Shame you can't set Import Tariffs though as a way of getting revenue and supporting local production. Or set Import Quotas. Doesn't seem that you can give industries subsidies either, only lower their taxes. I guess the import price of all the goods is always identical to the domestic price?
@@ChazTB a lot of that would be cool and I can imagine a mod would be able to create that functionality as there’s already a “cost” for businesses when they import materials which impacts their profitability. So something that allows you to modify that cost yourself might work like an import tariff. You can provide subsidies, it mentions this in the video. You basically give them negative taxes. This can then be recouped somewhat when the goods are sold if you tax them in the commercial tax section.

The level of design and contemplative thought of how to implement every new feature put into Cities II is simply astounding. I give kudos to the PM and Dev teams for making such a beautiful game built off the foundation of the first entry.
Will The Sun have a realistic path across the Horizon in different seasons / regions. ie: the Arctic Circle & Midnight Sun etc.. ? Also will the Moon be realistic looking ?.. I'm already sold on the game, but as an amateur sky watcher having a realistically good looking sky in this game will be the cherry on top of the cake. 😊
Wow.... So now you will have to plan ahead for your forest industries and building forest way in advance. I really love this idea as it was quite unrealisstic before. Simply put down a forest and there you go. The new economic features in this game have me really excited !!
That sounds amazing, although it's complex enough that it will have to be seen how well it actually works in game. One problem I had in previous city simulation games was that there seemed to often be only one "correct"/"optimal" way to play, and that's to make everything a high-tech, high-education paradise where everything is "perfectly balances". That's ok, but a true economic simulation would give me many more options to design cities in all sorts of different ways. I hope your new system fulfills that criteria!
If this game is what these trailers make it seem like, then this is the game I wanted Simcity 2013 to be a decade ago. If someday there's a "Cities: Skylines 2: Cities of Tomorrow" or something like that, I might have found a new favorite game
It would be really nice to have the option of state owned industry to simulate a socialist or (even more realistic) social democratic countries like nordic countries. Trying to have certain crucial industries state owned(like water, trains, and electricity) would be nice to improve the residents happiness
This basically is the case, seeing as in this game you manage some form of government that is responsible for building, maintaining, and selling / distributing water, electricity, telecommunications, etc. That goes beyond what the government is responsible for in the US for example.
Imagine some kind of political mod where citizens had to vote in a mayor or something, and based on who is in office at the time and what the citizens vote for, certain policies could be locked in place, taxes set to a certain amount, etc... all outside of the player's control. Then the player would have to build a city that allowed for the most amount of citizens to be happy based on those policies in order for the city to grow and develop.
nice idea... problem is, that will show to everyone the failure of democracy and some kind of cubargenzuelezque state. Unlesssssss.......... they had good education to avoid some comunist regime to appear, which is also nice since it's a game (pheeeew). I support your idea. It would give personality to any city...
@@Overxpossed when they said "real world economics" I was wondering "which one?" Also the idea that all imported goods are more expensive for your city means there's no cheap, exploitative foreign labor making clothes, toys, computer chips, etc. in CS2. I feel like with CS:2 we're finally seeing the benefit of all the DLC we had to pay for in CS:1. Thank you so much for adding all the best ideas that we funded you to experiment with. I feel like this is the game you always wanted to make. 😍
For me it's the plain grey textures on streets and houses driveway. I really hope there will be other textures on final release. In CS1 the streets looked more realistic (texture). More dirty. A "Used" look. Black spots and degraded crosswalks/road markings from tires etc. in CS2 everything looks way too clean.
I really want to just build cities/villages without all that (it's good though!). So I'm more interested in how or if you can create stuff as realistic as possible? Like putting props, make waterditches, (replace) fences, more flexibel surface painter and that kind of things. Super excited about the farms!
This is brilliant, looking like the game is shaping up really well. A good future DLC could be incorporating a political element on top of the economic one. So depending on your industry, education, level of wealth, etc will determine which mayor will be voted in and this represents the values of the general population and whether you get riots, strikes, protests, etc. For example cutting funding to some public services then increases the number of strikes which then impacts the city, like a rail strike then spikes the amount of road traffic. Or organised protests against your new oil endeavour results in gridlock in the city centre. Lots of interesting possibilities. Economic cycles could be incorporated into the game, like a stock market crash and recession then leading to more political issues and social unrest.
one thing from the first game i've been thinking about. once you get plus economy and have all the basic services, you get money all the time without the risk of losing (except in the cases of disasters maybe). so you could just keep the game running for 3 hours and then have an extreme amount of money. is this game the same? or do we have to micromanage it more to ensure it stays "winning"?
