You do give VERY GOOD and HONEST reviews! English Woodsman is of my favorite 2 subscriptions! I've being subscribing for well over a year and look forward to seeing the bell for your new ones! Bravo Dan!
Try putting the foil side down and see if there is a difference mate. 3" air between you and the foil will maximize the reflective properties of the foil. Plus you won't slip off the cold noisy foil side. To "reflect" there must be air to reflect through. Hope that makes sense bro
Thank you Dan for sharing your review on camping equipment.i am on disability and only have so much money to live on but I would love to try and save some money back to go camping.i haven't been camping for awhile.
a really good honest review - thanks, I would have thought it would be a good idea for the company to turn the mats storage case into the mats air inflator, less stuff to carry, less stuff to lose
Outdoor Vitals is a great company, I have their no slip pillow. Thank you for this full review on this sleeping pad. I agree with you on where the air valve should be.. not on the back.
Ive just bought a new air matt called the big agnes rapide sl, best mat ive ever bought. The specs of awesome light, very comfort, pack size is great and weights very little. Ever need a new matt then defo try this one.
Looks good and looks like it will work, love the reviews DAN. All we need now is hot tent camping and food.cheers mate see you soon AkA Night owl from Luton 🍻🇬🇧💯👍
English Dan, great video buddy presenting the new air mattress buddy. It’s great to see that you are doing well. Say hello to your family for me buddy.👍
If you sleep in your outdoor clothes, all the moisture that your body has given off during the day stays with you and makes you colder. I always carry thermal bottoms and longsleve thermal top to wear in my sleeping bad.
Hi Dan. I personally wear clean tracksuit bottoms and a clean top I pack when going on a hike. The hiipeak sleeping mat I presently own is rubbish and at present looking for a better quality one. This seems idea for my Alpkit elan bivi. Not fussy about the noise, have a strap to secure mat to stop it slipping about during the night. Thanks for your personal honest review. I know I can trust your views.
Great review Dan. Ya I have had some luck. With some contact cement. By painting some stripes or spots. With a brush. On some of the slippery mats. I have used. Cheers 🍻 mate.
Ive never used an airmat but i would've thought it would be thinner in the middle to save you rolling off ? well i use a hammock and tarp and take my boots off and strip down to base layers my bag is a feather bag -12 rating i use 2 foam pads under my bag and never got cold yet i dont sleep on the ground anymore...
Not sure if someone has mentioned this below, but here's a good method to get your inflatable/Thermarest type mats even smaller when packing away. 1. Leave valve open and roll up. 2. Close valve and then unroll again. 3. Roll up tighter [you will get a further bulge of air] and then right at the end when fully rolled open valve, roll out remaining air and tighten valve again. You will be surprised a) how much smaller it roll, and b) how it stops the mat from unrolling if you have forgotten the bag/elastic strap.
I carry a base layer to sleep in, if my trousers are wet I don't want to get into a sleeping bag with them on! Interesting mat, I've got to get myself a decent cold weather one. Stay safe Dan atvb 👍🦊
Looks a good mat but for around £80-90 you can get the light tour mat which has a 5.8 r value and has done me proud so far so I guess it's down to which lasts the longest.
Your neighbours must think your mental having a sleep in the middle of the day in the snow....but good on ya getting back to making videos you want to .... keep it up
I love the pack size of that, but I wouldn't change my Glacier 5.0 Sleeping Mat for it. When things get cold I simply put a Snugpak XL jungle blanket under it and wrap the rest of the blanket over the top of my sleeping bag. 😊
That looks a great outdoor vitals mat thanks Dan for a great video out Friday for a 3 night solo back on Monday evening please let me know what the outdoor vitals mat is like 👍
Hi Dan , That Mat looks good , time will tell if any air starts leaking , As for wearing clothing while Camping , I wear lightweight type layers , in the Summer , and Wool based items in the Winter .
Nice review EW, although I'd be spending the whole night trying to stop myself slipping off that mat 🤣 Think I'll stick to my UL80 and add some extra insulation when needed
Great info I always struggle to find a good wide mat for the larger framed person who is a side sleeper 😬 Been looking at this new Kilos pads ? Personally I alway strip down to my thermals at night and my beanie. 😁👍
A great video as always mate :) need to pick you brains if you don’t mind lol looking for a small tent mainly just for me but also ‘big’ enough that I can put up in my garden to camp out in the summer with my 5 year old son (my 4 year daughter old daughter doesn’t seem interested but she will prob change her mind once she sees what it’s all about lol) not looking to spend a lot as such, I don’t mind if it fails me when I’m out and about as such but I just want to make sure it’s ok for me and the kids to ‘camp’ in in the garden, cheers mate, budget is low as they’ve cleared me out for Christmas as they do but any links etc would be great, thanks again :)
Wouldn't describe it as a "Budget" mat, as that depends on your personal budget., and what your prepared to pay however looking at the review you certainly seem to get more bang for your buck with the product and hence good value. Could you just not turn it over? it seems to be something of a universal problem slipping around on these base mats overnight!! Regarding your question about what people wear to sleep, i tend to wear thermals as pajamas most of the year . Good review Thanks
Thanks for another grate video man 👍 when you have time drop me a line. As I have a fantastic unbelievable hack for refurbishing old tents that I would love to Shere with 👍 regards Mark
Somebody makes a sleeping bag with an extra layer on the back to slide the sleeping pad down into.. I always thought that was a great idea.. Not sure who made it though
I had their inflatable pillow and I liked the feel and how quiet it was. But it only lasted 3 outings before it stopped holding air. That and their fairly annoying ads everywhere lead me to move away from their products.

This is a great channel for keeping up with new, affordable gear. Even we old duffers need to replace things once in a while.
I only getting some lightweight backpacking equipment for next year because I putting the boat out with travelling
DAN, try flipping the mat over, shiny side down, as long as its between you and the floor, it should still insulate you.

Would of thought it would be better to have the valve on the top where your feet are instead of head. Just a thought.
Anything better them on the back
You have the valve near your head so you can adjust it in the night if need be without getting out of bed
But i put more air in it will be a right pain. @@leebarton1143

Dan, the air pad weight in grams is incorrect.
That's what the website says mate
@@englishwoodsmanVideo correction
Long - 29.3oz is 831 grams
Regular 22.3 oz is 632 grams
That's what the website states
The website only gives the weight in ounces.
The correct weights in grams are 830 and 632.
