak. Perfect balance of atheleticism, skills and experience. And that mastery of turn -around-fadeaway.
MJ's 96' Bulls was him at his best! 33 yrs old returning after retirement, 72-10 regular season/ nearly unbeatable in playoffs! Best Bulls team of the 6 titles, arguably the best-ever NBA team of all-time!!!
USCG BMCM retired And they TALK bout Lebron at 33 like they NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE? HELL! At 35! He was STILL THE UNDISPUTED BEST in THE LEAGUE! NOW? Is it Bron? Is it KD? Is it Leonard? DIDN'T HEAR that in MJ'S ERA
USCG BMCM retired you so wrong, his shooting percentage decreased and physically he was no longer the same player but that bulls team was toi mature for thé REST of the league
MJ's 86-87 season is insane. You're not giving it its due justice. He was a madman that year-proving to the world that he was BACK and would not be stopped. All forgiveness, however, bc of the D-Rose jab. Soooooooooo necessary. Thank you!!
Nice job. The only thing I’d add under the season highlights would be in 1992-1993 when he averaged 41 points per game in the Finals against the Phoenix Suns which is the highest ppg average in NBA Finals history. Also, what Arthur McKelvie mentioned below about his 87-88 DPOY which I forgot about when I watched this.
How if he didn't win MVP, didn't have the best record in the league or even in the East, and his shooting % slightly dropped to 49%, which is amazing for a shooting guard, but low for MJ's standard.
72 win as a team, mvp, scoring title 95-96.champions.Individual achievement 1987 over 37 points per game that was awesome comparable with chamberlain numbers. All star dunking champion revealed to the world the greatness he will be.great video liked the slow narration.
Awesome video and a very nice summary of the career of the GOAT! It's actually difficult to say which season is the best because we always have to take into account there are personal accomplishments and team accomplishments. At personal level MJ had better seasons than that 90-91 one you chose but as a team that was the first real successful one. I also consider the 92-93 season and especially the finals against the Suns and MVP Barkley as one of the best ones. The Bulls beat the Suns with the league MVP and MJ had an amazing statline in the finals again against the team with the MVP. It's very difficult for me to say which one is the best one for me, the one when MJ had the biggest ppg total, the first championship or the 92-93 season but I think I'll pick the last one, 92-93 season and the finals against Barkley! "The unstoppabulls" season 95-96 was historical at the time of course with the 72-10 record but I think the Bulls were more stacked then than during the first three peat so 92-93 it is for me.
Good choice. Jordan had so many great years that sometimes it just comes down to what you personally value the most. The third championship put Jordan and the Bulls into a whole new class. It was the year Jordan himself felt he had accomplished enough in the sport. Plus facing Barkley and the Suns just added another level of drama. LeBron could tell you from recent experience that it's not easy beating the MVP in the finals.
The 1992, 1997, and 1998 seasons are the ones that stand out to me the most. In 1992, he faced the toughest Finals opponent of the 1st 3peat, the TrailBlazers. And he was more refined and smooth, while retaining his explosive athleticism. In 1997, he was clearly older, and losing just some of his athleticism, while still being the best player in the league. And W/ his age, his game became even more refined, and his wisdom would become even greater. I believe he was robbed of MVP. In 1998, the grand finale of his illustrious career W/ the Bulls, he was still able to get the job done. There's just something about him this season that lets you know he will never guardable at any age.
4:18 Free throw line dunk does not "refect" the "jumpman" logo that is on his shoes that he is actually wearing in the dunk. Peter Moore came across a photo of Jordan in “Life” Magazine showing him wearing his Olympic jumpsuit and soaring towards a rim. Since they couldn’t use the image, they decided to recreate the moment on a studio set with Jordan wearing his Bulls colors. One of the pictures captured was Jordan doing a ballet move, not a dunk. That graceful picture was not only worth a thousand words but eventually billions of dollars.
Jordan's best season was when he played in the NBA. There is no fricking way you can call this guy inconsistent I mean having 10 consecutive scoring titles, 5 mvps, 6 fmvp and rings, 2 Olympic gold medals and a dpoy to decorate his hof cabinet is enough to call this man the greatest of all time.
