  • the 1968 bus is the first of the 2nd gen bus line and is growing in popularity as the prices of the first-year skyrocket. known as the bay window they are larger and more reliable then the first gen. watch as I get this neglected camper back to road ready shape.

It definitely was the most iconic vehicle at the Grateful Dead concert tailgate party . Traveled in a micro bus to one in Glens falls Upstate N.Y. . Also when I was in my twenties worked with a sheet rock crew and the forman used to pick us all up in one [ good ol days]

Those 1600 cc engines must have been detonation proof because they were always lugging under so much pressure . Mine was an orange 1974 Super bettle when the 1600 started leaking alot of oil put in a 1776cc with dual del orto carbs ,, Wow what a wake up call that was for the tiny front brake drums. NICE too see u give this one a second chance.

Very sweet bus and thanks for posting. Despite the title of this video, I agree it looks like a far more rare (at least in the US) Dormobile but there were a few other, mostly British, side openers. Viking Spacemaker was another. I don't know if you found a tag or not. I don't know enough to tell the difference from what little you showed.
The interior looks Westfalia to me, but I don't know Dormobile well. There were westies made with different tops in Europe, but again this appears to be on a regular passenger bus unless they changed the camper jalousie windows for some reason. Still a very sweet old bus and very, very rare in US.
I love your fuel hose and filter safety. Keep passing the word. But I wouldn't get J30R14 hoses (Gates Barricade) and FI clamps (get the good ones with rounded edges that don't cut).
If you do use the "Chinese finger trap" method, cut the hose off, don't tug and plan on replacing it often. It is J30R3 (or something) and isn't rated for modern (terrible) ethanol fuel. That old style hose is really miserable however. The main reason VWs burn often.
