Sydney definitely missed but a Hi-Larious show just the same - particularly with the on-site to Butch and Lynne doing a little bourboning. Great picks everyone and mine would include Pete's Allman Brothers selection. Thanks everyone for another great HVS episode - some of the best TV broadcasted every week.
What a great show! I really like the comradery between all of you.
I'm a huge King's X fan. I think they are an amazing band. Not only for their musicianship but also their amazing vocals. All three guys sing like birds, and the harmonies are incredible. To me, listening to Doug Pinnick's voice is the next best thing to Jimi Hendrix, and the wicked sound that he gets out of his bass, especially the 12-string one, is one of the best bass tones I've ever heard.
Happy birthday Butch.
Happy birthday for yesterday Butch!
I thought 1994 wasn’t a very good year for music, but I was wrong. My top 5:
Collective Soul - Hints, Allegations & Things Left Unsaid
Primal Scream - Give Out But Don’t Give Up
John Mellencamp - Dance Naked
ZZ Top - Antennae
Weazer - Blue album
An idea for a show: Top 3 (or 5) albums the year each Square graduated high school.
I like that idea!
I graduated 94 :)
@@Ihatecensorship1 "Young Pup". I am a 1985 grad. I have to say your music tastes are pretty awesome. One of my former students, back in 1999 introduced me to Slipknot, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, and a whole host of various black metal and death metal groups. I was a 30 year young English teacher (high school level) at the time, and I have listened to that style (metal) of music ever since. Heck, even my ten and twelve year old daughters like some of dad's "yelling" music. :-)
@@davidburgreen2469 all hail the yelling music
@@Ihatecensorship1 do you like the backstreet boys?
Happy Birthday, Butch! I have to speak up for one of Lynne's picks here: "Throwing Copper," by Live, is not really a grunge or alternative album. It's emotional, and it does have some angst, but it's about as far from Nirvana, and bands like that, as I can imagine. Live does emotional rock anthems for singing along with, sometimes moody, but *not* grunge. I *love* "Throwing Copper! ("Superunknown" is a masterpiece too. Good picks, Lynne!)
Thank you ❤️🎼
Yeah, I have never considered Live to be a grunge band. All of their albums are good.
You all are so much fun!!🎤🎸🎵🥁
Happy birthday Butch. Great show everyone.
Thanks so much

Have a splendid time today Butch!
Not into heavy music in 1994 so my favourite album might not go down well with some HVS’s
Wildflowers Tom Petty
Just my fav TP album with my fav TP track Crawling Back to You. Was stoked when he played it at Hyde Park in 2017
Division Bell Pink Floyd. Even now I still find something new to like every time I listen to it. The cover is one of my favourites. I bought it in California and when the assistant heard my English accent asked where I was from. I pointed at the cover & replied “Five miles from where the photo was taken”.
Sushi Fish. One of the great live albums. The entire concert on two Cd’s virtually unheard of back then.
Cracked Rear View. Yeah I know it’s a PPPH (Pete Pardo Pet Hate) but as a Brit loved that album
Happy birthday Butch!!! That Dime shirt rules!!
Dream Theater - Awake, still my favorite DT album.
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven, kept metal alive in the 90's
Marillion - Brave, I'm late to the party with Marillion, but one of my favorite bands now.
Honorable mention - Megadeth - Youthanasia
Man what a great year...
Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies
Danzig - Danzig 4
Carcass - Heartwork
Pro-Pain - The Truth Hurts
Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses
COC - Deliverance
Megadeth - Youthanasia
Testament - Low
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Machine Head - Burn My Eyes
Offspring - Smash
Hole - Live Through This
Weezer - Weezer
RICH/ your DIO pick = tremendous choice ! Still play that a lot 2️⃣7️⃣yrs later 👍💯
1994 was the year I was born 🤟, While 1994 was a great year for music and movies it kind of sucks been born in the 90s for the music I love , I missed out on so many great bands and most were far past their prime years by the time I got to see them ...
Happy B'Day, Butch! '94 was a weird year for me, but I do remember some of my favorite discs I bought then:
1. DEUS -- Worst Case Scenario
2. GODSPEED -- Ride
3. LUSH -- Split
4. MIRANDA SEX GARDEN -- Fairytales...
5. CRANES -- Loved
6. MADDER ROSE -- Panic On
7. EVE'S PLUM -- I Want It All Alive
8. SASS JORDAN -- Rats
9. B.B.M. -- Around The Next Dream
10. DEVILHEAD -- Your Ice Cream's Dirty