Pick 1991 jordan. Jordan had his quickness till this season. And looks like he discovered how to get championship titles. (Triangle offence for team) Assist, Rebound, ball controls. And added his prime. Not only has his own ability but also has winning system in his brain.
I’m sure he would say any season where they won the title was his best year, but it’s hard to overlook what he did in the 87-88 season. That year he was the first and on,y player in nba history to win the scoring title and defensive player of the year during the same season. Along with that, he won the dunk contest, all-star game MVP, and the league MVP. I was in high school back then and I remember how enjoyable it was watching him play on WGN. In the 90s he became an overall better player being much more efficient and team player. He also bulked up to take the physical beating he was getting from the bad boy pistons. But during the late 80s there was nothing like him or since. He was so quick, could jump out of the gym and had this ability to hang in the air while the other players around him would fall to the ground. He literally made the other players look foolish. He was just a this raw talent unbelievable talent.
Best season - 72 wins and champs. Play for wins not stats. No trying to get triple doubles, trying to pass someone on the scoring list, Definitely no losing with a 3-1 advantage. The greatest player plays to win, the greatest team plays to win. Everyone there should consider that their best season.
" The greatest player plays to win, the greatest team plays to win."This why Jordan had FIVE losing seasons, or a full THIRD of his career, he never even got his team to .500?
Emmanuel Enyinwa You're bypassing all Jordan's accomplishments to judge his first five years in the league? Terrible sports commentary at best. Go back to the drawing board your material is weak.
Dude said stats don't matter, only winning. By that criteria, Jordan does not qualify then, as he lost more than he won in a season for a full 33% of his career.
Emmanuel Enyinwa the video producer is just looking at Jordan's individual accomplishments by year. It's his right to do that. 33%, what are you talking about bro? Nobody talks about basketball like that lol... Are you trying to say Michael Jordan didn't win a championship every year of his career? Ok!? What's your point? Outside of those 60 Celtics teams who has won a title every year of their career? lol Your argument is meaningless and hollow. Come with something else this is super weak.
There were some nights he destroyed them, and there were some nights he deferred to his own teammates like Jerry Stackhouse cause he was getting old and his talent was fading in a way that we all hoped we'd never see. No, not Wizards Jordan.
Never watched him play so I can’t consider him the GOAT but as a Basketball player myself I can recognize that he was an alien for sure. Of all the highlights I’ve seen though, for some reason 91’-92’ season where they go back to back, sticks out the most to me. Just looking at the highlights, he played at a completely different level and everyone else looked like G League talent compared to him.
Hard to argue against 1991 Jordan. I mean, he had a lot of great seasons, but it was a good blend of his athleticism and basketball savvy, not to mention team success. 1988 or 1989 was his best box score year, but 1991 was just as good as any season according to Basketball Reference. His best box score season, 1989, I tend to look at as what if Westbrook took fewer bad shots and forced fewer bad turnovers. I also liked that playoff run, because that was the last year in which the Bulls were true underdogs and yet managed to pull off some impressive playoff wins.
There needs to be a Michael Jordan channel following his career, game for game in their entirety, from rookie to retirement. With all the great stories, sidebars, and interviews included. Every moment. Every thought. Everything. Revisited!!! Who wouldn't be watching???
MJ'S peak was 1991-1993. He built muscle, could drive on you anytime, all the time, became a good passer, and could kill u with his jumper. He also developed his post game. All that wasnt the case his first couple yrs or when he came back
His 98 (final bulls season) takes the cake for me. Everyone was raggin on him for not putting up 30 per game while I sat back amazed at this old man and his complete game. Also did I mention he played SF those seasons? MJ is GOAT.