In real life, cities first expand on the basis of just one export. Then they grow and diversify. Also, any sensible economist will tell you that the value of imports of a given region, regardless of how you define that region, will always be roughly equal to the value of its exports. Otherwise, there will be an accumulation of unused cash on one side.
It would be amazing if we could control the import exports in much more details. We could have a mini economy simulator right inside the city builder game but I think this game is going in a different route so I wouldn't hold my breath. Imagine specializing in one industry then making tons money from it, you could use that money to develop your city further and give loans and grants to different sectors so they flourish and our economy diversify. They're too many possibilities. Giving player more control over the economy would open up new ways to enjoy the game. Right now when your city gets steady it becomes quite boring because you're only managing traffic and expanding services here and there. In the preview you can see the mini version of this. You can control the specific products by raising or lowering taxes but It would be amazing to have more controls over the production chains.
@@MusikTeleVision5 Well, how do you define a trade deficit anyway? You need to consider that money always travels in the direction opposite to goods and services. If money accumulates on one side of the trade, that automatically means goods and services produced on the other side become more affordable for export -- but less affordable for the local market. The fact this is not happening shows that the current situation is sustainable ad vitam aeternam. In general, those who talk about trade deficit look only at consumer goods without considering services such as consulting and, yes, goods to be used exclusively as production factors.
Oh it's Monday! How I know? Well the day wasn't good, typical for a Monday, but then a new Feature Highlight was uploaded by CS2! Also as always: Pause the video as much as possible to get as much sneak peek as possible ;)

@@SLMPP1 probably, I am still hoping the game will run on more then 1 core of the cpu, if they implement that im sure the game would at least perform better
This is shaping up to be one hell of a city simulator. Can’t wait!
yea
I thought excited Mondays are over😅😅
Thank you so much.
You made my Monday so better.
I'm cutrently stuck in a line to ride the boat, it's been like 50 minutes of standing in one place.
This made my day better.
I gotta stay up until 7 AM for this😂
For me it's like 4 PM so I don't have to worry

The level of design and contemplative thought of how to implement every new feature put into Cities II is simply astounding. I give kudos to the PM and Dev teams for making such a beautiful game built off the foundation of the first entry.
Will The Sun have a realistic path across the Horizon in different seasons / regions. ie: the Arctic Circle & Midnight Sun etc.. ?
Also will the Moon be realistic looking ?.. I'm already sold on the game, but as an amateur sky watcher having a realistically good looking sky in this game will be the cherry on top of the cake. 😊
Also do we still Have 'Recreational use' Policy... asking for a friend.

I love these episodes. They are perfect for keeping my hype high.
هل من الممكن اضافة اللغة العربية في هذا الاصدار الجديد انا متشوق جدا ❤
ياليت والله
Every video makes me more hype. This feels like a proper sequel.
I hope they implement some sort of credit rating system, where loans become cheaper the more dependable you prove at paying them off
lol we have a 400K million debt of usd in my country.
I’ve never been so happy to see features like dis, brings tears to ma eyes 🥲
AWESOME CAN'T wait to tax them just like the USA dose! EXCEPT MORE!
Wow.... So now you will have to plan ahead for your forest industries and building forest way in advance. I really love this idea as it was quite unrealisstic before. Simply put down a forest and there you go. The new economic features in this game have me really excited !!
Never have I been so excited for taxes as I am now
I'm honestly loving how this game is panning out, can't wait for it to come out now
isnt this episode 9
Prob a typo, they'll correct it soon. Or not.
I love the Look with a few windows with Light on on the skyscapers
Well this aged like milk didn't it
Omg I love how deep we can go and I’m sure you’ll add more with DLC. Keep these coming!! Love it!
This aged well.
Isn't it Ep 9?
If this game is what these trailers make it seem like, then this is the game I wanted Simcity 2013 to be a decade ago. If someday there's a "Cities: Skylines 2: Cities of Tomorrow" or something like that, I might have found a new favorite game
It would be really nice to have the option of state owned industry to simulate a socialist or (even more realistic) social democratic countries like nordic countries. Trying to have certain crucial industries state owned(like water, trains, and electricity) would be nice to improve the residents happiness
THIS
This basically is the case, seeing as in this game you manage some form of government that is responsible for building, maintaining, and selling / distributing water, electricity, telecommunications, etc. That goes beyond what the government is responsible for in the US for example.
I'm the opposite. I'd prefer nothing state owned. Private enterprise all the way.
@@mephInc Key word here is "option" - Just as you have the option to build a walkable city or a car-centric city at your own whim.
