    Great tip about using 2 x wooden spoons. I put both in my mouth and bit down hard, making me concentrate & focus on not cutting all the way through the potato - brilliant!

      Or just put the spoons on either side of the potato and cut so you don't cut it all the way
      Or was it a joke I didn't get?

    Add salt and pepper to the butter when adding garlic and thyme. Instead of brushing the butter on just pick up potatoes and flip over and set in the butter and wiggle it around a bit. They will open up on their own by the time you butter them all.

    Cooking tip:
    Place the potato between two wooden spoons when cutting to keep from cutting too far down. This makes cutting faster and easier. Then, to paint with the butter, place potato across one wooden spoon and it will flare open and the butter will more easily flow between the slices.

      @@rainnnnnn372 then you are not qualified to make this recipe. The tip is fairly straightforward in it’s description of the technique, but you might have an issue with reading comprehension or are too lazy to watch the video which would answer your stupid question. I think, for now, you should stick to Pop Tarts and microwave pizza. Ask an adult to help with the appliances and don’t forget your helmet.

    Another way to do it, is to cut much more slices in the potatoes and put some breadcrumbs on top of them. That`s the way I do them, (but my wife prefers them without the breadcrumbs). Greetings from Sweden!

    The reason you brush on the oil instead of dumping them in a bowl of oil is because you're not a pig. 🥰

    Why not just dip the potato in the oil insread of brushing

    • @doodlesack94uiui19
      @doodlesack94uiui19 5 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      Because when you dip it the oil won't go into the openings, as you have to phisically open them with your hands to oil them. I tried it yesterday, didn't work with dipping

      Open them inside the oil.

      You shouldn’t use oil, only clarified butter. Brush it on top, you don’t have to open each layer. They will open up during cooking and since you should brush them several times during cooking, the showed pre-brushing wont make any difference. But most important, NO olive oil.

    Looks absolutely scrumptious - Can I add some “Herbes de Provance” to infuse with the hot clarified butter and granulated Garlic ?
    Can I also use some “Sour Cream” to go with the final product to serve with the potatoes ?
    Thank You for this - You made it look so simple !
