While this is all true, I have to point out that the whole swim speed infusion system itself was added years ago. The new patch just added an ability to upgrade 5 levels at a time (before you had to go 1 at a time), but it still works the same as agony infusions, meaning you always upgrade 2 to 1 to get a higher bonus, which is where the exponential scaling comes from. The only real difference is that +1 agony infusions are basically free on TP, but still nobody bothered to craft +19 agony infusion. The cost is just too absurd (~4k gold in reagents alone) for what it gets you.
Well I don't think anet has a say in it sadly. If NCSoft cuts the funds and just invests in gw3 this gem of a game will die no matter what anet planned

The wild part is that bag slot expansions cost less than 200 gold, so the 32 aren't even that worth. You might just as well unlock all bag slots and slap +20s in them.
When I realized how expensive these are I immediately came to the conclusion this is nothing more than a gold sink for autistic numba go up gamers or ultra giga-whales who have probably already purchased everything else they could.
I think people look at this wrong. Instead of having a max cap they have a sort of soft cap where it can go up practically infinitely up until +30 where it is near unobtainable, but you by no means need this. They could have capped it at +25 but what would change? Even if they made +30 easier it wouldn't change gameplay and only limit the economy of the infusion. Agony works in the exact same way with no one using a +30 despite it being more impactful and obtainable. People just cant handle the shiny thing being out of reach even if its better for the game.
That's a fair point. Technically max scaling/out of reach rewards are indeed far and few between in GW2, with AR being such an example as well. In that light it does indeed make sense to have the price/time at these levels.
I have been through this nonsense before in LOTRO. Why do MMO’s get more insane and un-fun over time? I have twenty six characters - I am never doing this. I won’t even grind infusions. ANet, just make your game entertaining and eff off with this grind BS.

You're absolutely right. This more or less put a looking glass on the situation.
I don't mind farming something for few years like 2 maybe 3 but 339 is just way too much.
how about don't buy the swim-speed infusions? extremely niche use-case as you spend 99.9999% of your time on land anyway
This is so incredibly bad, that there's just no way this isn't phase one of something else to come.
There's just no way.
I really wouldn't mind the account-wide infusions for AR either, but there's indeed some work to be done.
i gave up and just stopped. broken system for it. i will wait till they screw up account unlock infusions for the rest of the armor
Well ITS cheaper to Upgrade to the old system.
nah these infusions aint worth it bro skimmers exist for a reason
i hope it stays like this... im makeing alot of gold on this :D
Diablo IV: First time failing at math?
just like the atrrocious way to craft 32 slot bag i am closer to legendary half armor gear to unlock compared to 32 slot bag
The wild part is that bag slot expansions cost less than 200 gold, so the 32 aren't even that worth.
You might just as well unlock all bag slots and slap +20s in them.
@@phandrel exactly but i want to have one char with 320 slots just so i can open items in 250 stacks :D haven't played the game in a while
When I realized how expensive these are I immediately came to the conclusion this is nothing more than a gold sink for autistic numba go up gamers or ultra giga-whales who have probably already purchased everything else they could.
Then its good 95% of the content are on land so you dont to waste time farming it.
I have been through this nonsense before in LOTRO.
Why do MMO’s get more insane and un-fun over time?
I have twenty six characters - I am never doing this. I won’t even grind infusions.
ANet, just make your game entertaining and eff off with this grind BS.
Haven't played LOTRO since their launch. I didn't know they had systems like this, too. I gotta say, this really feels like them not really reviewing the system before it went live.
Also, the teleportation fee shouldn't be that low if you want to tp to every single location without using alt parking
Yeah no thanks Anet, you already made me quit with the pointless grinds for Auroa an Vision, no chance I'm even gonna try this, my masks can stay without the infusions.
I get they do grinds to keep people playing the game but I'm way to burnt out now for this
Best of luck to the people still grinding hard, you will reach the end one day don't give up!!
This one really feels more like an oversight than anything else. Unless they do t really want people with 30% bonus swim speed.
lol
