When they film some Doctor Who in Newport, they said it was Chinatown in London. So I think it’s on film companies do. The lovely video anyway good fun.
Brilliant video Sarah and Andrew. Loved the light hearted bits too. It's giving us an excuse to visit Looe again to have a look also. We're sure some of the original press releases said a new series set in Looe, Cornwall, so we were confused when they tagged it to Devon?
This was so fun! Love is much larger than I imagined it! I’ve been a Kris Marshall fan since Love Actually. I super enjoyed the first episode - it was so cool that it was released the same day here in USA as it was in England. I’ve stayed in Cornwall a few times and loved it.
I've been a fan of Kris Marshall since he starred in 'My Family' on TV. He was hilarious in that just as he was in 'Love Actually' and 'Death in Paradise'. Absolute genius!
We were excited to see Looe on Beyond Paradise, having visited a few times. We visited Port Isaac a couple of weeks ago, returning from our St Ives Ives holiday. The doc’s house is up for sale - and still advertised as a holiday let; lovely but very pricey!! Thanks for a very interesting & entertaining video - you were quick off the mark ☺
It’s been For Sale for nearly a year, starting at well over a million. It will probably stay as a holiday home though, way too expensive as a family home! Sarah :(
I was delighted to see Kris Marshall in “Beyond Paradise” he was my favourite detective in “Death in Paradise” thank you Sarah & Andrew for your detective work proving this new series was filmed in Looe “Cornwall” and yes It is good enough! there are so many beautiful places they could have filmed it, I wouldn’t like to choose one over the other…..but if I was a film director I would consider you both for a part in this series, Andrew’s acting skills are phenomenal 😮😅👌
I love Looe, I'm off there in a couple of days to do the coastal path to Ploperro, stopping off for a paddle in the rock pools at Hannafore and the little bats on the way to Polperro. My daughter lives in St Cleer, near Liskeard.
What a laugh! Back in late September of last year (2022) when my wife Tracey and I spent those few days on holiday in Looe, we took a stroll around the West Looe quay area. We were close to Dave's Diner and the fish processing buildings between the quay and the Guildhall when we came across an area that was cordoned off right next to the Guildhall Piazza itself. We saw a mixture of people with police cars, film cameras, audio equipment and so on. At first we thought there'd been some kind of incident until it became apparent that the people were actually a film crew. Being naturally curious, we asked a member of the crew whether they were making a documentary or something else. To our surprise we were told that it was going to be a drama programme. To cut a long story short, she told us what it was going to be... only a spin off of 'Death in Paradise' to be called 'Beyond Paradise', staring Kris Marshall reprising his old part as DI Humphrey Goodman! That was it! We spent most of the day watching Kris Marshall (one of my favourite actors) acting scenes, doing retakes, etc. for the programme. We couldn't hear what they were saying, but it was fascinating nonetheless. I took loads of photos of Kris and others for posterity! We even volunteered to be extras but sadly were told thank you, but our services were not required 😒 ha,ha! But you are totally right, Sarah and Andrew. Why film on location in a beautiful well known Cornish town and then base the storyline of the series in Devon? 'Shipton Abbot', indeed! It's like making a drama programme in Torbay and then basing the storyline of the series as a seaside town in Cornwall. Oh, and I have to say that Tracey and I are much like you in that we love to visit locations used in making various drama series'. Needless to say that we've paid one or two visits to Port Issac. But that's another story. 😄
😂 🤩great video giving LOOE proper credit!!! I’m from the USA and I recognized right away. Hey that’s the fab Quirky boutique in LOOE not Devon ?! 🤣. I visited Looe last summer & really enjoyed seeing familiar sites again❣️Glad to see Kris Marshall back again too on Beyond Paradise!
I'm a bit partial to Cornwall having visited last September but that also means I can't compare it to Devon as we only drove through and didn't stop. We stayed in Millendreath and walked (or climbed) for about a mile to get to Looe. Tide was out but a sunny, beautiful day. Loved this quaint village. Still a bit crowded for being off season. The huge pasties from Sarah's Pasty Shop were delicious. Thanks for your videos. It's wonderful to relive our holiday, discover new places and learn about the history of this county and its people.
I thought you would track down the locations. I already know it was Cornwall from your previous videos so never heard the TV series reference to Devon so it did not spoil my enjoyment. Glad you got to revisit. Thanks for sharing.💟
Such a fun video. I found this new show on Britons and can't wait to see it. But I must first watch Death in Paradise. I love your walk today showing the filming location. You always feature the best British shows so I have something delicious to look forward to. Thanks so much for the walk around Looe.💕
Cornwall has had its share of exposure with programmes such as Wycliffe and Doc Martin, maybe the producer thought they wouldn’t get the audience with yet another Cornish programme so decided to say it was Devon.
