very helpful video i am about to do a tuneup on my 08 town and country tomorrow and this helps alot. now i know all i need is my snap on swivel head 3/8 ratchet and my matco spark plug swivel head extension spark plug set and a small flat head screw driver 👌 much love from st louis MO
Thank You. I just recently purchased a T&C with the 3.8l and just wanted the basics to make sure it was a job that wasn't insane. I had a 1992 voyager that the back plugs were a royal pain. This is actually much easier than my Subaru that I did a couple weeks ago.
For some reason, my mechanic is too scared to try and take these out of my van. He says they're rusted. He said I should try and find someone who would dare take them out. Well, I dare...so thanks for the knowledge. I'm trying it tomorrow.
Thanks for the video; I usually am leery about doing tune ups on some of those front drive minivans, but this seems relatively simple. Also, to echo what the other guy said, genius idea on the spark plug boot for installing new plugs. Having read my share of auto repair manuals, they said rubber hoses work, but who has them laying around? You gave me the confidence to give this a shot.
Thanks for the instruction! Easy to understand. Worked like a charm! THANKS! Just be advised: on my 2009 Town and Country Anniversary Edition 3.8L the odd numbers on the coil head go 1, 5, 3 from left to right. Take care to place the wires on the correct cylinders numbers
@@BarboursAutoHelp sorry I’m a little dumb, there’s fuel on my spark plug not oil I was going down the wrong rabbit hole.. next I’ll be checking fuel injectors and the distributor
Thanks for the video! I purchased a coil pack also. I noticed you did not replace yours. Our van was bought used with 170+miles on it and since it feels like its slipping on occasion, I was told I should do a tune up (although I am curious if this is a speed relay because ABS and traction lights come on). Do you recommend changing the pack too? Also, you mentioned a torque wrench - I don't have one of those. Is this a necessity? I usually watch a TH-cam video before my DIY but suppose I should get a maintenance manual since I don't know what the manufacturer recommends 😬. Thanks again for your video and help!

Thanks a bunch!
Great video. I'm always leery about starting spark plugs with a socket. Using an old wire boot is GENIUS. Thanks for the tip!
Me too. Gonna tackle this this weekend
@patrickellis2626 Lemme know if you have questions

@@BarboursAutoHelp it's a Chrysler town and country 2008 3.8 liter engine
I understand. So whats the question?
So what is the green wire in back of the engine that plugs in To something

I have a 2008 and i bought a new coil. Instead saying 1,3,5 it say 5,1,3. What should I do? Still follow 1,3,5 or 5,1,3? Thanks a million..
There’s oil on one of my 6 plugs I’m not sure how I would reach the O Ring to replace the seal, seeing how they don’t go throw the valve cover
huh?

What kind of spray I can use to clean the spark plugs
