Planting Dahlias in Grow Bags | Planting & Overwintering Tips

Hello! My name is Bethany and I grow things in my rooftop container garden in Chicago, zone 6a. I’ve been container gardening for four years and am by no means an expert, just someone who enjoys sharing their garden journey.
In this video, I'll show you how I plant dahlias in my garden. Last year was the first year I didn't kill my dahlias so I'm planting them the exact same way this year!

Planting Method:
🌱 Use one 7-gallon grow bag for each dahlia
🌱 Fill halfway with a mix of potting soil and compost
🌱 Place the dahlia in the bag stem up
🌱 Sprinkle bulb tone around the dahlia
🌱 Cover with 2 inches of potting soil
🌱 Water in and wait for it to sprout!
Because we are not past the last frost here in Chicago, I will be storing the dahlias inside until they sprout and then moving them in and out as the weather allows.
