@Ryzvtj_ Your diet, that’s the biggest change. Stay hydrated so your chances of constipation lessen. I seen small amount of blood but it wasn’t part of the stool, I kept bugging my doctor about it. I got a colonoscopy three months back and they found a pre cancerous polyp at the age of 23. I had a feeling it was a polyp than IBS, you can’t never be sure especially if you haven’t had a colonoscopy. I don’t want to stress you out but there is some in this comment section who could be confusing their IBS symptoms with something else

    • @crazytimes2004
      @crazytimes2004 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Ryzvtj_ keep bugging them, be annoying it’s your health. After they remove the polyp, they’ll recommend exercising and diet changes. Depending the size of the polyp will predict when will be your next colonoscopy. This is for life now, they put me on fentanyl so I didn’t felt a thing. I first did a sigmoidoscopy without sedation, that was a nightmare lol

I been having diarrhea as well but my doctors appointment isn't until April ! I don't know how long it will take them to diagnose me and I'm so worried because this has been affecting me at work.
But one thing I found out that helped was eating a cup of coconut Greek yogurt. Or just eat something with coconut flakes in it. It helped stopped my diarrhea for 2 days...but I'm back at it again so I ate another cup of coconut Greek yogurt. It seemed to work right away for me.
But don't eat too much bc I read somewhere that it can also make you constipated.

  • @Rayeboonin
    @Rayeboonin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +535

Hey guys I thought I’d add my 2 cents and hope it helps someone. I’ve literally has IBS most of my life (I’m 24) bouncing from constipation to Diarrhea. Sometimes I’ll eat the same things and it will effect me one day but not the other day. So I had to rule out intolerances. I’m pretty much a good eater, eating every food group in moderation also getting in my fruit, veg and I rarely eat junk. I’ve kept a diary of what I eat and what time. After a while I noticed a pattern that it wasn’t necessarily what I was eating but the times I was eating. I have discovered when I eat before 7:30AM or after 7:30PM my food would just digest way too fast resulting in the intense stomach pains and Diarrhea. If I HAVE to eat before 7:30 I have a piece of toast, it’s solid enough to not cause me stomach problems.
So noticing the times to eat has been a huge game changer for me. Also because of the intense pains so frequently and the unknown when you have to leave your house causes such anxiety I do a lot of walking around my local park, getting active to reduce my anxiety and stress. So in short:
    - I try to stay away from processed food as much as possible/ 90% of my meals are home cooked
    - I do not eat before 7:30AM or after 7:30PM - if I have to eat outside of that I’ll eat toast if I’m leaning towards Diarrhea. If I’m constipated I’ll have anything high in fibre maybe a piece of fruit
    - I get active, walking or a few workouts a few times in a week, journal and most importantly I pray, leaving all my burdens to Christ to help control my anxiety. I cannot get through anything without him
    - The mind is powerful, if it panics your stomach will panic! So whenever you’re having a flare up just hold on to the moments or days that you felt better. If you could have better you can always have better days! You do not know what the future holds so stop telling yourself your life is over!
    - Do not be embarrassed about having to use the toilet! We are adults and Why should we choose embarrassment over chronic pain?
    - Those of you who are in school try and get a doctors note about your IBS so you can be excused in class. The note will keep you a little calmer. A calm mind = a calmer stomach!
I am not just saying these things. I have the worst embarrassing stories due to my IBS but just having better days is what has kept me going! I always say if I had a great month of less hassle I can have it again! These are just a few things that work for ME. I just hope I’ve encourage you guys that it can get better and to pay attention and write down everything! That is one thing my doctor has always taught me. Be patience and kind to yourself, the anxiety that comes with IBS doesn’t disappear overnight. Good luck everyone and hope you all get better :) we’re all in it together!
I wish someone had told me all of this earlier! But again hope it encourages you!

@@lalagarcia3844 I've managed to reduce my IBS by as much as 95 percent! How did I do it? It was purely by chance. YOGHURT, YOGHURT and more YOGHURT especially the ones with LIVE BACTERIA CULTURES. Then in addition I take one teaspoon of RAW and UNPROCESSED honey! The two combinations has worked like magic. I don't take the honey anymore as such but I'm still taking the yoghurt. Due to concerns about sugar ( as I take mostly Vanilla flavour ) I have restricted intake to 3 times a week. I combine an unsweetened variant with a sweetened one, 3 tablespoons each, ( both contain live bacteria ) and my stomach has NEVER felt this good in years! This is one of the best videos I have seen on IBS. I was diagnosed with this at 20 after a virus infected my digestive track, mainly the colon, even the initial emergency room doctors didn't know what it was back 40 years ago. My own family doctor of 33 years still doesn't quite understand it but it still is a nightmare to deal with. You never know what your going to end up with. I finally had a gasterontolagist told me to try chicken breast with rice and salad every night. It worked. That's what I have for dinner every night and have for 39 years.

My IBS makes me feel anxious, not the other way around since I don’t have anxiety. Especially when I have an important test, am learning something in class, or when I need to perform in a concert! This video was also really helpful in explaining how it works what it is and what it looks live on a biological level, I love science-y stuff like this especially if it teaches me more about myself and others with this same condition. My dad has it too (he gave it to me XP)

IBS can definitely make you more anxious than you'd normally be, for sure. Sometimes it's a vicious cycle though: those things you mentioned, the important test or performing in a concert can be a little more stressful than your average day, so that can trigger your IBS and then make you feel more anxious about it. Sorry to hear you and your dad both have it - you both might find my channel helpful because I specifically help people with IBS get better!