@@mephInc Good luck having that in cities skylines lol
This is the most mind blowing and best dev diary so far in my opinion! Keep up the fabolous work cities skylines devs!
@@Overxpossed when they said "real world economics" I was wondering "which one?" Also the idea that all imported goods are more expensive for your city means there's no cheap, exploitative foreign labor making clothes, toys, computer chips, etc. in CS2.
That could be interesting though - a policy or other method where you can import cheap goods but lose most of your industry capacity.
@@carlsiouxfalls 👏👏👏👏👏 lol yeah... why they should be expensive than local production if imports can be brought from India. GOOD POINT!!!
This game's gonna be a HUGE success if theses weekly highlights are accurate
Dear developers of KSP2, this is how you launch a game.
They haven't launched the game yet
I am sooo freakin’ stoked!!! Cannot wait the see the final result! ❤
I can’t wait to pre-purchase this game
Just 71 Days to Release 😍
You don't have to wait... you can pre-purchase it now! :D
Hooooold - We don't do this here.
please don't, make sure to wait until release, I mean, there's no difference, just wait, that way we give example of how it should be made
To answer some questions:
• Yes, I know pre-purchasing is live already.
• You may not want to pre-purchase and instead purchase after the game releases, but I would like to pre-purchase the game for the bonuses.
I'm so ready for this game! =D
“integrative tools and clear displays” “user friendly” I’VE BEEN PLAYING FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND DIDNT KNOW ABOUT ANY OF THIS 😭 I even have tutorials turned on! My City’s industry & commercial has been struggling and it seemed like there was nothing I could do about it….. and only now I’m finding out the solution! Dang it 😵💫
I feel like with CS:2 we're finally seeing the benefit of all the DLC we had to pay for in CS:1. Thank you so much for adding all the best ideas that we funded you to experiment with. I feel like this is the game you always wanted to make. 😍
No more sapling fields? Will the harvested forests change dynamically by old trees being removed and new ones being planted?
This is incredible.Great improvement!
Everything in this game is amazing exept the ground textures they look absolutly inconsistently scaled I realy hope they redo them before release
🤡
For me it's the plain grey textures on streets and houses driveway. I really hope there will be other textures on final release.
In CS1 the streets looked more realistic (texture). More dirty. A "Used" look. Black spots and degraded crosswalks/road markings from tires etc.
in CS2 everything looks way too clean.
@@MrDegasi let’s be honest CS1 textures were low quality though
@@TY73R But doesn't it make it worse? The low quality textures already had such details.
@@MrDegasi nah man they just need variations
I really want to just build cities/villages without all that (it's good though!). So I'm more interested in how or if you can create stuff as realistic as possible? Like putting props, make waterditches, (replace) fences, more flexibel surface painter and that kind of things. Super excited about the farms!
I will use the absolute best way to grow:
I will tax the poor and feed the rich.
This is by far my favorite dev diary. Glad supply chains are getting a lot more attention!
I'm going to have no attention span on October 24 in schools when the game will be released.😂😂😂
What you will by not laying ill at home, for a month with Citylities Skylinis? XD
I can’t wait
This is lovely! I love the subsidy option. Really neat to see that integrated.
That’s another DLC for CS2 base game bingo!
Can’t wait to absolutely cripple the automobile industry with the new tax controls!
Employers fired employees? That's what cities skyline should be. Hell yeah
the new ui is looking amazinggg, already seems so much clearer and cleaner than CS1
Is it like capitalism simulation or we can have different approaches about economy???
THIS!!!!
@@user-wq9mw2xz3j i'll wait for expansions and mods
one thing from the first game i've been thinking about. once you get plus economy and have all the basic services, you get money all the time without the risk of losing (except in the cases of disasters maybe). so you could just keep the game running for 3 hours and then have an extreme amount of money. is this game the same? or do we have to micromanage it more to ensure it stays "winning"?
😮
This just keeps getting better, can't wait for it to come out
In real life, cities first expand on the basis of just one export.
Why do so many countries have trade defficits then?
@@MusikTeleVision5 Well, how do you define a trade deficit anyway? You need to consider that money always travels in the direction opposite to goods and services. If money accumulates on one side of the trade, that automatically means goods and services produced on the other side become more affordable for export -- but less affordable for the local market. The fact this is not happening shows that the current situation is sustainable ad vitam aeternam.
In general, those who talk about trade deficit look only at consumer goods without considering services such as consulting and, yes, goods to be used exclusively as production factors.
best one yet!
Can I go a socialist path? Taxing the people and in reward offer free and affordable services?