Not to mention,he add one of the sweetest fad away jumpers to his arsenal that made him just as good as he ever was ,just didn't have to attack the basket as much like he did but still did whenever he wanted.so if his age was starting to catch up with him,he stalled that shit with the jumper and the rest of his ability to keep him just as dangerous of a player that he was till he said goodbye for good.his knees was the only part of him that wasn't in their prime if that's what's being said but MJ the basketball player was still the man on that court doing his thing
I'll actually say 1997 Jordan. The total package. Still had the killer 3 ball but started posterizing dudes again. So fun to watch. Totally unstoppable.
Thanks for the vid. Good analysis but you left out half of his accomplishments. One of Jordan’s greatest attributes was his ability to play both sides of the ball. He is the only player in history to get 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season and he did it twice! The winning play vs the Jazz in the finals the first year was a steal by Jordan. His defensive game can not be overlooked. Also his playoff stats are better than his regular season stats. His Finals MVPs are not mentioned.
1988 was Jordan's greatest individual season. MVP & DPOY & SCORING CHAMPION & ALL STAR MVP & SLAM DUNK CHAMPION & ALL NBA FIRST TEAM & ALL NBA DEFENSIVE FIRST TEAM. Won't see that again for a while, maybe Lonzo Ball..
In 91’ season , you forgot one important factor that made them beat the Piston and that is the “Triangle Offense”, that made the Jordan rule ineffective.
This vid was obviously done by someone who knew mj only as a scoring machine and not much more. He even highlighted mj's slam dunk win (which is novelty to be honest) and said absolutely nothing about him winning the DPOY and leading the NBA in steals per game. And then tell us what mj's best season is.
You Forgot his Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1988. I also think that setting the all time NBA scoring record in the playoffs which still stands today was at least “something to speak of” in 1985-1986.
The 96-97 season was the best version of Jordan IMHO, with 91-92 being the close 2nd. In 96-97 MJ still had amazing speed and jumping ability and his footwork was better than ever (he was even faster than he was in 95-96). He read the floor better than his physical peak years (90-93), and the game was so easy for him that he managed to save his energy for the playoffs. In the 97-98 regular season he played so hard (partly because Pippen missed half a season) and he lost his legs in the playoffs. He didn't have his range so he had to work much harder in the low post. In the 91-92 season MJ was in his physical peak and he was playing with a new level of confidence because of the fiirst championship. He would get the ball around the elbow and look at his defender realizing he could go wherever he wanted. The game was wide open and it was the beginning of a new level of understanding. However his footwork and shooting weren't as good as he was in 95-98 seasons. The 92-93 season he was still awesome but I think he put his foot off the gas occasionally, maybe because he was recovering from the busy olympic summer or maybe he got complacent (that would be the only season I think that Jordan didn't always give his best effort. One thing about MJ was that he never played down to his opponents' level- Kobe was the only other all time great that played hard in every game)
He played 82 games 9 times and dude was averaging over 30 with only 2-3 3 pointers attempted. 10x scoring champ, 3x steals leader, dpoy and 5 mvps. That man was insane.
Very limited stats by focusing on his scoring only. Why not include his steals titles as well? '87 = first out of only three players in NBA history to ever record 200+ steals w/ 100+ blocks in a season '88 = only one to do so twice, earning him the DPOY '89 = career highs in season rpg, apg, & triple-doubles etc...
@2:25 knowing how much of a competitor that Bird is, it surprises me to see that clip of him helping Michael back to his feet during the 63-point game. That showed a lot of respect and class there.
I believe the exact quote was "God disguised as Michael Jordan." But yeah. Awesome line and it proved to be pretty accurate for the guy's whole career.
The jumpman logo did first appear on the Jordan 3 but the pose came from an advertisement for Nike in 1985. Side note, he actually did the same pose wearing New Balance before his first Olympics.
I feel like you insulted the great hakeem olajuwon by saying MJ shoulda been drafted over him. The Rockets got a top 5 center of all time. He won MVP, DPOY, led the rockets to 3 finals and won 2 so i dont think the Rockets have any regrets of drafting Hakeem
Yeah, 1988 was definetly a season that separates MJ from pretty much everybody else. He led the league in points (35.0) and steals (3.16). Are you kidding me!!? He earned Defensive Player Of The Year and a scoring-title the same season! Unreal, and if im not mistaken, unmatched too.