Waking up 3 hours before work just to sit in the bathroom constantly defecating, taking medications every morning and evening, taking Immodium before heading out and praying that I won't have to go again during the day even though I've emptied everything.
Then eating the same boring lunch every day- plain rice with plain chicken.
Every three weeks I'm having cramping that is so bad I can't even think of sleeping, and no painkiller helps.
Was tested in every possible way and everything is always negative.
I've tried so many dietry changes, tons of different types of medications -even pro biotics, reducing stress, psychological treatment, working out regualrly, acupuncture etc. and absolutly nothing has helped.
I'm in my twenties, supposingly "healthy" and no one takes my IBS seriously.
I've reduced my friend cycle, my activites, hobbies, traveling, trying new food, and seriously considering quitting my job.
At this point, the only thing that makes me feel slightly better is knowing that other people are going through this as well.
Just watching my life pass by as I get older and every "normal" action for me is 10 times harder, so I'm forced to do less- which means I'm not only wasting my life but I'm also suffering pretty much 97% of the time.
And the worst part is I have a phobia of using public bathrooms around people and making noises and such and it only agitates my need to go.
I'm an optimist and I'm never giving up and I know eventually something will change.
But how long do I have to be this way before it does?
btw love you all and for the first time I'm not feeling alone seeing others in this struggle.

This is a great visual explanation of the mechanics of the digestive system! Although when talking about stress, it's not that stress doesn't seem to affect other people (as the vid says) but that it affects other people in different ways. Depending on your constitution and your body's weaknesses, stress can cause different reactions. For people with IBS, it's targeting the digestive system because it's already weaker than it should be. (Other people get coughing fits with stress).

The pain can be so horrible it makes me throw up or want to die. It has given me lifelong anxiety. However, since I’m 37 now and it’s here to stay, I will say these things help: a supportive spouse who understands my needs, hot water bottles for the stomach pain, Imodium, fasting when necessary (especially in the morning), anxiety medication, and not over eating. We struggle in ways others will never understand but I have still been able to travel which was a dream I never thought I could achieve. My heart goes out to everyone who has this.

I have awful anxiety that is only making my IBS worse. My parents are concerned because I am losing a lot of weight. It’s because immediately after I eat, I have diarrhea. I can’t even eat pretzels without having diarrhea afterwards. So, I’ve mostly stopped eating because it isn’t worth the pain. I miss out on fun things with my family because I’m stuck on the toilet for 30-45 minutes having constant diarrhea. It’s terrible. I know it’s all linked to my anxiety, but I don’t know how to get my anxiety to go away. Honestly, IBS is bad, but anxiety is worse for me. I just hate this all so much. I wish my life could be normal again. I’ve had anxiety and IBS since I was about 7 years old, and both of those things ruined parts of my childhood. I couldn’t go on a week-long trip with my class because of my IBS. The trip was apparently really fun. I also missed out on school dances because right when we were about to leave, I would get nervous and have diarrhea. This is awful and I feel like my life is being taken away from me because I am spending so much time on the toilet. Then I’m anxious that I’ll have diarrhea again and I do have diarrhea again because I’m anxious about it! I hate this so much.

I have had this condition since the mid 80s. Nothing was being taught about IBS in those days, so it was hit and miss for many years. I learned, as one day after the other my system responded well or badly on various foods.
Over the years, I went through all sorts of diet changes. These days, I take digestive enzymes, probiotics, and because my condition leans to constipation, two laxative pills: senna and dulcolax. I eat very little red meat, mostly turkey, chicken and fish, and only occasionally will I permit it to be fried.
Rice has always been helpful for me, even regular white rice. Assorted frozen vegetables I can eat if cooked well, with rice or my preference, sweet potato. As for grains, I buy from the health food store oatmeal bread, and eat oatmeal for breakfast, as well as those egg white substitute liquids that I fry in olive oil with a few slices of onion.
Everyone is different and this journey is all about understanding, not me, but yourself and those trigger foods. Other health issues people will often have along with IBS. They can make their lives more challenging because meds can often promote more constipation. The best to you all as you possess your souls in patience.

While IBS is 'idiopathic' which means no cause can be found, there are treatments. Your doctor can prescribe anything from a stool softener, laxative to medication to help with the spasms such as buscopan.

The first time I had a bout of intestinal spasms I was maybe 10 or 11, and I thought I was dying. I had eaten a whole tub of movie theater popcorn and the butter is what set it off. Experiencing that overwhelming agony as a kid was terrifying. Knowing what’s happening and having practice has made it a lot easier to handle the pain mentally until it passes. The way the spasms come in waves is like psychological torture though. You get through one and are just waiting for the next one to start. You know they’re going to get worse before it gets better. And that’s not factoring in work or being in public.
The one trick that significantly eases and sometimes even stops a bout of IBS cramps for me is taking a bunch of ibuprofen and drinking a couple strong cups of ginger turmeric tea. I don’t know if that will help anybody else but I figure it’s worth mentioning.
