Why Cities: Skylines 2 Should Include All Asset Packs and DLCs from Cities: Skylines 1 Cities: Skylines 2 has the potential to be the ultimate city-building game, but it falls short in its current state. While the road system in the sequel is undeniably a significant improvement, offering unparalleled flexibility and realism, the game feels incomplete. This is primarily due to the lack of content that made the original Cities: Skylines such a beloved title. Including all the asset packs and DLCs from Cities: Skylines 1 in the sequel could transform it into a perfect city-building experience. Here’s why: 1. Rich Content Enhances Creativity The original Cities: Skylines flourished because of its extensive library of DLCs and asset packs, which provided players with a vast array of buildings, transportation options, and gameplay mechanics. These expansions allowed players to create unique and vibrant cities, catering to various playstyles. Without this richness, Cities: Skylines 2 feels empty, even with its improved mechanics. Mods can only fill this gap to a certain extent; they often lack the polish and seamless integration of official content. 2. A Year Without Substantial Updates Since its release, Cities: Skylines 2 has seen minimal additions to its content library. This lack of updates has dampened the initial enthusiasm surrounding the game. When Cities: Skylines 2 was announced, expectations were sky-high. Players anticipated a game that would build upon the strengths of its predecessor while introducing new features and content. However, the release felt underwhelming, as the game did not deliver the breadth of content players had hoped for. 3. The Importance of DLCs for Replayability DLCs and asset packs are not just extras; they are essential for replayability. In Cities: Skylines 1, expansions like After Dark, Mass Transit, and Green Cities introduced new mechanics and themes, keeping the game fresh for years. Including these in Cities: Skylines 2 would give players the freedom to build diverse cities, from eco-friendly utopias to bustling metropolitan hubs. This variety is what keeps players engaged long-term. 4. A Perfect Platform for Larger Maps and Greater Freedom Cities: Skylines 2 already offers larger maps and improved mechanics, making it a great foundation for ambitious city-building projects. However, the lack of content limits the game’s potential. By incorporating all the DLCs and asset packs from Cities: Skylines 1, the game could fully realize its promise of providing unparalleled freedom and creativity to players. 5. Reviving Enthusiasm Among Players The initial hype for Cities: Skylines 2 was immense, but the game’s reception has been lukewarm due to its lack of content. Including the extensive library of DLCs and asset packs from the first game would reignite interest and excitement among players. It would show that the developers are committed to making Cities: Skylines 2 the definitive city-building game. Conclusion Cities: Skylines 2 has all the ingredients to be a masterpiece, but it needs the content richness of its predecessor to reach its full potential. The improved road system and larger maps are fantastic, but they cannot compensate for the absence of the DLCs and asset packs that made Cities: Skylines 1 a success. By integrating these features, Cities: Skylines 2 could become the perfect city-building game that fans have been dreaming of.