Joey c maybe 3? 89’ could have gone to him, but Magic had a great year too. The bulls won less games in 88-89 than 87-88 so that probably affected some voters. 90’ was a strong year for a lot of guys. Rookie David Robinson led the Spurs to a 35 game improvement. Of the top 3 vote getters, Jordan was the only guy who was a great defensive player. Magic was getting increasingly vulnerable to quick PGs. Barkley was never a really good defender. I thought Jordan should have won. 93? Some voter fatigue there, and the Bulls won 10 games less than the previous year. Whatever. Barkley was great, Hakeem was great...Jordan was still better. You should read Bill Simmons’s take on Karl Malone winning the 97’ MVP over Jordan.
This guy definitely don't acknowledge MJ's defensive accolades. He won a defensive player of the year award and should mention his all NBA and defensive team citations. He also won all-star MVPs and Finals MVPs.
IMO Jordan retired due to having no competition, as a pure competitor without much competition it must have been tough. Then returning when people started to doubt him gave him the competitive drive to then become the best in the world again.
I like 90-91 as a choice because he climbed to the top with team success which at the time had to be a huge relief for him. I also think although his numbers had been better in the 80's he still had all of his athleticism but played more in control in a successful team situation. He took down the Pistons and Lakers in the playoffs which was very symbolic showing it was the Bulls time.
I agree, should have been included. Also I made the error that they did make it to they playoffs in his first year. Other than those 2 things, I stand by the video Tim.
@Basketball's Best You made an ERROR: You said" Bulls didn't make the playoffs in MJ rookie season. MJ made the playoffs every year he played with the Bulls. GREAT VIDEO!!!!! 7/26/19
1:55 The 84-85 Bulls DID make a playoff appearance against the Milwaukee Bucks and, in fact, got their only playoff win during Jordan's first three years.
You’re incorrect. The Bulls did make the playoffs in Michael Jordan’s rookie season, but they got eliminated in the first round 3-1 by the Milwaukee Bucks
1990-91, even Michael says it’s his best. He’s at the peak of his hunger trying to win the first title, the peak of his physical skills, and the peak of his ability to be a great teammate. His efficiency is outstanding and his numbers are great.
2002-2003 was his best year. He was 40 years old and played all 82 games. He still averaged 20 points and he was averaging around 25 ppg before he got injured but still decided to play. Plus all his games were hitting tv records at the time and people were actually watching the wizards. His shot over Marion in the all star game would have been the greatest shot in all star game history had the east actually won that game. He also managed to play with kwame brown as his center so that by itself is a huge accomplishment.
Greatest season by any player in NBA history. MJ in 88-89: Lead in scoring 33pts per gm average 8 rebounds average 8 assists average 3 steals per game! Won dunk contest Won all star game mvp Won league MVP Won Defense player of the year Lead league in steals Had over 250 steal in that year And over 130 block shots in that year. The G.O.A.T!
I only see the stats for 87-88. Judging from that, I'd say that was his best season. Personally, having watched Jordan from 91-2003, I'd say his best season was 90-91. He started really buying into the Triangle and facilitated to perfection. The other thing that stands out to me about that season was the fact that he averaged over 30 points and 11 assists per game in The Finals.
In 1988 he won the DPOY, MVP, Scoring title and won the playoff series, also averaging 8,8 and 32 plus points a game while shooting at 53 percent.... hmmmm.... that DPOY tho!
dangeo1020 ....thanks and they kill me with LeBron shit like he doing something special when we seen Jordan do shit like he did in 87-88 season....thats today's NBA
dangeo1020 Thank you! DPOY and scoringtitle same season, that is just unmatched! Averaged 35.0 points and 3.16 steals... Unreal.
