hammock camping has gone through a bit of a revolution in the past few years . . Its gone to this weird place that i dont remember . I think its cause the pandemic brought so many campsite campers out into the wilderness . The real edge this year is going to be solo camping and multiple days of survival . The solo seperates the wood from the chaff . I like that you brought a guest , but it would be inpressive to have them wake up so cozy that they would come back .
No he definitely won’t be out again I think. I’m considering getting up to the Mourne Mountains in a few weeks if you’re interested? You can email me @ wildirishman23@ gmail.com. And we can organise a trip
Thanks Andrew. I forgot my tripod so the log was the next best thing😂 never bringing a glass again. Pints went down too quick 😂😂 happy new year to you pal
Thats a grand axe/ hatchet brother .. like a hot knife through butter . Very impressive cutting on it Love the dressing of paracord on the handle . As ive gotten old i soend a day before my camps prepping the wood as its an awful pain . Theres enough rope hanging around to do yourself an injury 😂. Nice bit of prep in the video , makes me always want to go csmping but the weather is an awful thing the past few days
Thanks Owen. Yeh the prep does get annoying some times but it’s a great feeling when you’re sat beside the fire knowing everything is done. I can picture being all tangled up in paracord and some hiker goes past😂😂
Great video. I love how fast you manage to get the fire to light. I take it you used vasaline on cotton wool balls right? . I think I'm not using enough vasaline. Takes me a min or 2 to get started
Yeh cotton balls and Vaseline. I smother them in it. Probably overkill 😂 but it works. Try scraping some of the ferro rod onto it then give it a good strike Phil. I replied to your comment the other day so I don’t know why it’s not coming up pal
Bloke, if you can afford the manpower to hike all that kit and those consumables out there, you could have carried a proper axe, 2 1/2 lb head on a 36” handle. Splits easier, even those small blocks. My grandfather showed me, with the small block under your foot, laying on a crosswise branch or small log, the arc of the axe comes down onto the cross piece. Can be confidently strong, if you are confident in your swing. To say too, clearing windfall for your car’s passage in or out, or making use of large found-blocks for fire. I once woke up with fire real close, after going to bed having let my fire burn against what I thought was a plowed earth berm. Turned out it was a snow covered pile of cutblocks. I like your use of that small saw to cut those blocks. I have one of those folders, and have used it good. And cool (hot lol) tent stove system too. Shout out to Owen (lifesahobby), where I found you. He keeps good company.
Thanks Johnny, I wasn’t too far from my car so I could bring abit extra. It’s a good axe for what I use it for. It is abit light so your right, it’s not great for bigger logs. Yeh the silky saw is brilliant and fits into my bag perfect. Owen is brilliant and has very good content. I have to get out on a camp with him some time. Thanks for watching
I have tried sleeping in this fish net but it’s a disaster . If your a side sleeper and move too much to the side it flips leaving you trapped . Death Trap ! Don’t buy !
That’s exactly what happened to me in this. All zipped up in my bag ready to sleep and the tent decided to flip on its side. It was funny trying to get out and up😂
He pulled out a proper Guinness glass 😂😂😂. Legend.
I’d drink it out of a dirty shoe Darren😂😂
Great video Paul...love the lantern 😅
Shiens very best Robert😂 seen it for 12e. So had to get it. Gives a nice ambiance around the fire 😂

Nice one Paul 👍. Great to get set up and have a "glass" or two😊 and relax. Loved the slots in the log for the grill 😂. All the best for 2024 👍

@@WildIrishman that moment when you got stuck in the hammock could have been dangerous . Interesting .
@@WildIrishman yeah I just felt sorry for you working the wood on your own
