I buy a field find 35 year old Volvo 740 GL Saloon that has been sat parked up for at least 3 years. I attempt to get it running in preparation for taking it back to the workshop.
Nice to see a 740 Saloon. Bet the estate version sold in higher numbers and saloon more rare. Lovely to hear it purring like a kitten! Great to have you back on youtube. Look forward to more 740 and Volvo content.
Well that was quick :D Awesome, that you acquired a project so fast :) The deep cleaning of that thing will be awesome I suspect, hopefully it turns out well. Fingers crossed, that you can find and fix all the (minor, fingers crossed) problems :P
I belive the previous owner. My first car was Saab 99 and I crashed it on side of a hilux. Whole truck bed was pushed inward while my Saabs bumber just had dent like that. I'm not even a Volvo enthusiast. I like old BMW's, but I've watched all your videos and I'm glad your back.
This is terrible news. Just as I was getting over owning a 32 year old Volvo, forgetting the hours of rusty bolts, blocked PCVs, knackered turbo chargers and leaking head gaskets you pop back up and torture me with that rasping hiss of a b230 and “there we go guys, they just start and run”. No, can’t do it again 🤣 Glad to see you back at it Sledge!
Yeah, how terrible is that. It started first time after you put oil in the sump and then no need to fix anything, so no content. Tragedy. It will polish up beautifully and be somebodies pride and joy again. There's plenty of content to be had when polishing it. the cobwebs, the moss growing on the outside, headliner. There is always something you can do to improve a car. Thanks for saving another Volvo. It's good to see you back.
Great vlog. I owned a 1989 740GLE 2.3/4 auto estate. I sold at 140k miles.i sold it to a prison officer living in the midlands and commuting to Northern Ireland.. he took it to 300k before the gearbox failed. The only thing was the fuel consumption when towing a small boat - 16 mpg
Happy to see a 740 sedan. They look so weird and so cool at the same time with the very steep rear window. Will she get a name? Remdinds me of the very blue Olly you had back in the days.
I agree. My 1989 740 TIC had the broader grill that filled the entire space between the headlights. I´ve always thought that that design looked much better than the facelift from 1990 - but Volvo somehow meant they had to come up with a change after 6 years of production of the 740.... Good to see Involvo´d back in business!!👍
Hi Sledge...... Thats a great find. For all youre oils, antifreeze, and transmission fluid etc i highly recommend "Westway lubriants" a brilliant company.
waiting for some kjet volvos content, eitherway, great finding running strong as it was just parked yesterday, it look like my car, its a 1990 with that bonnet/hood only mine is a kjet/b230e one and thats prolly get you a lot of content if you are working on something you never worked on, just saying.
This was very quick transition from "I don't know when there will be new Volvo content" to "Hey, look. I have another Volvo"
That thing starts better than my '91 940 with 350k kilometers on the clock. Great find with such low mileage.
Start better than mine and it on road most days😂
So happy you have decided to continue your wonderful channel 👍🤗🤗🤗
Glad to have you back! :)
Yes...a bonus...great to have you back on .....
Great to have you back!
I AM SO HAPPY YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!!!! My Sundays are complete again. :) 🎉❤
Great to see the return of the old Sledge. I know that you can make this old lady young again. Take care.
Great! And we are back to regular volvo program! :D. Nice score with the 740! Should clean up nicely!
Great you're back "all in" Sledge! This is a very nice car, ideal for resurrection ❤
What a beauty! Purring like a kitten!
Nice color!
Looking forward to the detailing video.
Nice to see you again Paulie, I think we are joined at the hip with what we are subbed to!

Another one saved 😃
Nice one dude! You have to love a Volvo!
Wow, I wasn't expecting it to start on the button. These engine are superb so I shouldn't be surprised.
It's good to see the enthusiasm for your return! Ask Santa for a portable tyre inflator ...
Fantastic vid! Makes me want a 740 estate even more. It’d compliment my Amazon well I think 😅

Nice one buddy, remember I'm still looking
Good to see another 'facelift' getting some love :)
Bought a 744 SE that had been sitting since 2012. Just changed the oil and brakes and drove a 100km trip with no problems. Solid cars

So glad your back, ive missed your videos
Good stuff 👍
The car looks pretty good apart from the bumper. I have a P2 XC70 and I really fancy a 740. Great stuff
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
Not surprised in no more than 4 cranks it starts. God I love redblocks

this made me so happy! good to have you back!
Volvo "brick" vs brickwall. "brick" wins!
Happy to see a 740 sedan. They look so weird and so cool at the same time with the very steep rear window. Will she get a name? Remdinds me of the very blue Olly you had back in the days.
Excellent happy days as Pink Floyd said all in all it's just another Volvo and a brick wall 😊
Nice spare wheel
9:07 Thats exactly what old Volvos are known for.
We could only dream of finding a Volvo like that here in the rust belt of S.W. Ontario, Canada. ENVIOUS!
Thanks
Welcome back😊
How do you keep finding them ;) That's unbelievable! I keep seeing your old 740, Oly online on various Volvo groups 👍
I think this is a 1990 Volvo 740. its a facelift model and has a square dash.

Thats a great find.
For all youre oils, antifreeze, and transmission fluid etc i highly recommend "Westway lubriants" a brilliant company.
a new bumper and a polish, good for another 150k
It would be so much pleasure for me to make it shiny again… :)

Of course it will❤(before I've seen the video)
was this the one on facebook marketplace?
I have the same car 740 GLE 16 valve
Rip brick wall
haha yeah there is no way I would put my fingers in the holes of that wheel with the amount of webs in it either.
This car has had 8 owners in 35 years and its only done 147k miles that's a bit strange, MOT history is good though nothing major.
Sweden 🇸🇪 massive
why would someone just leave such a great car sat there...weird.
CATALYSER? Are volvo trying to play off that catalytic converters are cool?😭🤣
Well back in the 90's it was something to brag about...🤷♂
ofcourse it'll run, its a volvo
Edit: Told you