Most definitely
@@dencyklendelasesmedsterbro8486 He also won the MVP that year.....and the all star game MVP......and the slam dunk contest......and become the only player in history to record 200 steals and 100 blocks in back to back season.....87-88 was unmatched by any player ever. He was at his most complete on BOTH ends of the court that year. He was a phenomenon that year, just ridiculous.
dangeo1020 yeah. Statistically probably his best ever season. He averaged 35 ppg that year AND won dpoy. Grabbing 8 and 8 with I think over 3 stalls per game too...,
That is a WTF season If ever there was one.
MJ is GOAT.
@Mr. Layth Adrian facts. He is the best in any era. He was too competitive and I’m a Lebron fan
He got 45 points

Nothing but facts over here!
Even if u just watch the satistc it’s actually one of the best games mabey mot as good as film but one of the best finals closer cause he dropped 45
Well said
Umm... no. Nice storyline but 02-03 is far from the best year and far from the best storyline. To each his own, I guess.
Stuart Otis that one block he had from behind that year is one of the greatest of all times.
Tay Gee He never said the 2002-03 season was his best season.
Stuart Otis and Larry Bird ;)
Jordan won Defensive Player of the Year in 1988 after leading the league in scoring and steals. That should be added.
should of been back to back DPOY 100 BLOCKS 200 STEALS
@@walterheryford9312 FINALLY someone who knows. Yes! He is the only player in history, still today, to record at least 200 steals and 100 blocks in back to back seasons. pretty much why he won mvp ..like lebron in 2009 he was a two way star

He was BEAST that year.
martyg23 no he didn’t know how to trust his teammates and play in a system until Phil was hired so that’s why I think it’s 1991 season
Talked all the shit but not gonna change my mind.
92 MJ was the best.
@@manamongstboyz8956 but this is about Jordan's peak, not his best team season.
Samuel Pérez García his peak was definitely the first 3 peat but his game was more all around better in the second 3 peat
True
37 PPG and defensive player of the year! Hard to top that.

93/94 the team was already established, the team was built already so they knew how to adjust but the prob is in the crunch time, pippen cannot carry the tension when winning is on the line, same fate he had shown during the blazers

rattlehead54321 I was in attendance for a Michael Jordan Playoff game his rookie year. In Milwaukee vs the Bucks.
I think his greatest achievement is being grounded even though we called him Air Jordan. So humble, a very good example of sportsmanship that future generations can emulate. For me he was good his whole career. Been so blessed to have witnessed such greatness firsthand.
1988 he won the defensive player of the year
Man this dude called Jordan one of the greatest. When he's clearly the 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
He doesn't want to trigger lebron's dickriders.
"Man this dude called Jordan one of the greatest"He was being GENEROUS. Jordan had FIVE seasons where he couldn't even get his team to .500. Pathetic.
You got it rite. The GOAT!
Emmanuel Enyinwa 6 seasons going to the finals and winning it all > 3 out of 8 tries yuck
1993. 41 points per game in finals.
@Tyler Vincent You're the first person I've seen mention this. Pippen shot under 39% or less in several playoff runs, and never dominated a Finals offensively. In fact, he usually disappointed and MJ had to carry even more of the load.
Oh yes.
vs Charles Barkley who was mvp of the league that year.......and did it again years later vs Malone.......more goat materials.........
Keyboard Legend Facts bro MJ the goat and it’s not even close 🐐
@Tyler Vincent Pippen was the real MVP in the 1991 Finals.
Then before the 4th title is when his fade-away and post-game went from like a 9.5/10 to a 10/10 as he polished them up even more
I’m not really sure which season he was at his “peak”
I believe he averaged 41ppg in that series wasn't he.
abdul chairy
I agree also he has played the olympics that year so he had no rest that off season
Those are great choices. The 1987-1988 season is a popular opinion, I can definitely see where you're coming from on that.
How the hell did you leave out him leading in steals in 1987?

96 chicago bulls was the best team and Michael was on his absolute peak. Perfect balance of atheleticism, skills and experience. And that mastery of turn -around-fadeaway.
MJ's 96' Bulls was him at his best! 33 yrs old returning after retirement, 72-10 regular season/ nearly unbeatable in playoffs! Best Bulls team of the 6 titles, arguably the best-ever NBA team of all-time!!!