Thanks so much for making this fun video. We finally chose the South Coast of Cornwall and Looe as our next stop after Plymouth, because of “the Doc Martin Effect”, and will enjoy some scene spotting while there. We are Kiwis, so it’s a long loooooong way from home.
Love this, so glad you cleared up the Archway question, I know Looe very well and i had to pause and look closely at that Archway and ponder where on earth that was as i had never come across it in Looe. I absolutely love this program and i am sure it will be as popular as Doc Martin and i think Looe, like Port Isaac, is going to need a bigger car park. Lol.
Another trivial observation. In the episode the Murder happened in a large house set in a woodland. In the inside shots you can see a Cornish flag set in the brick wall.
Hello dear sarah &andrew ,thank you for showing the filming location from beyond paradise ,we love death in paradise and we can't wait to watch the new series here in germany (it takes ages to syncronicise it in german🙄).we went to launceston last september and we parked near this arch.so much fun to watch you doing the film scenes🤣🤣🤣 we love it!!!!!what a joy ,thank you so much ,greetings from hamburg😊
I love your videos but this is my favorite. You are such a great couple and it's so much fun watching you discover the sets. Really contagious. I will finally fulfill my dream of Cornwall this summer. I'm from Germany and I can't wait. I have enough inspiration from you. Thanks a lot
So interesting! Being Canadian, I truly wouldn’t have a clue about any of the places. I just realized that Beyond Paradise had even been filmed just the other day. I had seen Kris’ name mentioned lately but I just thought they were sending him back to Guadeloupe! Thanks for the info and entertainment!❤🇨🇦
To include the iconic town bridge in the trailer was a dead giveaway that it was filmed in Looe. And like you, I went on street view to find the arch in Launceston. The police office interior could easily be shot at a studio location, after all some of Poldark was shot in a studio in Bristol.
Oh, this one was a treat! Watched Beyond Paradise yesterday on catch up & shame on me, couldn't figure out where it was filmed🎥...even though I've been to Looe a zillion times!🙃 My daughter knew it was Looe though! I did read somewhere that the people of Looe arn't too happy about the possibility of it becoming another Port Isaac though? Love Death in Paradise...have watched it from Ben Miller through to Ralph Little so was a bit sceptical about a spin off but it was actually great fun to watch. Funny and sad at the same time. Watch out Looe....the tourists are coming!👨👩👧👨👩👧👦👨👩👧👧 x J x
When we were filming in Looe, I think people were just bemused that they have taken a popular Cornish town and branded it as Devon. Given the rivalry between the counties, they are pushing the envelope! Sarah :)
Lovely to see all the footage from Looe. I have not visited yet, but it looks beautiful 🥰 The series Beyond Paradise is also unknown to me, but I can perhaps subscribe to Britbox and watch it there 😊
It could be to do with where they could get permission to film. Some residents may have protested against it and the local council vetoed filming. Just thinking off the top of my head as to why they’re filming in Cornwall. Apparently a lot of American scenes are actually filmed in Vancouver, Canada.
Great detective work Sarah & Andrew or should I say (Mr Templar & Miss Holmes) you're have Google them to find out who they are. Great fun and Jethro would be laughing at Andrews reference to Camborne sketch. Lovely video and my wife and I saw that it was not Devon and spotted the Looe sites. Great staff. Cheers Bob & Jean
A pier is supposed to have water flowing underneath it that's what makes it a pier. The only one in Cornwall is in Falmouth. Maybe I'm wrong but I've worked on boats for years and that's what I was always told x
Great fun again Sarah and Andrew 👌😁... definitely recognise all the shots in Looe. It does seem odd to say it's set in Devon but it's actually Cornwall...but I guess it's a compliment 😋. Really enjoying the new series anyway...and we need something to replace Doc Martin don't we 😊✊😘
Excellent Sarah! We love looe God knows why they say it's in devon and this is from a devonian It's cornwall so say it is lol keep it up your both proper 👏
If they dare to tread into cream tea territory, perhaps we then know they are aware if their blunder! Noticed a fish box last night, clearly labelled Cornwall! Sarah :)

Can anyone tell me where the CROP CIRCLE was filmed. Was it made for the film or did they use an existing one? Thanks.
Looe is a fantastic little village, I was watching Beyond Paradise and thinking I know that place, that's not in Devon. Great video
The fact they are portraying a Cornish town as Devon has caused quite a stir here! Very confusing! Sarah :D

Doc Martin’s surgery interior was a set in a farm nearby at Roscarrock! Fern Cottage is way too small to house s film crew! So maybe! Sarah