Dammit!! I forgot Sass!!!!!
@@butchjones3497 I bought that Sass CD on my way home from work in '94 -- driving down the road, put the disc in , and almost ended up in the ditch!! Good Lord -- what a great, heavy CD! Became an instant fan.
Nice! That Cranes album is very good. '94 also had Souvlaki by Slowdive, Up To Our Hips by The Charlatans, Dog Man Star by Suede & His n' Hers by Pulp.
@@bschuler6216 I'll have to check out Pulp (great band name) and Slowdive (another great band name), I'm sure I haven't heard those two, thanks for the tip. Yeah, Cranes are in a league all their own-- I have some of their other releases but I keep going back to "Loved." Another one I forgot to list was Dink -- their self-titled disc released in '94 -- good hard rock!
1. Virgin Steele - The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part 1
2. Running Wild - Black Hand Inn
3. Soundgarden - Superunkown
4. Mercyful Fate - Time
5. Stratovarius - Dreamspace
A couple of sips of Bourbon and Lynne turns into F-bomb dropping Maniac!! Hilarious!!!!
Happy birthday Butch🍻
My pick
Helloween:Master of the rings

1. Kyuss - Sky Valley
2. Mark Lanegan - Whiskey for the Holy Ghost

It’s not my fav
Mortuary Drape KILLS!!!!!!
Great picks everybody but one glaring omission. Kyuss self titled!!! Many also call it Welcome to Sky Valley. Definitely would of been in my top 3
Finally, Biohazard ☣️ mentioned in a good light on this show. Trust Butch to do it, what a legend.
‘New World Disorder’ was an amazing album too. ✊
Yup!!!
Amazing year!
Kyuss, solstice, slayer, machine head, Pantera, soundgarden, C.O.C, emperor, pentagram, pink floyd, Korn, helmet, killing joke, mayhem!
In those days I had these releases on cassette!
Glenn Hughes : From Now On
Pride And Glory : S/T
Loreena Mckennitt : The Mask And The Mirror
Tesla : Bust a Nut
Pink Floyd : The Division Bell
Cliff Magness : Solo
Savatage : Handful of Rain
Atlantic : Power

My "top 3" are:
Megadeth - Youthanasia
King's X - Dogman
Testament - Low
Honorable mentions:
John Scofield & Pat Metheny - I Can See Your House From Here
...just to rub some people the wrong way Stone Temple Pilots - Purple (Steve, nice pick with Korn S/T! ;) )
Another great show - and for me 1994 is part of the 'dark ages' of rock, but I still loved watching this. I need to go and have a listen to that Dio record... Thing is, grunge made me shut the door on rock music for a decade and I didn't come back to actively listening to stuff until the early 00s. Nevertheless, you guys are like a sitcom as well as a music show, hahah, so I always enjoy the banter as well as the informative plugs for certain records and artists.
Pete's pick, Epilog by Änglagård ( yeah, that's how you write it in Swedish ) was great, completely forgot that record came out in '94! Amazing music if you are into prog.
Oh, and happy belated birthday to Butch! 🥃 😁
Cheesy moment: this episode really warmed my heart! Just goes to show how important friendships asp metal family. And also, collages Rich??? That's impressive...and crazy lol
My favorite album from 1994 is Pandemonium by Killing Joke
Some other albums from 94 I love are:
Superunknown by Soundgarden
Cleansing by Prong
Welcome To Sky Valley- Kyuss
Point Blank by Nailbomb
Betty by Helmet
Stranger Than Fiction by Bad Religion
Deliverance by Corrosion Of Conformity and The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Hey Squares! Howzit 🤙I dig these Monday gigs!
Just wanna throw Amorica by the Black Crowes into the mix.
Aloha
During a time when classic style rock was nearly dead, ZZ Top came back with one of my faves from them: Antenna - Pincushion, Breakaway, Fuzzbox Voodoo, Girl in a T Shirt, Lizard Life, Cover Your Rig, etc. Billy really stepped up with some great riffs, vocal refrains, and cool grooves. The whole album just goes good around the pool.
Happy Birthday Butch. The one and only Bourbonator!
Happy Birthday Butch, to the coolest Lizzzzy Fan ever!
💚