For me the first championship edged out the '96 team but that one was easily second for me for the exact reasons you described.

MJ's 86-87 season is insane. You're not giving it its due justice. He was a madman that year-proving to the world that he was BACK and would not be stopped.

Yeah the Rose jab was so necessary. It isn't enough his career fell apart like his knees... 9_9 Grow up.
Nice job. The only thing I’d add under the season highlights would be in 1992-1993 when he averaged 41 points per game in the Finals against the Phoenix Suns which is the highest ppg average in NBA Finals history. Also, what Arthur McKelvie mentioned below about his 87-88 DPOY which I forgot about when I watched this.
personally i think 92-93 was his best season
Mr Orange agreed 💯
How if he didn't win MVP, didn't have the best record in the league or even in the East, and his shooting % slightly dropped to 49%, which is amazing for a shooting guard, but low for MJ's standard.
@@anthonynegron788 the eye test, stats don't mean everything...his percentage dropped because he shot more jumpers

I agree 1991-1992 was Jordan's greatest season.
You don't think they look alike?
Jordan's best season was when he played in the NBA.
There is no fricking way you can call this guy inconsistent I mean having 10 consecutive scoring titles, 5 mvps, 6 fmvp and rings, 2 Olympic gold medals and a dpoy to decorate his hof cabinet is enough to call this man the greatest of all time.
You definitely right.. MJ best basketball player ever.
from the 1986-87 season till 1993 Michael Jordan was spectacular
Bird and king had their highest ppg of their careers in 84. Jordans 28.2 is higher than either bird or kings next best season.
In his rookie year for the 84-85 season, the Bulls fell to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Playoffs. Mike has always made the playoffs with the Bulls.

Best season - 72 wins and champs. Play for wins not stats. No trying to get triple doubles, trying to pass someone on the scoring list, Definitely no losing with a 3-1 advantage. The greatest player plays to win, the greatest team plays to win. Everyone there should consider that their best season.
He had the easiest 50 pts game I ever saw that year against Detroit. So efficient and it was just fun to watch. 53 points on 75% shooting.
No no no no. MJ IS the greatest player of all time!
In NBA 2k best Jordan is 95-96 🤔🤔
I wanna say his famous signature “JUMPMAN” logo wasn’t from his free throw line dunk but from a Air Jordan add showing him jumping about to dunk?!

He will always be the greatest in my eyes and the way he came back from retirement twice and was always a top gunner is amazing. No one talks much about his old man stats with the Wizards. Combined he still averaged 21 points, 1.5 steals, 4.5 assists, 6 rebounds, with 36 mins, and still shooting 45% from the field. Everyone was raggin on him for not putting up 30 per game while I sat back amazed at this old man and his complete game. Also did I mention he played SF those seasons? MJ is GOAT.
Yep 90-91 was his peak. People don't understand. During his second three peat, he was out of his prime but still MJ.
Redo this with the DPOY award. This deserves much more recognition that it gets
Lonzo ball? are you serious?
Lmao
87-88 Greatest Season of any basketball player Ever.
What about wilts 50 pt, 25 reb, and 7 assist season?
90-91 without a doubt. watch the games and you'll agree.
Yes. That was his apex. With the added muscle, he still maintained pretty much all of his all time athleticism.
'87 = first out of only three players in NBA history to ever record 200+ steals w/ 100+ blocks in a season
'88 = only one to do so twice, earning him the DPOY
'89 = career highs in season rpg, apg, & triple-doubles
etc...
@2:25 knowing how much of a competitor that Bird is, it surprises me to see that clip of him helping Michael back to his feet during the 63-point game. That showed a lot of respect and class there.
Lmao yeah, I recall Larry Bird said he was like God in a basketball uniform on that day or something like that
I believe the exact quote was "God disguised as Michael Jordan." But yeah. Awesome line and it proved to be pretty accurate for the guy's whole career.
You defiled yourself by excluding his defensive accomplishments- the very thing that separates him from the other past and CURRENT all-time greats
I agree with 1990 series. Also great video.
1988
he won DPOY that year didn't he? one of the only guards in history to win it!
I think so too...he was MVP an DOPTY in the same year...as well as All-Star MVP...
nob 1992......
Yeah, 1988 was definetly a season that separates MJ from pretty much everybody else. He led the league in points (35.0) and steals (3.16). Are you kidding me!!? He earned Defensive Player Of The Year and a scoring-title the same season! Unreal, and if im not mistaken, unmatched too.
for 1985-86 you should have said 63 points against one of the greatest teams of all time in his second season like that's something very special
many times MJ has been rob in MVP
You should read Bill Simmons’s take on Karl Malone winning the 97’ MVP over Jordan.
and Bird wasn't ?
This guy definitely don't acknowledge MJ's defensive accolades. He won a defensive player of the year award and should mention his all NBA and defensive team citations. He also won all-star MVPs and Finals MVPs.
IMO Jordan retired due to having no competition, as a pure competitor without much competition it must have been tough. Then returning when people started to doubt him gave him the competitive drive to then become the best in the world again.
Matthew Dearnley he retired because of the death of his father and probably some other behind the scenes situations with the nba’s David Stern.
He did make the playoffs in his rookie season!!!!!
I notice that miss as well. Also no mention of DPOY in 88
1992 - 1993 Jordan best season
I like 90-91 as a choice because he climbed to the top with team success which at the time had to be a huge relief for him. I also think although his numbers had been better in the 80's he still had all of his athleticism but played more in control in a successful team situation.
He took down the Pistons and Lakers in the playoffs which was very symbolic showing it was the Bulls time.
The Bulls did make the playoffs in MJ’s rookie year 🤦♂️
You narrative was calm and to the point. Clip selections were also great. This video deserves at least 1M views. All the best!
Dude u left things out. what about his DPOY year? glaring hole man. I'll leave it at that.
I agree, should have been included. Also I made the error that they did make it to they playoffs in his first year. Other than those 2 things, I stand by the video Tim.
This is what TH-cam was made for! Thank you!
great vidoe! but you forgot the finals mvps.
* video
Yeah everyone would assume he would be Finals MVP, it would be crazy if he wasn't. Just figured it went without saying.
0:00 a legend was born
95-96 best
For me it is tough between ‘93 and ‘96. I feel like he has better in ‘93 but he led his team to be much better then anybody else, ever, in ‘96.
And they say Kobe Bryant was THAT good? LOL
@Basketball's Best You made an ERROR: You said" Bulls didn't make the playoffs in MJ rookie season. MJ made the playoffs every year he played with the Bulls. GREAT VIDEO!!!!! 7/26/19
The dunk against the Dallas mavericks was the dunk that symbolizes the Jordan logo!
LOL, the shade thrown to D Rose @ 2:49-2:53 is too funny.
Great documentary...
Thanks for all details....
I'm an MJ and bulls fan....
nothing could beat the GOAT...
1:55 The 84-85 Bulls DID make a playoff appearance against the Milwaukee Bucks and, in fact, got their only playoff win during Jordan's first three years.
I always thought of 95-96 as his best season but you convinced me.
Thank you I knew he said it was the 91 season I wasn’t trying to make sure
1991. Driven and determined to win it all while realizing he needed to create and share the ball. Great chemistry on that team
MVP's, scoring titles, and leading great team's makes him the greatest ever.
5:40 - "The bulls maintained their confidence because I think this was one of the years Lebron was in Miami". LMFAOOOOOO
Greatest season by any player in NBA history.
MJ in 88-89:
Lead in scoring 33pts per gm
average 8 rebounds
average 8 assists
average 3 steals per game!
Won dunk contest
Won all star game mvp
Won league MVP
Won Defense player of the year
Lead league in steals
Had over 250 steal in that year
And over 130 block shots in that year.
The G.O.A.T!
Basketballs best seasons had michael j. Jordan in them. Great video always thanks
